Chapter Ninety-Nine: Inhuman and Depraved

I still keep in touch with Lu Hong. Every now and then she will ask me to borrow some money or help her buy some things. I know this is Lu Hong's nature, but in order to maintain our relationship, I always agree to all her requests. She is also becoming more and more open with me.

"Lin Yan, Amy asked me to go to a resort outside the city, saying she'd give me some money and settle everything." I received Lu Hong's message as soon as I arrived at the office.

Why go to a resort? Why not just pay?

"Don't go alone, be careful, wait for me to come."

I had a feeling that Amy could kill me, so she probably wouldn't care about killing another woman who threatened her. After leaving the TV station, I took a taxi to Lu Hong's house.

I kept sending messages the whole way, they showed as read but I never got a reply, and no one answered my calls. I sensed something was wrong. Just as I was about to call Chu Zhen, my phone suddenly crashed.

"Excuse me, sir, I live in apartment 305 of building 20. I have a table that I don't need anymore. Could you please help me carry it downstairs?" I ran into a security guard at the entrance of the residential complex.

"Okay, no problem. You're a tenant, right? I remember this is Grandma Wang's house!" the security guard said enthusiastically.

"Yes, I share an apartment with a friend. Grandma's table was getting a bit old, so I'm planning to replace it with a new one. I'll move the old one to the garage. I've already told Grandma about it."

When I arrived at the residence with the security guard, I knocked on the door and called out Lu Hong's name, but there was no response from inside for a long time.

"What's wrong?"

"Sorry, I didn't bring my keys when I came down. My roommate was just here, why is she not here now?"

"Then give her a call. I'm leaving now. When you need to move, just come to the security guard's office to find me."

It seems Lu Hong has already left, but where can I look for her now? The resort outside the city? But my phone is dead, I can't be so reckless, I've decided to find a phone store nearby to charge it.

"Lin Yan?" A man's voice suddenly came from behind.

"Go and bring her out."

Where is this?

"You'll understand when I take you to see our boss." The man grabbed my arm; my hands were already tied behind my back with zip ties.

"Lin Yan? That's a pretty good name, but why didn't you think of changing the surname as well, like Chu Yan?"

Even though Amy had her back to me, her figure and the way she spoke suggested that it was no one else but her.

"You knew it was me all along?"

"Otherwise what? Did you really think I would go for someone named Lin Yan?" Amy turned her head, a ruthless glint in her smile.

“Lin Dang, you’re really something. You knew to get close to Lu Hong, but you didn’t expect that I also had someone following her, did you?” Amy’s head was almost touching my face. “So you’re quite shrewd. No wonder Chu Zhen was so infatuated with you.”

I knew Amy would hire someone to follow Lu Hong, so I disguised myself every time I met Lu Hong. But I was still discovered. Well, just as I can recognize Amy's figure at a glance, I'm sure she can recognize mine at a glance too.

"Your methods aren't bad either, but you still couldn't catch Chu Zhen," I sneered.

"Did you kill Chu Yilin?" I already know that Chu Lin was the victim of a car accident she and Li Guoqiang planned, but I need to hear her say it herself whether she actually killed Chu Yilin.

“Yes,” Amy said dismissively.

"You should be grateful that you have two children. They took the blame for you. But, Lin Dang, is the pain of losing your children very painful?" Amy's lips curled up, her wine-red lipstick looking as if it were stained with blood.

Amy held the knife and moved it back and forth across my face, finally stopping at my neck. "I have another question for you." I don't know what time it is. It's almost dark here, but I just heard frogs croaking, so it must be nighttime. And we should be in the suburbs right now.
