Chapter 336 Fengming Temple

He took out his cell phone and called Ning Weiwei.

"I'm downstairs, get in the car."

A few minutes later, Ning Weiwei appeared at the company gate in a simple white dress with a sweet smile on her face. She quickly got into Chi Lin's car.

"Brother Lin, thank you for accompanying me to Fengming Temple." Ning Weiwei said gratefully.

Chi Lin nodded expressionlessly, started the car and drove towards Fengming Temple.

He told himself in his heart that this was the last time, and after that he would completely break up with Ning Weiwei and return to Ji Wan.

However, he didn't know that Ji Wan had already left the company and went to Fengming Villa to keep his appointment with Fu Qichuan.

The paths of the two people are unknowingly extending in completely different directions.

On Saturday noon, Ji Wan and several colleagues arrived at Fengming Villa in a car arranged by the company.

This is an upscale resort located on the outskirts of the city, built against the mountain with beautiful environment. Most importantly, it is adjacent to the world-famous Fengming Temple, which is very popular and attracts tourists in an endless stream.

"Mr. Ji, Mr. Fu sent a message saying that he will be late, so let's rest here first." Xia Guoguo looked at the phone and conveyed the message to Ji Wan.

Ji Wan nodded and looked around. The villa was decorated in a simple and elegant style, with a sense of Zen everywhere, which complemented the Fengming Temple not far away.

"Since Mr. Fu hasn't arrived yet, why don't we go to the temple first?" Ji Wan suggested, "It's a good time to relax."

Several colleagues agreed, and the group walked along the gravel path towards Fengming Temple.

Fengming Temple is located halfway up the mountain, with towering ancient trees and a strong incense.

Ji Wan and his group slowly climbed the stone steps and arrived at the temple gate. Although it was the weekend, due to the remote location, there were not many tourists, giving people a quiet and leisurely feeling.

"I heard that the Bodhisattvas here are particularly effective, especially the Goddess of Childbirth. Many couples who want to have children come here to pray." Xia Guoguo whispered to Ji Wan.

Ji Wan smiled slightly but did not respond.

She is not too interested in these superstitions and comes here more to appreciate the architecture and culture of the ancient temple.

Just as she entered the temple, Ji Wan's phone rang suddenly. Seeing that the caller ID showed the number of the nursing home, her heart tightened and she quickly answered it.

"Hello, Miss Ji. I'm the nurse taking care of Ms. Hua." An anxious female voice came from the other end of the phone. "Ms. Hua is a little emotionally unstable today. She keeps asking to see you, and we can't comfort her."

Ji Wan's heart sank, "How is my mother now?"

"She is temporarily stable now, but the doctor said it is best for her to have family members with her. She keeps shouting that she wants to see her daughter," the nurse explained.

Ji Wan immediately recalled Chi Lin’s promise last night.

He said he would visit her mother today.

Logically, he should be in a nursing home by now.

"Okay, I got it. I'll be there as soon as possible. Thank you for your notice." Ji Wan hung up the phone and immediately dialed Chi Lin's number.

The phone rang several times before it was connected. There was some noise in the background, as if the person was in a car.

"Hello, Wanwan?" Chi Lin's voice came, with a hint of unnaturalness.

"Where are you now?" Ji Wan asked directly.

Chi Lin paused for a moment. "I'm out. An important client asked me out for dinner. What's going on?"

"My mother is emotionally unstable and keeps calling me. Didn't you say you would go see her today?" Ji Wan's voice was filled with a hint of blame.

"Oh, sorry, I forgot the time." Chi Lin hurriedly explained, "This client is very important and can't be turned down. I'll go there right after dinner, around twelve o'clock."

Ji Wan clenched his phone tightly, a wave of disappointment welling up in his heart, "Okay, I have something to do here too, so I might not be able to get there until later."

"It's okay, you go ahead and do your thing, I'll take care of it." Chi Lin promised solemnly.

After hanging up the phone, Ji Wan stood at the temple gate, feeling powerless.

She knew Chi Lin might be lying again, but at this moment she was more worried about her mother's condition.

Just as she was thinking about whether she should rush to the nursing home immediately, her cell phone rang again.

This time it was a number I hadn't seen in a long time.

It was not someone else, but Jing Nanxing.

"Awan, I'm back home."

A familiar voice came from the other end of the phone, carrying the same warmth as always.

Hearing her voice, Ji Wan's lips curled up.

Jing Nanxing is Ji Wan's college classmate and also her childhood sweetheart. She went abroad for further studies two years ago, and her sudden return this time surprised Ji Wan a little.

"Nanxing? When did you come back? Why didn't you tell me in advance?" Ji Wan's tone became much more relaxed.

"I just arrived yesterday and wanted to give you a surprise." Jing Nanxing smiled, "Where are you? I'll come find you."

Ji Wan hesitated for a moment and said, "I have a work meeting at Fengming Villa. But my mother is not in a good mood today, so I may have to go see her."

"Aunt Hua? What happened to her?" Jing Nanxing's voice immediately became concerned.

"She is in a nursing home now. She suddenly became emotionally unstable today and kept calling me." Ji Wan explained briefly.

"I'm nearby now." Jing Nanxing said with surprise, "I can go see Aunt Hua first and chat with her while you come over."

Ji Wan felt warm in his heart, "Really? That's great."

"Of course, Aunt Hua has always been very nice to me, and I miss her too. Just send me the address and I'll go over right away." Jing Nanxing agreed readily.

Ji Wan immediately sent the address of the sanatorium to Jing Nanxing, and his anxiety was relieved a lot.

At least until she arrived, her mother wouldn't be alone.

"Thank you, Nanxing." Ji Wan said sincerely.

"Don't be so polite, we don't need this." Jing Nanxing said with a smile, "I'm going to the sanatorium first, come over when you're done."

After hanging up the phone, Ji Wan breathed a sigh of relief, turned around and prepared to go back to his colleagues to tell them that he might need to leave early.

At this moment, a familiar figure came into view, causing her blood to freeze instantly.

Chi Lin, her husband, was walking towards the temple with Ning Weiwei.

Ning Weiwei was wearing a simple white dress and a sun hat on her head, looking charming.

Chi Lin was right beside her, with a gentle smile on his face that Ji Wan hadn't seen in a long time.

What made Ji Wan even more heartbroken was that when they reached the threshold of the temple, Chi Lin considerately reached out his hand and helped Ning Weiwei over the threshold. The action was natural and intimate, and it was obviously not the first time he had done this.

"Important customer?" Ji Wan smiled bitterly, his heart chilled.

She quickly hid behind a thick pillar, not wanting to be discovered by them.

From this angle, she could clearly see every detail of their interaction without being noticed by them.

Chi Lin and Ning Weiwei entered the temple together and walked towards the main hall.

Ning Weiwei held Chi Lin's arm, and looked up from time to time to say something to him. Chi Lin smiled and nodded in response, his expression relaxed and defenseless.
