Chapter 23 She's Coming Back

The wedding of the Fu family was causing quite a stir in Jiangcheng, and people from small family businesses were particularly proud of receiving an invitation.

These days, Song Xingyao has been staying at the old house. Jiang Man said that she could get married from the old house, which would be more glamorous, and Song Xingyao was very touched.

Jiang Man paid even more attention to the details of the wedding preparations, which touched Song Xingyao deeply. Jiang Man was truly kind to her, and the warmth she felt was a kind of care from an elder that Song Xingyao had never experienced before.

Even so, as the wedding date approached, Song Xingyao still felt a vague unease.

In the afternoon, Fu Bowen, whom she hadn't seen in a long time, returned to the old house. Song Xingyao still politely greeted him, "Big Brother."

Fu Bowen simply nodded, and the two went upstairs one after the other.

As Song Xingyao reached the corner, she heard Fu Bowen's voice coming from behind her.

"Sister-in-law, you're getting married soon, but Ah Ming has been so busy lately. Don't you care at all?"

Song Xingyao didn't rush to respond, but just glanced back at him. Fu Bowen was leaning against the wall, a cigarette between his fingers that hadn't been lit.

"She's coming back. I already told you this news beforehand, even Ah Ming didn't know. Happy wedding, sister-in-law." His eyes held a playful glint, and his tone was somewhat light.

Who is she? Fu Bowen's words only touched on the subject, without providing an answer to this difficult question.

As he passed by Song Xingyao, he nodded in a seemingly profound manner.

After hearing these words, her unease intensified.

She thought she roughly knew who she was in this context, but how did Fu Bowen know about this? Why didn't he tell Fu Siming? Instead, he brought it up in front of her.

For the next two days, Fu Siming neither returned to the old house nor could he be contacted.

Seeing that Song Xingyao seemed absent-minded, Jiang Man hurriedly called her. It was Pei Jing who said, "President Fu, there's something urgent that needs to be dealt with. Is there anything I can pass on?"

Fu Siming left in a hurry, but as his special assistant, he knew where Fu Siming went and what he was doing. However, working for the boss and having to deal with the boss's family was a dilemma.

He could only pray that his boss could come back before the wedding. Money was hard to earn, and life was tough, that's what he thought, but his boss was giving him so much.

The wedding is tomorrow, but Fu Siming has disappeared without a trace. Jiang Man is even more anxious than Song Xingyao, the bride.

However, Song Xingyao remembered what Fu Bowen had said a couple of days ago, so she called Fu Bowen.

Fu Bowen sat in the Fu Group building, looking at the incoming call on his phone, a hint of pleasure in his eyes as if a fish had taken the bait.

"Hello? Sister-in-law? Why are you calling me at this hour?"

She didn't beat around the bush and asked directly, "Do you know where Fu Siming went?"

It was unclear whether it was the word "you" that made him laugh, but Fu Bowen's tone was tinged with a light chuckle.

"You can't find your husband, and now you're asking me? But I do have some information."

Song Xingyao was still waiting for him to continue, and the two remained silent for a while, seeing that the woman on the other side did not intend to speak.

Fu Bowen then said, "I'll talk to you in person when we get to the Fu Group building."

He then instructed his secretary to have the receptionist keep an eye out. In truth, he couldn't control Song Xingyao and wasn't sure if she would come. If she did, things would be much easier.

He wondered why Fu Siming could gain recognition so easily, and why he could run Tiansheng so successfully after giving up the Fu family business, becoming the only one in the industry.

He was just unhappy that he could accomplish everything so easily, and the more things he had around him, the more irritated he became.

From the first day his good younger brother announced his marriage, he knew that Song Xingyao was a substitute for Fu Yao, but Song Xingyao had a coolness, composure and sensitivity that Fu Yao did not have.

In terms of appearance, although the two have similarities, Song Xingyao's appearance is obviously more delicate and lively. Her eyes should be crystal clear, but they are impossible to understand. Sometimes, it is as if her eyes can see through you, making you want to run away.

Fu Yao was just an empty-headed idiot, but three years ago, this idiot disappeared. He had investigated and found that his mother had met her once.

It's likely that her own mother looked down on her status as an orphan who had been adopted. Although she was already a daughter of a wealthy family and often pretended to be gentle and respectful, she couldn't shake off her rascal nature deep down.

He had thought that his mother would definitely not like Song Xingyao because of her background, but her attitude was unexpected.

Contrary to her usual behavior, her mother was very satisfied with Song Xingyao, and gradually she also became curious about this seemingly obedient yet resolute woman in front of her.

About two hours later, the secretary helped lead the person to the office.

Fu Bowen looked up at the woman in front of him, but didn't speak immediately.

Song Xingyao politely broke the silence: "Is there anything that can only be explained in person, big brother?"

With a respectful yet distant air, Fu Bowen gestured, "Sit down first, let's talk slowly."

Just as Song Xingyao was about to refuse, the man's voice rang out.

Don't you want to know where he went?

Song Xingyao sat down on the sofa and waited quietly for him to speak.

Fu Bowen got up from his office chair, took a brown paper bag from his drawer, and threw it on the transparent coffee table.

The heavy bag landed heavily on the glass tabletop. The bulging bag resembled Pandora's box, and one wondered what might escape when it was opened.
