Chapter 263 Strange Ghostly Shadows

A group of children played with the old man for almost an hour.

Just as the boys were about to feed their grandfather, the old man's attending physician walked in with a smile.

Although the doctor didn't explicitly tell everyone to leave, Li Qirui understood what he meant.

"Dad, you just woke up, so let's not let them make a scene here. Let Xunling and Jingyi take them home first!"

The old man was holding the child in both arms and could only gesture with his chin. He raised his chin and waved it a few times towards his seven grandsons.

"Take them away, and you all go too. I want Guaiyanbao and Xiaomulang to stay here and keep me company at the bedside."

Li Qicheng understood that the old man was just joking, but he still said a few words of advice. Then he took Xiao Mulang from the old man's arms. After handing him over to Zhong Jingyi, he found that the old man was holding Xiao Yanbao and hiding on the inside of the hospital bed, looking as if he was afraid that Xiao Yanbao would be taken away by them.

"Dad, you should get some rest. The children don't have school tomorrow morning, so let them come see you again!"

After Li Qicheng persuaded him for a long time, the old man finally put Xiao Yanbao down.

"Grandpa, it's okay. I'll come see you first thing tomorrow morning and bring you breakfast!"

Upon hearing Xiao Yanbao's obedient words, the old man immediately burst into laughter. Then, he swept a stern gaze across the faces of the attending physician, Li Qirui, and Li Qicheng, before whispering:

"Is it okay if I get discharged first thing tomorrow morning? I want to go back and have breakfast with Yanbao!"

The attending physician carefully examined the old man's complexion and spirits, hesitated for a moment, and then smiled and said loudly:

"No problem, you can be discharged first thing tomorrow morning. I'll arrange for someone to take care of the paperwork and send it to you later."

Hearing the doctor say that, the old man finally smiled happily, and then took the initiative to say goodbye to his grandsons, even remembering to tell Xiao Yanbao that they would have breakfast together the next day.

Not long after everyone left the hospital, Xiao Yanbao saw a ghostly figure that had faded to almost transparent by the roadside. The figure seemed to be waiting at a traffic light, and the sunlight shining on it was constantly burning and evaporating the already limited ghostly energy, but the figure did not react at all.

This strange phenomenon completely attracted Xiao Yanbao's attention. Just as the car was about to cross the intersection, the ghostly figure had already reached the back of the car. Xiao Yanbao hurriedly looked out the window.

Xiao Yanbao's actions caught Zhong Jingyi's attention. Just then, they passed a shop that specializes in handmade chocolates outside the car. Zhong Jingyi thought that Xiao Yanbao wanted to eat chocolate, so she hurriedly asked the driver to stop the car.

"Pull over for a moment, I'm taking Yanbao downstairs to buy some things."

As she spoke, Zhong Jingyi looked apologetically at Liang Xunling beside her. Liang Xunling smiled slightly and reached out to take the babbling little Mulang from Zhong Jingyi's arms.

Xiao Yanbao glanced at her mother with some confusion. After getting out of the car, she noticed the chocolate shop outside and realized that her mother must have misunderstood her. However, she couldn't explain herself.

That's good, now I'll have a chance to see what's going on with that ghost. As my mother led me by the hand toward the chocolate shop, Xiao Yanbao gently pulled her hand away from Zhong Jingyi's.

"Mom, you go buy it, I want to look around here!"

As Xiao Yanbao spoke, he pointed to the giant clock on the roof of the shopping mall not far away. It was exactly five o'clock in the afternoon, and the clock made a deafening thud.

Zhong Jingyi happened to follow Xiao Yanbao's finger to look at the clock, and her heart trembled slightly when she saw it.

It seems I've been too negligent. Although I brought Xiao Yanbao from the mountain village to the capital, I haven't taken her out to play much.

Thinking of this, Zhong Jingyi nodded repeatedly.

"Don't wander off, just wait here for Mom!"

Just as Zhong Jingyi finished speaking, a black minivan pulled up beside them, and the three brothers, Li Muxing, Li Muchen, and Li Muhao, got out of the car.

"Third Aunt, let's play with Xiao Yanbao, you go ahead and do your work!"

As Li Muhao spoke, he winked at Xiao Yanbao and gently pointed his finger at his waist in the direction of the ghostly figure, which was the direction of the clock.

Little Yanbao sweetly called out "Brother," and then Zhong Jingyi spoke up:

"Alright then, don't go too far. You three need to keep an eye on Yanbao!"

Li Muxing and the other two nodded repeatedly, and then Xiao Yanbao called out to Zhong Jingyi:

"Mom, I'll ride with my brothers in their car later, so don't wait for me!"

After Xiao Yanbao shouted those words, Li Muhao pulled Xiao Yanbao up and ran towards the overpass, with Li Muxing and Li Muchen quickly following behind.

“Yanbao, did you see that thing? My magic weapon is already starting to heat up. That thing must have done a lot of evil deeds, otherwise the magic weapon of the Day Wanderer God would never react like this.”

Xiao Yanbao knew that the Sun Wanderer's magical artifacts could automatically sense the evil spirits around them, but what intrigued her was not the malevolent aura emanating from the ghostly figure, but rather the fact that the figure could withstand the scorching sunlight and, despite its already faint appearance, showed no fear of the sun.

Using the senses of his magical artifact, Li Muhao firmly locked onto the ghostly figure's trail, only to see it quickly enter the shopping mall building.

"You two, slow down! Wait for us!"

The eldest brother, Li Muxing, ran desperately, but he could never catch up with Li Muhao and Xiao Yanbao. By the time they entered the mall, the two of them had already disappeared into the crowd.
