What kind of world is this? She's been here for almost a year and still doesn't understand what's going on.

“You did the right thing!” Hu Mingmei said in a low voice. “You did it to protect yourself and San Niang. If you hadn’t done it, you and San Niang would both have been in danger.”

Bai Nuo knew all this, of course. She knew that a male prisoner wouldn't end up in a women's prison for no reason, and that he wouldn't go to any of the many women's prisons, but instead went to theirs.

This doesn't make sense from any perspective. That man was trying to defile a woman. No matter which cell he went to, it wouldn't be defilement. How could he have gone straight from the first cell in the women's prison to the last cell? How did he know that the last cell was occupied?

But she just couldn't get over this hurdle. Bai Nuo turned to look at Hu Mingmei and asked softly, "If I really got... you know... done to me, would you mind?"

Hu Mingmei thought for a moment and nodded. "Yes, only I can touch my woman. I will mind if anyone else touches her. However, this is not something you wanted, and it didn't happen, so you shouldn't make these assumptions."

"But what if it happens!" Bai Nuo persisted, determined to get an answer.

"I won't let that happen!" Hu Mingmei said firmly. "Before it happens, I'll kill that man. I'll protect you!"

"But!" Bai Nuo broke free from Hu Mingmei's embrace, looking at him coldly. "How will you protect me? Like that day, that person... that person even came to our prison, where were you?" As she spoke, Bai Nuo started to cry, tears streaming down her face like beads from a broken string. "To put it bluntly, you just don't love me!"

When Hu Mingmei saw her crying, he panicked and frantically wiped away Bai Nuo's tears. "Don't cry. How did things escalate to this point? Nothing happened, right? And you're capable of protecting yourself. Besides, nothing happened, right? If it had, I would indeed be so angry that I would kill someone. I would do everything in my power to kill the man who defiled you, but that doesn't mean I don't love you!"

Bai Nuo wiped away her tears and choked out, "But you mind? If you mind, it means you don't love me!"

"No..." Hu Mingmei tried to explain, but Bai Nuo wouldn't listen to him. She stood up from the bed, stepped off, and dragged Hu Mingmei down, saying, "Go away, go away, I don't want to see you!"

"What's wrong?" Hu Mingmei looked at her, completely bewildered. He wanted to say something, but Bai Nuo pushed him out the door before he could even get a chance.

"Don't come in!" Bai Nuo looked at him coldly, her eyes and face filled with tears. "Get out, I don't want to see you!"

As he spoke, the door slammed shut.

“Nono.......”

Hu Mingmei was completely baffled. Standing at the door listening to the crying inside, she felt extremely flustered and could only shout, "Okay, okay, I won't come in, I won't come in, please stop crying."

To everyone's surprise, Bai Nuo cried even harder when she heard his words.

"Okay, okay!" Hu Mingmei heard Bai Nuo crying so hard she was almost breathless, and was afraid she would hurt herself, so she had no choice but to give in. "Okay, okay, I'll leave, I'll leave, alright? Stop crying!"

After he finished speaking, he received no response from Bai Nuo, so Hu Mingmei had no choice but to leave.

As soon as Hu Mingmei came out of Bai Nuo's courtyard, he saw Granny Zhao sweeping the floor outside. As soon as Granny Zhao saw Hu Mingmei come out, she came up and greeted him softly, "Young Master Hu".

Hu Mingmei had just had a fight with Bai Nuo and was in a very bad mood. She left without saying a word. Just as she was about to leave the courtyard, she saw Grandma and the others returning.

"Grandma!" Hu Mingmei had to stop and greet her. He looked at the old woman and saw that the person pushing her was not Aunt Liu, but a woman he had never seen before. Aunt Liu was standing to the side.

"Mingmei!" The old woman was quite surprised to see Hu Mingmei, and was genuinely delighted. Without anyone pushing her, she slid over to Hu Mingmei, grabbed her arm, and looked her up and down. "You're back? Where's Nuonuo?"

Facing an elderly woman, Hu Mingmei couldn't very well put on a cold and aloof face and vent her anger from arguing with Bai Nuo on the old woman. So she said calmly, "Nuonuo is in her room!"

"Go and call her out!" the old woman said angrily. "I want to ask her if she still considers us family? Does she even respect me as her old lady? Why has she been gone for so long without even saying goodbye!"

Hu Mingmei explained, "Grandma, Nuonuo didn't do it on purpose. It just happened suddenly. There was an emergency at the workshop, and we had to rush over."

"Go away!" the old woman said irritably, ignoring Hu Mingmei's explanation. "Call her out!"

Having no other choice, Hu Mingmei turned around and walked towards Bai Nuo's courtyard.

After Hu Mingmei left, the old woman turned to the young woman standing behind her and said, "We have some family matters to attend to, please go back!"

The young woman smiled broadly, completely disregarding the old woman's rudeness and showing no embarrassment. She pushed the old woman's wheelchair directly onto the wheelchair. "Grandma, you're being too polite. Although I'm Chen Zhi's wife, Chen Zhi still calls Uncle Bai 'father,' so you're naturally Chen Zhi's grandmother. As his new wife, it's only natural for me to serve you. It's so awkward that I haven't even greeted my sister-in-law yet. This is really inappropriate. I'll just say hello and leave.
