In the unknown century of Guangyuan, the unnamed galaxy achieved unification. To address population issues, a marriage matching system was developed, forcibly pairing people through data calculatio...
Yu Wei rested his head on his shoulder. Even the strongest person needs someone to lean on when they are sad. Even if it's just for a second, it's enough to cheer them up and give them the energy to face the difficulties ahead.
Essen didn't speak, but simply gazed quietly at the distant, rolling mountains.
His younger brother died in a war, killed by the Allied forces. He was so young, just like Yu Wei. When he was happy, his eyes would light up, and when he was sad, his leaves would droop, and he would sit on the rooftop in a daze.
"Brother, why are we fighting?"
"Brother, why are there wars in this world?"
"Brother, let's stop fighting, okay? Let's go home, okay?"
He didn't understand why there was a war, why there was a conflict, or why he didn't want to leave with Ellis. If they had left sooner, he might not have died.
"Lan." Essen lowered his head and gently stroked the soft leaves in his arms. "What do you plan to do after the war?"
"If I could, I would buy a big spaceship and travel through the stars to see the scenery of every planet."
Yu Wei swung his legs, his eyes full of anticipation for the future. In his eyes, it seemed there was a deep sky, a blue sea, soaring eagles, galloping wild horses, a stunning sunset, and blooming flowers.
Which side do you hope will win?
Yu Wei raised his head and looked at Essen with a puzzled expression, but there was a storm raging in his eyes.
“I don’t know.” Yu Wei shook his head, sat up straight and looked into the distance. “I hope there will never be a war again, no matter what the reason, whether it is a power struggle or a discrimination dispute, whether it is for private or public interests, there should never be a war again.”
"People can live and work in peace and contentment, leading happy and fulfilling lives. Parents don't have to lose their children, wives don't have to lose their husbands, children don't have to lose their fathers, and everyone has a decent income. That would be wonderful."
"You hate war?"
"Yes."
Yu Wei nodded. "I hate all forms of violence and war, and I hate all those who disrupt peace."
The crowd suddenly became noisy. Yu Wei lowered his head and saw a person wearing a white cloak slowly walking towards him, surrounded by a group of people.
Upon seeing that white figure in the crowd, Yu Wei's eyelids twitched, and his heart leaped into his throat.
"The leader has arrived, let's go."
Essen patted Yu Wei on the shoulder, pulled him downstairs, and squeezed into the queue.
"Captain Essen, hello."
The person in the white cloak stopped in front of Essen and extended a gloved hand, which Essen gently shook. "It is my honor to meet you."
The cool voice sounded somewhat familiar. Yu Wei looked up and met a pair of blue eyes, instantly freezing in place.
To treat an enemy as one's most trusted confidant is a sign that one's brain has been kicked by a donkey, slammed in a door, or short-circuited due to water damage!
Thinking of the possible horrors that might occur in the air-raid shelter, Yu Wei felt a chill run down his spine. He took a step back, squeezed into the crowd, and was about to sneak away when someone grabbed him by the back of the neck.
“Lan, haven’t you always admired the leader?” Essen grabbed him and pushed him forward. “Come and meet the leader.”
"Hello...you..."
Yu Wei braced himself and reached out, hoping the other person wouldn't discover his true identity.
"Hello, Lan..."
The chilling voice pierced Yu Wei's heart like an ice pick. Yu Wei's eyelids twitched. The next second, the other person suddenly leaned close to his ear and whispered, "We meet again, Yu, General..."
His voice was neither too loud nor too soft, just loud enough for Essen, who was standing next to Yu Wei, to hear. Yu Wei's body stiffened, his hands and feet turned ice cold, and the blood in his body instantly froze.
He dared not look at Essen's expression, clenching his teeth tightly, ready to strike at any moment.
"Chief, you may be mistaken. He is my brother."
Essen calmly shielded Yu Wei behind him, his dark eyes showing no joy or sorrow, no surprise, and no anger at being deceived, as if he had known all along.
"Wow, there are so many people. Looks like I've caught the most exciting time."
A soft laugh echoed from the cloudless sky, and dozens of spaceships slowly appeared. Lin Gu sat by the hatch, leisurely swinging his legs.
After saying that, he waved to Yu Wei and said, "Old Yu, your outfit... hahaha... are you trying to make me laugh to death so you can inherit my fortune?"
“We are not related, so I am not eligible to inherit your estate.”
The vines bound the second-floor railing. Yu Wei lightly touched the ground with his toes and leaped into the air, landing lightly on the balcony. The golden vines quickly faded away, replaced by a silver mecha.
A black longsword suddenly appeared in his hand. Yu Wei gripped the sword tightly, put away his helmet, and looked at Essen. "I'm sorry for deceiving you. Let me reintroduce myself. My name is Yu Wei."
The spaceship lowered rows of ropes, and fully armed people slid down the ropes to the ground and rooftops, set up their guns, and were ready to launch an attack at any moment.
"Mission objective: Capture Mondor Lakaya alive." Lin Gu used the aircraft to jump to Yu Wei's side, patted him on the shoulder, and said, "I've been looking forward to fighting alongside you for a long time."
After saying that, he waved his hand and whispered into the walkie-talkie, "Action!"
"receive!"
"receive!"
"receive!"
"Good buddy, are you planning to just stand here and watch?"
Lin Gu glanced at Yu Wei, raised his gun, aimed, and shot an orc to death. "Beautiful!"
"Essen, leave it to me."
Yu Wei put on his helmet, grabbed his knife, and leaped into the crowd. Seeing this, the other soldiers also rushed into the crowd.
"Shit!"
Lin Gu missed his shot, the bullet grazing Essen's cheek, and he cursed in dissatisfaction.
