Chapter 62 You Must Live for Yourself at Least Once

Zhou Siyu glanced at the clock on the wall, a sly glint in her eyes, and pulled Yu Zhen to the dressing room.

After some careful selection, Zhou Siyu looked at Yu Zhen in the mirror with satisfaction.

A black V-neck shirt, black trousers, paired with a baby face with red lips and white teeth, create a striking contrast that strikes the soul—gentle yet not seductive, noble and aloof.

"How long have you been with Lin Gu?" Zhou Siyu leaned against the wall, her left leg slightly bent, her left hand hanging naturally, and her index finger gently tapping her knee.

“Thirteen years.” Yu Zhen looked at the person in the mirror, her thoughts drifting far away.

At the age of sixteen, he differentiated into an Omega, which meant he had come of age, and his family began looking for a suitable Alpha for him.

He hated this kind of matchmaking, so he found an excuse to move out and live alone. During the day he was a well-behaved and quiet good student, and at night he was a delinquent youth who frequented bars.

On his eighteenth birthday, he made an excuse not to go home and went to a bar to attend a birthday party his friends threw for him. It just so happened that he was in his most vulnerable period that day, and on his way to the restroom, he grabbed someone at random and used them as a human suppressant.

He had intended to simply ignore the man, but instead, the man carried him to a hotel and tormented him all night, leaving him nearly dazed. When he came to, he realized he had no recollection of the man's appearance, but he didn't think much of it; he figured he could just wash off the mark.

On the first day of the new semester, he learned one piece of good news and one piece of bad news. The bad news was that the school and the Allied Army were jointly organizing basic military skills training; the good news was that Yu Wei was on the list of instructors.

Before meeting his own instructor, Yu Zhen was absolutely certain that Yu Wei was his instructor. It wasn't until the first day, when he saw Yu Wei in a line across the playground, that he suddenly realized, damn it, Yu Wei was the instructor of the next class! And his instructor was Lin Gu, a stern-faced, annoying jerk who only knew how to scold people. He especially loved scolding him, relentlessly nitpicking even the smallest mistakes.

Later he learned that among the potential partners Lin Gu had arranged for him at home was an A-level Alpha, Yu Wei's good friend, and what's worse, he seemed to be a humanoid inhibitor that he had grabbed on the spur of the moment.

After discovering this, he kept avoiding Lin Gu, hoping that one day Lin Gu would also be drunk and forget him.

However, things didn't go as planned. On the day training ended, Lin cornered him in the bathroom and took him back to that crazy night.

"Yu Zhen, I want to pursue you." Lin Gu buried her head in his shoulder, smiling softly. "Give me a chance?"

“You…have no chance.” Yu Zhen’s legs went weak as she leaned against the partition. “Although we are very close now, it doesn’t mean I agree to be with you.”

"Don't you want to be with me?" Lin Gu raised an eyebrow, putting his arm around Yu Zhen's waist. "You're in this state, and you still want to find someone else?"

"It's just a matter of mutual benefit." Yu Zhen closed his eyes and slowly exhaled. When he opened his eyes again, there was no longer any lust in them. "Besides, your technique is too poor."

"Still being stubborn." Lin Gu wasn't annoyed, she just gently pinched his chin. "It's my business if I want to pursue you, and it's your business whether you agree or not."

"Oh." Yu Zhen squinted slightly, tilted her head to look at Lin Gu, and laughed out loud: "Then let's see what you can do."

The two later broke up and got back together repeatedly, separating due to various conflicts and misunderstandings, but eventually they came together again.

He didn't want to get married so early, but Lin Gu kept bringing it up, and his family was urging him to, so he simply did as they wished and registered for marriage.

"You've been married to him for six years," Zhou Siyu said thoughtfully, stroking her chin. "And since then, you haven't gone outside at all?"

Come to think of it, Yu Zhen and Lin Gu got married just a few days after him and Yu Wei, almost one after the other. But their child is already six years old, while his wife is still acting like a fool.

"No." Yu Zhen shook his head. "You can play around before marriage, but after marriage you should return to your family and take on responsibilities."

"You're the only one taking responsibility for the relationship?" Zhou Siyu rolled her eyes and walked over to Yu Zhen. "Yu Zhen, have you ever thought that you should be yourself first, and then a father and a partner?"

"If you don't even love yourself, how can others possibly love you? If you think that you can win Lin Gu's heart by giving silently, then you're wrong."

“People are just like that,” Zhou Siyu said, straightening Yu Zhen’s shoulder. “They always regret it after they’ve lost it.”

"Lin Gu has the inclination to flirt with other women simply because he's certain you won't leave. He's taking advantage of your attachment to this family and acting with impunity. You need to make him feel threatened, understand?"

"Understood."

Yu Zhen nodded and pulled Zhou Siyu outside.

He's young, handsome, slim-waisted, and long-legged. Why should he hang himself on Lin Gu? Let Lin Gu flirt with whomever he wants, and bring whomever he wants home. Let Lin Nianyu cling to whomever she wants—I don't care!

No one is indispensable in another person's life. Lin Gu doesn't like him, but a lot of people do. Lin Nianyu hates him, but he still has a lot of work to do. Why bother trying to win someone's heart?

Where are you two going?

Seeing the two people rushing around so energetically, Lin Gu and Qin Ge were both stunned, their minds going blank for a moment.

Yu Zhen ignored him, pulled Zhou Siyu into the car, and drove away.

He is not someone who seeks stability at heart, so naturally he cannot stay in a cage for the rest of his life.

Rather than wasting time in a protracted and futile struggle, cutting your losses in time is the best approach.

The deafening music drowned out all other sounds. Yu Zhen went to the bar, ordered two drinks, and sat down next to Zhou Siyu.

"We're drinking until we drop tonight!"

Why should Lin Gu be able to bring others into his home while he has to stay home doing laundry and cooking? Why should Lin Gu be able to roam among women while he has to stay with that ingrate? He refuses! He wants his own life too, and his life should never be tied down.
