This is a mutual redemption story, a heartwarming tale of ordinary ...
major
Shao Linyin's birthday was over, and Tong Xiaolai also had summer vacation, but it was only ten days long before he was pulled back to make up for his lessons. Now he was in his third year of high school, and the school made it so difficult for both teachers and students to have a break, especially since it was the No. 1 Middle School in the city and a key provincial school.
Shao Linyin continued to work as a delivery boy, and they had enough money to spend now, but he always thought that Xiaolai was going to college, and whether he would need more money then.
After the last incident with his master, he was always worried that if something really happened to him one day, he would have to save enough money for Xiaolai to live on in the future.
So the installation was completed, and there was no urgent need for ladder repairs during the day, so he basically did the necessary maintenance in the morning and afternoon.
He spends his lunch and evening time delivering takeout.
When he received the call from the principal, he was delivering takeout on his electric bike. Because of this call, he received the first bad review in all his years of delivering takeout.
He was on his way when the phone rang, and picked it up without even looking at the number: "Hello, how are you?"
"Hello, Xiao Shao, it's me, Dean Zhang."
The voice sounded familiar to him. He took another look at the number and it was indeed Principal Zhang from Xiaolai School. Apart from the time they first enrolled in school, they had never been in contact. His heart sank immediately. Did something happen to Xiaolai?
Before he could fully react, Principal Zhang asked again, "Do you have time to come over today?"
He braked suddenly, spilling the entire box of noodles and soup. He stopped by the roadside and suddenly felt dizzy from the scorching sun. Before his eyes, all he could see were large balls of black and white cotton wool. He couldn't see anything else. The noisy clamor on the road faded away, and he could hear his own voice, a little hoarse: "Yes, Xiaolai, did something happen?"
"No, Tong Xiaolai is a very nice classmate. He just wants to talk to you about something. Can you please come over when you have time?"
The heart that had been beating wildly in his throat finally calmed down a little. He loosened his other hand that was tightly gripping the handlebars and wiped the sweat from his forehead. Only then did the scene in front of him become clear again.
He didn't dare to delay Xiao Lai's matter, so he hung up the phone, gave the spilled noodles to the customer, apologized, and paid the other party for the meal. Then he transferred the three undelivered boxes to a nearby rider and rushed to the No. 1 Middle School in the city.
As soon as he arrived at the principal's office, the principal pulled him to sit down and poured him a cup of tea.
Shao Liyin was a little uneasy: "Principal, what's the matter? Just tell me directly."
The principal looked at him and smiled: "Don't be nervous, it's a good thing.
Tong Xiaolai is an excellent student. Over the past year or so, he has won national rankings in physics, mathematics, and chemistry competitions."
After hearing this, Shao Linyin felt relieved, knowing that it would not be a bad thing.
The principal continued, "Typically, if you achieve a national ranking in this kind of competition, top universities will directly issue you an acceptance letter. In other words, it's a recommended admission."
Shao Liyin looked at the principal, who explained, "Recommended admission means that Tong Xiaolai has been sought after by many schools, and his university admission is already secured."
"Principal, I understand what recommendation means."
headmaster:"……"
"What I don't understand is, why did you ask me to come here? Xiaolai has always made his own decisions. As for choosing a school or other issues, I won't interfere with his decision."
The principal's expression was indescribable. "The problem is, Tong Xiaolai didn't choose any school."
"What do you mean?" Shao Linyin frowned.
"He said he was going to take the college entrance examination."
"That's no problem. Just smile and be willing."
The principal looked at him in surprise. Few students and parents would give up this opportunity.
In the interest of the students, the parents, and the school's honor, he patiently persuaded: "Of course, we believe in Tong Xiaolai's ability.
But things like the college entrance exam are always unpredictable. What if you get sick on the day of the exam? Or have diarrhea? Or lose your admission ticket? These kinds of things happen every year."
The principal thought for a moment, seeming to feel that his words were too blunt, and added, "Of course, I'm not saying I'm cursing our students or anything like that. I just want to be on the safe side. Don't you agree?"
Shao Linyin fell into thought. He felt that what the principal said made sense.
"Now that there's such a great opportunity for recommendation, shouldn't you persuade Tong Xiaolai to seize it? Among these schools, there are also top institutions. Three of the top ten schools in the country have extended olive branches. I don't know what Tong Xiaolai is thinking."
Shao Liyin was unhappy when he heard this. He looked at the principal and said in a deep voice, "Principal, I don't agree with what you said. What do you mean by axis?"
My son Xiaolai has always had his own ideas, and I believe he has his own reasons and considerations for doing so."
"Yes, yes, I was in a hurry and said something wrong." The principal apologized hurriedly.
Shao Liyin did not push his luck further and gave the principal a way out: "Of course, I will persuade him when I go back, but it's just persuasion. The final decision is still his own."
"I understand." The principal stood up and sent Shao Linyin out. As he did so, he sighed in his heart, why is it that just because his younger brother is so stubborn, why is his older brother also so stubborn?
Shao Linyin did not leave the school directly. He sat downstairs for a while, on the bench next to the Phoenix forest. This was the third time they sat here.
It's midsummer again, and Xiaolai has been admitted to university.
He leaned back on the bench. It was lunchtime and there were few people on campus. It was very quiet.
The sky is a deep blue, and behind him is a fiery red. His smile brings a bright future, a brilliant light.
He took out his cell phone and sent a message to Tong Xiaolai. Five minutes later, Tong Xiaolai appeared in front of him with a somewhat cold expression.
"Did they call you?"
He raised his hand, stretched out his hand and held Tong Xiaolai's fingertips, looking at him with a smile: "Xiaolai, you seem to have grown taller again."
Tong Xiaolai took his hand and sat down next to him.
"You don't have to persuade me." Tong Xiaolai looked into the distance, not at him.
Shao Liyin said: "Who said I want to persuade you."
Tong Xiaolai turned his head and looked at him.
Shao Liyin smiled and said, "You are smart and have your own ideas. You always have your own opinions on such important matters. What's more, this is your own future. No one has the right to interfere with your choice of your own future."
Tong Xiaolai leaned against the back of the bench, lowered his eyes slightly, and stared at his toes. He was wearing the new shoes that Shao Linyin had just bought for him not long ago.
"But Xiaolai, can you tell me the reason?" He was worried that Xiaolai was worried because of him, for example, the place was too far away, or the tuition was too expensive.
"It's nothing, I just don't like those majors." Tong Xiaolai said lightly.
Shao Linyin thought about it and nodded, thinking it was reasonable.
"Why don't you ask me what major I want to study?"
Shao Liyin smiled: "After all, this is related to your future career choice. You have to study the major you like. I believe you have a clear idea in your mind."
Tong Xiaolai raised his head and looked at the high blue sky: "Brother Li, I will only study that major. Believe me, I can do it."
"Either one is fine. Don't put too much pressure on yourself." Shao Liyin ruffled his hair and stood up. "Go back quickly. You can still rest for a while."
