In the unknown century of Guangyuan, the unnamed galaxy achieved unification. To address population issues, a marriage matching system was developed, forcibly pairing people through data calculatio...
"Without evidence, you're making a false accusation and framing someone." Instructor Zhang sneered, "Article 42 of the Military Discipline Management Regulations states that anyone who makes a false accusation and frames a superior shall be discharged from the military."
"Oh dear, I'm so scared." Yu Wei didn't take the instructor seriously at all. "My eyes are the best proof."
"Yu Wei, you need evidence to back up your claims..."
Instructor Zhang felt extremely guilty. The thought of being threatened by a mere kid made him furious, and the presence of other trainees only added to his embarrassment.
"Instructor Zhang, a 365-degree high-definition, no-blind-spot surveillance system has just been installed on the field." Yu Wei crossed his arms and looked at the instructor with a leisurely air: "Article 20 of the Alliance Military Discipline Management Regulations states that no one may use their military status to harass others in any form on any occasion. This regulation applies to superiors to subordinates, instructors to teachers, and between soldiers. Anyone who violates this order will be discharged from the military and handed over to a military court for trial according to law."
"You win!"
Instructor Zhang glared fiercely at Yu Wei, zipped up his pants, and angrily led his men away.
Yu Wei took off his coat and threw it at Chu Yunmu, then turned his back to him and started fiddling with the basketball.
"Thanks."
Chu Yunmu spoke softly, the joy of surviving the ordeal almost bringing him to tears.
"You're welcome." Yu Wei waved his hand. "I won't tell anyone about what happened today, don't worry."
Chu Yunmu bit his lip, afraid that he would cry. Yu Wei mistakenly thought that he was worried about the surveillance, so he immediately explained, "The surveillance was just installed and has not been officially put into use yet."
Otherwise, he wouldn't dare to openly come to the indoor basketball court to play basketball; his father, Yu Zhen, would scold him to death.
"Thank you." Chu Yunmu straightened her clothes and sat down next to Yu Wei. "I'll wash the coat and return it to you."
"It's okay, you can pay me back slowly. It's so hot, I'm too lazy to wear a coat."
Yu Wei stretched and lay on the court. If he wasn't afraid of being lectured by his father, Lin Ling, when he went home for vacation, he wouldn't have wanted to wear a coat when he went out.
"I...I'm leaving now."
Chu Yunmu got up and left quickly. Yu Wei hadn't differentiated and couldn't smell pheromones, but he was in his susceptible period. If he stayed any longer, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"Let's play ball together sometime."
Chu Yunmu nodded. He didn't like playing basketball, but he suddenly really wanted to learn.
“I remember you don’t smoke.” Zhou Siyu opened the window and handed a photo frame to Chu Yunmu: “I remember you have an identical amulet.”
“Yu Wei doesn’t like the smell of cigarettes, so I usually sneak around smoking them.”
"It's not exactly the same, it's just one." Chu Yunmu took the photo frame and gently stroked the smiling boy in the photo. He slowly said, "But I lent it to Yu Wei temporarily during that mission."
"Which time? When?"
Zhou Siyu grabbed Chu Yunmu's hand eagerly, desperate to know the answer.
"In 228, when he was sent to the 21st planet to carry out a rescue mission, he insisted on going back to save people, and we couldn't stop him."
That year, a massive earthquake struck Planet Twenty-One. The research team sent by Oran Laboratory was trapped in a cave. Due to a shortage of local rescue personnel, the Alliance assigned Yu Wei, Lin Gu, and Chu Yunmu to lead a joint rescue operation.
The cave is actually a half-mined tunnel that is wider at the front and narrower at the back. The terrain is rugged and complex, with many intricate paths.
The rescue team used every means to rescue the trapped researchers, but when they took a headcount, they found that one person was missing.
Yu Wei checked the list again and again, and finally confirmed that a person named Zhou Siyu had not yet been rescued, so he insisted on going back to search for him.
But no one knew when the aftershocks would arrive, and no one wanted to lose a bright and promising young man because of an unknown researcher.
Chu Yunmu couldn't refuse Yu Wei, so she could only take off the amulet and hand it to him, hoping he would return safely.
Fortunately, Yu Wei managed to get the person out a minute before the aftershock hit, successfully completing the mission.
"So it was him that day."
Zhou Siyu lowered her head and laughed loudly, tears streaming down her face.
He was wrong, terribly wrong. He mistook his savior for his own, and his ideal woman for someone else.
They had been so close; he had heard his heartbeat up close. Yet, he pushed him away with his own hands, gradually widening the distance between them, and personally sending him to his death.
"The person he saved...was you?"
Chu Yunmu was stunned. He thought Yu Wei simply wanted to complete the mission, but he didn't expect that it was for that person, or more precisely, for that name, for someone who might have the same name.
He knew that Yu Wei's happy childhood was marred by a single, unfortunate kidnapping, and that a man named Zhou Siyu had saved him.
Yu Wei was sent to the youth training base at the age of eleven, and spent his vacation time in the sanatorium, so he had no way of knowing what Zhou Siyu would look like nine years later.
So, he was risking his life for a name back then?
"I thought that person... was you." Zhou Siyu sat down on the floor, weakly raising her hand: "Do you have a cigarette?"
Chu Yunmu sighed, took out a cigarette, lit it, and handed it to Zhou Siyu.
"Cough cough cough..."
Zhou Siyu took a sip and choked quite badly, tears streaming down her face.
"If you don't know how to smoke, then don't. Yu Wei doesn't like the smell of smoke." Chu Yunmu snatched the cigarette and stubbed it out. "If he knew I taught you to smoke, he'd probably come and beat me up tonight."
He wasn't stupid; he could tell that Yu Wei truly loved Zhou Siyu, loved him so much that he spoiled him rotten and wished he could give him his heart.
"Yes, he doesn't like it."
Zhou Siyu leaned against the flower stand, one foot flat and the other bent.
