Chapter 41 is here!
"I said, no one has the right to kick me out." Jiang Yining's temper flared up as well. She stood up abruptly, her bright yellow skirt tracing a clean arc with her movement. She wasn't short, and wearing high heels, her imposing presence directly overwhelmed Wang Li's aggressive aura. Jiang Yining wasn't afraid at all. "Can't you understand human language? Xie Shiyan told me to wait for him here."
"Xie Shiyan?" Wang Li's voice suddenly rose, becoming sharp and shrill, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, carrying an exaggerated and mocking surprise, "Ha, how affectionately you call him!"
She took a step closer, looking Jiang Yining up and down: "Dressed so well, do you think you can become a phoenix by wearing a designer dress? Don't you know your own worth?"
She scoffed, her laughter sharp and piercing, each word like a poisoned icy needle stabbing viciously at Jiang Yining: "I've seen plenty of women like you, desperately trying to hook up with rich men. You think you can snag a rich husband just because you have a pretty face? Dream on."
"Who is Mr. Xie? A gold digger like you, who seems to have crawled out of some back alley, isn't even worthy of carrying his shoes. He hates shameless, social climbers like you the most. Get out of here right now and don't defile this place."
Every word struck Jiang Yining's face and heart like a brutal blow. Never in her life had she been subjected to such vicious and humiliating verbal abuse to her face. A wave of grievance and anger washed over her, making her eyes burn and swell, blurring her vision instantly. She bit her lower lip hard, using all her strength to prevent those shameful tears from rolling down her cheeks.
Gao Xinxin, standing at the door, was clearly taken aback by Wang Li's unbridled insults. A look of surprise and unease flashed across her face, and she subconsciously took a small step back.
Several company employees, who had noticed the commotion, had quietly gathered at the entrance of the break room, peeking out and whispering among themselves like tiny mosquitoes buzzing.
"Did Manager Wang lose his temper?"
"Who is that woman? Dressed like that..."
"She's definitely trying to seduce President Xie, but she's bitten off more than she can chew."
"Manager Wang's scolding was way too harsh..."
"But Mr. Xie hates this kind of thing the most..."
The hushed whispers, the curious, inquisitive, and even slightly gloating glances, stung Jiang Yining's skin. Just as she was about to unleash a torrent of abuse, a cold, deep male voice, carrying an absolute, oppressive aura, boomed unexpectedly at the door of the lounge:
"Who are you telling to get out?"
The voice, though soft, instantly pierced the buzzing chatter at the entrance to the lounge. All the whispers ceased abruptly, and the crowd gathered at the door parted in unison, with a mixture of fear and awe, to make way for them.
Xie Shiyan was standing there.
He had clearly rushed over, and he had changed into a well-tailored dark blue suit jacket, which was open to reveal a meticulously white shirt and dark tie underneath.
His face was expressionless, his gaze sharp as a knife, piercing straight at Wang Li, who was pointing at Jiang Yining's nose and spitting as she did so in the lounge.
The sarcastic, smug expression on Wang Li's face froze instantly. Her finger, which was pointing at Jiang Yining, was still frozen in mid-air, but it began to tremble uncontrollably, and her lips quivered.
Xie Shiyan didn't even glance at them.
His gaze passed over Wang Li, who stood frozen like a statue, and locked firmly on Jiang Yining, who stood in front of the sofa, her eyes red and swollen, like a frightened little animal.
He strode forward, his gleaming black leather shoes clicking steadily and clearly on the polished floor tiles. He walked straight toward Jiang Yining, his tall figure exuding an invisible pressure that completely shut out the previously arrogant Wang Li from his aura.
He walked up to Jiang Yining and lowered his eyes slightly.
Those unfathomable eyes, which had just been icy cold, melted instantly when they met her reddened eyes and her stubborn way of holding back tears. They were filled with undisguised heartache and a sinister anger that seemed to be brewing a storm.
He raised his hand, carefully and gently, his long, slightly cool fingertips lightly brushing against the corner of her wet eyes.
"Were you scared?" His voice was low, just loud enough for her to hear, and it was a soothing hoarse tone.
The moment he approached, Jiang Yining felt a pang of sadness, her stubbornness almost crumbling. She sniffed, wanting to shake her head, but only managed a soft, aggrieved sound with a heavy nasal tone.
"Um"
Xie Shiyan's eyes darkened even more in an instant. He then slowly turned around and looked back at Wang Li, who was pale as a ghost and trembling like a leaf.
That gaze was even colder than before, carrying an indifferent indifference as if scrutinizing an inanimate object and a chilling sense of oppression.
"Manager Wang?" His voice wasn't loud, but it carried clearly to every corner of the break room, each word like a shard of ice, "Who gave you the audacity?"
He paused, his gaze sweeping over the name tag on Wang Li's chest that read "Front Desk Supervisor," before finally settling on her deathly pale face. His tone was eerily calm, "Touch my people?"
The words "those who harmed me" struck Wang Li's heart like a hammer blow. Her legs gave way, and she collapsed to the ground with a thud, her lips trembling as she incoherently tried to explain:
