Love Scene: Evidence Not Allowed to Become Sentient

Yu Yao is a detective who firmly believes in materialism, and she trusts supernatural things the least.

Yet, ever since she was little, she could hear strange things.

At the crime scene...

Chapter 49

Bai Fang nodded. "If the village the little girl just mentioned is the same as the direction you asked Shu about, then maybe that's the way out."

"But... the way out that little girl just mentioned seems to be the way to the village? It doesn't seem like the way back to where we originally came from?"

Yu Yao was stunned. "If you put it that way...it seems so..."

When asking the tree for directions, he only said to go out, but did not specify which direction to go out. Yu Yao also had no idea which direction she came from. The place was shrouded in white mist, and there were only hazy shadows of trees passing by. It was already very good to be able to walk out of here smoothly.

"Anyway, let's get out of here. It's better than getting lost in here." Bai Fang held Yu Yao and continued walking forward. "No matter where we are after we get out, we can find the direction. It's much safer than in the woods."

"Okay." Yu Yao nodded and continued walking forward with Bai Fang.

Afraid of getting lost accidentally, the two of them basically didn't dare to walk around and walked straight ahead. As they walked, the fog around them gradually thinned out, and they could see more and more objects.

Perhaps the fog was particularly thick in the center of the forest, and became thinner as it approached the edge. Now that the surroundings had become clear, it meant that they were already at the edge of the woods.

"It seems that this is indeed not the way we came." Yu Yao looked around, trying to catch some traces of the two people passing by here before, but this area was completely unfamiliar.

"Yeah." Bai Fang nodded in agreement. Not to mention the trees, the weeds on the ground were completely different from the path they came from. There was a narrow gap between the dense woods in front. The light from outside shone in through the dark path, becoming the only signpost in this dim woods.

The two people followed the light coming in from outside and slowly walked out of the foggy forest.

"Huh?" Yu Yao asked in confusion as she came out of the woods. She looked around and found that after coming out of the woods, she did not see the original street full of abandoned factories, but a small village surrounded by trees on all sides.

At first glance, there is a group of low earthen houses with large areas of land on both sides. It looks like crops are grown there, but it seems that they have not been planted for a long time and many weeds have grown there.

The intersection of the village was also extremely quiet, without any sound of people. The entire area was deserted, let alone people living there.

"Is this the village the little girl mentioned earlier?" Yu Yao asked in confusion. "It doesn't look like what I imagined."

Bai Fang couldn't help but become alert. "At least this place is strange, that's for sure."

Yu Yao nervously scanned the large village not far away, as well as the unusually quiet area. "Do you think Liang Yubai is here?"

"If that strange woman brings Liang Yubai back here, and there's nowhere to hide in the woods, the only place left is this village, right?"

Thinking about it this way, it is very likely that Liang Yubai is here.

Yu Yao turned to look at Bai Fang and pointed towards the village over there. "Shall we go take a look?"

Bai Fang looked back at the woods behind him. It would be dangerous to turn around and leave the woods. It was very likely that Liang Yubai was here, so it would be safer to take her away with him.

"Let's go and take a look." Bai Fang nodded.

Yu Yao immediately pulled her along and started heading towards the village.

This village looks particularly old, and I don’t know how long it has been here. The entrance to the village is very dilapidated. Looking inside along a small path, there are a lot of uneven earthen houses, overgrown with weeds, and no one lives there.

Yu Yaoguang could feel a chill just standing at the entrance of the village, which was very similar to the time when she was at Yelai River before. It was certain that there were definitely ghosts in this area.

"Doctor Bai, please be careful when we go in." Yu Yao couldn't help but remind him nervously.

Bai Fang nodded.

Yu Yao took her hand and moved carefully towards the village.

The moment I passed the village entrance, the noisy voices instantly filled my ears. I just took a step inside, and the desolate village in front of me changed in an instant. The village was clean and tidy, with people coming and going, and it was very lively. Many people were walking around the village carrying hoes, and there were children running back and forth. Even the yard that was empty before had some poultry.

In just a blink of an eye, the village in front of them was full of people, and it was so lively that it seemed as if the two of them had walked into the wrong place.

This strange scene shocked Yu Yao so much that she stayed where she was. She looked back blankly and saw that the fields outside, which were full of weeds before, actually had crops. It was as if the two of them had come to another space in an instant.

"Huh? These two sisters look so strange?" Among the children playing, one noticed the two people standing there in a daze first, and the others immediately cast their eyes over and looked at them curiously.

Yu Yao froze and subconsciously pulled Bai Fang to leave the village. However, this time when they came out, the surroundings had not changed at all, and it was still the bustling village.

Can't go back?

Yu Yao was stunned. Before she could react, a child spun to her side like a top, looking at her curiously.

"Sister, are you from outside?"

Yu Yao froze. Bai Fang pulled Yu Yao towards him and stared at the people around him nervously.

Perhaps because two strangers suddenly appeared, many people in the village were looking at them. Although the gazes were not dangerous, they made the people who were staring at them feel cold.

"Hmm, hmm..." Yu Yao responded to the child softly. She felt her heart beating violently and looked towards the village nervously.

Is it too late to run into the woods now?

"Just yesterday we had a new sister here. With you guys in, there are now three new sisters." The child cheered excitedly, seeming very happy. "There are so many new sisters to play with me!"

"Yesterday?" Yu Yao quickly grasped the important information. "Did anyone come to your place yesterday?"

"Yeah!" The child nodded, his eyes very innocent. "It was a sister in white clothes. She was wet when she came. She fainted and just woke up today."

Yu Yao was stunned. Isn’t that Liang Yubai?

"Where is she? Can you take us to see her?"

"Okay!" the child responded excitedly, extending his hand to Yu Yao. "I'll take my sister to see her."

Yu Yao stared at the child's outstretched hand, and hesitantly stretched out her fingers to touch the child's hand. Although it was frighteningly cold, it felt quite normal to the touch.

The child grabbed Yu Yao's tentative finger and happily pulled her towards the village.

Yu Yao was led away, and Bai Fang had no choice but to follow. The two of them were led into the village by the child. The adults around them just glanced at them and turned around to go about their own business.

As soon as the two entered the village, they began to look around nervously. Being in such a strange environment, no one could feel at ease.

There were many people in the houses on both sides of the village secretly looking at them through the windows. Two strangers suddenly appeared in the village. They did not question or check, but just looked at and observed from a distance. This was already very strange. There were also people watching in secret. The whole village gave people a very strange feeling.

Considering that Liang Yubai was here, they had no choice but to come in and take a look.

"It's right here." The child led them to the gate of a mud house and pointed inside. "She's inside."

Yu Yao nodded and looked towards the small courtyard and the inner room. She found that there was food placed at the door, but it was just there and not brought in.

"By the way, sister, please help me bring the food to that sister. She refuses to come out or eat no matter what." The child picked up the food on the ground and handed it to Yu Yao. It looked like normal clear soup and vegetables.

Yu Yao took it doubtfully, "Why don't you take it in yourself?"

The child happily spun around in circles, "Because I can't get in."

After saying this, he ran away like a little top.

Yu Yao stared blankly at the food in her hands, then turned her head to look at the yard, "Anyway, let's go in and see Liang Yubai first."

Bai Fang nodded and followed Yu Yao into the yard.

As soon as they entered the courtyard of the earthen house, they found that there were scribbled red words on the walls of the courtyard, including on the floor of the house. It looked like some traces left by Liang Yubai.

Yu Yao brought the food and Bai Fang went up and knocked on the door.

A vigilant voice instantly rang out from inside, "Who?! How did you get in?"

The voice belonged to Liang Yubai.

Hearing that she was fine, Yu Yao immediately relaxed a lot and raised her voice, "It's me, Yu Yao."

Liang Yubai paused in the room, quietly opened the door a crack and took a look outside. Seeing the two people coming in, he was also stunned, "Why are you two here?"

"I came to see you."

Liang Yubai peeked out through the crack in the door before opening it. "Come in, but don't bring in the food. I won't eat it."

Yu Yao said "Oh", put the food outside the door, and followed Bai Fang into the house.

After the two came in, Liang Yubai immediately closed the door. After taking a vigilant look out the window, he turned around and looked at the two people, "How did you get here?"

"I asked questions along the way, and then came here after passing through a foggy forest." Yu Yao responded while looking around the house. It looked like an ordinary room with a bed and a table, but nothing else.

"A foggy forest? Then I know where we were taken." Liang Yubai nodded, turned and stared at the two of them, "But it's too dangerous for just the two of you to come."

"Do you know where this place is? Fortunately, you are all fine." Liang Yubai muttered to himself as he looked around Yu Yao, checking that there was nothing strange on her body.

"This place is quite strange. What kind of place is this?" Yu Yao still finds it incredible when she recalls the strange situation when she entered the village.

Liang Yubai stood at the window and pointed outside, "This place used to be a village, but now it's a cemetery."
