Gloves
In the evening, a colleague was in charge of an elevator and someone was trapped. After the person was released, they couldn't find the problem for a long time. Finally, they called Shao Liyin over. Shao Liyin took a look at the data, debugged it back and forth twice, and found the cause of the failure.
However, the spare parts needed for maintenance were not on hand, and the owner was pressing for repairs, so the elevator had to be running during the rush hour at dawn.
Sister Chen contacted some people and finally borrowed the accessories. It was already past five o'clock when she came back, exhausted.
Tong Xiaolai didn't know whether he hadn't slept all night or had just woken up. Looking at his appearance, he felt distressed but couldn't bear to settle the score with him. He held back all the words and silently packed milk and various fruits into his schoolbag.
Shao Liyin looked at the silent Tong Xiaolai, thinking that the final exams were just a week away, and he couldn't bear to scold him any further, as it would affect his test-taking mentality. He decided to wait until winter break to have a good talk with him.
Sister Chen gave him a day off, and he took a nap until ten o'clock. When he woke up, he was still a little confused, unable to tell the difference between day and night. He lay in bed for a long time before he finally woke up.
After washing up, he saw that the heat preservation light of the rice cooker was still on, so he smiled. He opened it and saw that there was indeed food that Tong Xiaolai had heated up for him.
He brought it out, took a few bites, and put it in the refrigerator. There was no news about elevator maintenance on his phone, so he took out the pair of gloves from the pocket of the clothes he was wearing yesterday.
He rubbed the red cherry on his wrist with his thumb, a smile on his face.
It was noon and there were a lot of orders, so I put on my gloves and prepared to go out for a run.
Yesterday, the guy noticed at a glance that the gloves were not on his hands, and he felt that he had almost fooled himself, but he still felt a little scared when he thought about it.
A new young man came yesterday. He registered as a rider as soon as he turned 18. He was reluctant to spend money on all those miscellaneous warm things. He thought that winter was not long and it would be over if he just endured it.
It was obvious that the child was inexperienced and had no time to prepare. When he looked at the skinny little figure, he thought of his own family's smile. He ran twice and his little hands were frozen red.
He rummaged in his pocket and took out the pair of textile gloves to hand over. Looking at the holes on them, he hesitated for a moment, and finally handed over the gloves that Xiaolai had given him.
"I'll lend you these for a while. Don't damage them. Remember to buy a new pair when you have some free time. If your hands are frozen, they'll still itch even if they heal next year. Got it?"
The child took it without knowing what was going on.
When he returned in the afternoon, he happily pulled Shao Liyin and said, "Brother Shao, these gloves are really warm. How much did you buy them for? I'll give you the money, please transfer it to me."
Shao Liyin smiled and flicked his forehead: "It's less than fifty, but I won't sell it. It's a gift from my brother, I won't give it to anyone who wants it."
After saying that, she looked at his bare hands and asked, "Didn't you buy it?"
The child's eyes were still on the gloves, and he couldn't let go. He took them and said with a smile: "There are no orders at the moment. I'll take you to buy a pair."
With that, he took the child to a nearby general merchandise store on his bike. After searching for a long time and not seeing anything similar, he picked out a pair of warm gloves for eighty yuan and handed them to the child: "These are for you."
He looked at the child's happy face, and touched the cherry on the leather gloves on his hands. The kid had good taste. None of the gloves outside were better looking than this one.
While he was thinking about random things, a new order popped up in his hand. He took a look and saw that it was from a shop in a high-end shopping mall nearby. After accepting the order, he rode his bike to the store, picked up the goods, and rushed to the mall.
It was a fur shop on the third floor. He looked at the door and called the other party's cell phone: "Hello, your takeaway has arrived."
A clerk came over and handed over the package in his hand: "Your takeaway, I wish you a happy meal."
The clerk took the takeaway and suddenly stared at his hands for a long time: "Your gloves...?"
Shao Liyin took a look and smiled. Lately, everyone who saw his gloves would compliment them, and he was also very proud: "My brother gave them to me."
"Is it the days after New Year's Day in early January?"
Shao Linyin nodded: "Yes, he is careful. How did you know?"
The salesperson looked at him and smiled: "I'm the one who sold these gloves, of course I know."
Shao Linyin still smiled: "Really? That's really... a coincidence..."
His smile gradually froze and he looked around the store.
It's not a top-tier luxury store, but it's definitely not a place where he can afford the price.
He twitched his lips and said, "You might be mistaken. My brother bought it at the canteen at his school."
The salesperson suddenly laughed: "It must be right. We are the only one who has the right to distribute our products. No one else has it. And this one in your hand is obviously authentic. You can't buy it anywhere else except us."
As he spoke, he went to the counter and picked up a pair: "I originally recommended this pair to him, but he picked out the pair you have on your hand. Isn't there a cherry on the wrist?"
Shao Linyin rubbed the place where he held his wrist with his thumb.
"A student who looks like a junior high school student, wearing the uniform of the city's No. 1 Middle School, tall and thin, and quite handsome. Is he your younger brother?"
Shao Liyin nodded: "Then, how much are these gloves?"
"Five thousand."
Shao Liyin: “!!”
If I had known earlier, I would have taken his 10,000 scholarship and saved it for him. It seems that he will have to take all the scholarships in the future. I will open an account for him and save it separately. What a prodigal boy!
The clerk, ready to go in with the takeaway, glanced at him and said, "You two are quite a good match. Society is quite tolerant these days, so there's no need to hide anything."
Shao Liyin: "Why do you say that? What am I hiding? Why should I hide it?"
"You said he was your brother, but isn't that just a cover-up? In comparison, your 'brother' is much more open and honest."
Shao Liyin: “???”
"He said he bought these gloves as a gift for his lover."
Shao Liyin: “!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
***
Time goes back to the day when Shao Linyin recovered from her fever. Tong Xiaolai went to school the next day.
Day students at No. 1 Middle School in the city were not required to attend evening self-study classes; it was voluntary. In the past, to save electricity at home, he would stay in the classroom until the last bus.
He didn't attend evening self-study that day. After class, he ran to a shopping mall early and went into a fur shop.
Shao Liyin was never stingy with the living expenses he gave her, and she would top up 1,500 yuan into his card every month, which was considered an above-average level among his classmates.
He could always save a thousand every month, and occasionally mentioned to Shao Linyin that he didn't need that much. Shao Linyin always thought he was saving.
Later on, I just let him do whatever he wanted, but I would ask my classmates to withdraw the money from the card in cash and keep it separately.
He spent a long time picking at the counter. The salesperson came over and asked, "Student, do you want to pick out a pair of gloves? For yourself or for yourself?"
"Give it to someone."
"Is it for parents, elders, or friends or classmates?"
He raised his eyes from the counter, staring into the void. After a long silence, he spoke solemnly, "My love."
The salesperson thought for a while and picked out a pair of pink shoes with a circle of white fluff on the wrist.
Tong Xiao took a look and shook his head: "He is a man."
Salesperson: “……!”
He lowered his head and started to choose again. "I want a pair of gloves that are warm, windproof, and won't affect my riding of the electric bike. It would be best if I could easily pick up things while wearing them."
After thinking for a moment, he added, "It looks a little low-key, and you can't tell the price."
The salesperson's good professionalism helped her recover quickly. She took a quick look inside the counter and picked out a pair of pure black leather gloves for him.
He tried it on and found it was indeed comfortable and warm, and it did not affect the movement of his fingers.
But black is too dark and not suitable for his brother Li.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a pair of shoes next to the counter. They were black and gray, with a bright red cherry embroidered on the wrist opening.
He remembered the little cake that time, which was decorated with a cherry. It was the sweetest cherry he had ever tasted.
"Hello, I want this pair."
The price was five thousand. He took out the bank card from his pocket and handed it over.
The salesperson smiled and said, "It's a blessing to be your lover."
Tong Xiaolai paused and corrected, "I am lucky to have him as my lover."
The salesperson was still in a daze, and Tong Xiaolai had already left with the gloves.
"Are students nowadays so mature..."
