In the unknown century of Guangyuan, the unnamed galaxy achieved unification. To address population issues, a marriage matching system was developed, forcibly pairing people through data calculatio...
"If you're free, please send it to me as soon as possible."
Lin Ling hung up the communicator with a smile. Yu Wei wouldn't lie; it seemed his brocade herb had been poisoned.
"dad……"
Yu Wei stared at the words "Switched Off" on the communication panel, resting his chin on his hand and lost in worry.
The garlic sprouts were all gone, with only the tops left. If Lin Ling saw them, he'd be skinned alive.
Never mind, I'll go back and take a look first. What if it's resilient and... has grown back?
The military hospital wasn't far from the family compound, but Yu Wei was called to a meeting halfway there and didn't return to the family compound until evening.
"General Yu."
"General Yu."
People passing by greeted him warmly, and Yu Wei responded to each one.
Upon reaching the top of the stairs, Yu Wei stopped in front of the half-open door, pulled out his gun, and cautiously gripped the doorknob.
The living room was empty, with two pairs of shoes in the entryway. Yu Wei frowned but didn't think much of it. Yu Wen and Yu Zhen would occasionally come to the house, so there was nothing to be surprised about.
Strange sounds came from the bedroom, which had its door slightly ajar. The familiar scent of orchids mingled with the scent of a different, unfamiliar pheromone, filling the air.
Yu Wei took a deep breath, a raging fire rising in his heart, and walked to the bedroom door, slowly gripping the handle.
After hesitating for a long time, Yu Wei sighed, picked up the garlic from the balcony, and went out the door.
He admitted his cowardice, he admitted his timidity, preferring to deceive himself rather than push open the door to verify.
He felt a tightness in his chest, as if a stone had been stuffed into it, but he didn't know what to do. This was the first time in his life he had ever felt this sad.
Once outside, he didn't know where to go. After wandering around the family compound for a while, he first delivered the sage grass to the laboratory and gave it to Lin Ling's assistant. Then he found a bar and ordered a bunch of drinks.
When Qin Ge arrived after receiving the news, Yu Wei was already completely drunk, and there were empty bottles all over the table and around his feet.
"Yu Wei, are you crazy? Drinking so much!" Qin Ge stepped forward, patted Yu Wei's face, pried open his eyelids to look at him, and after confirming that he was not in any life-threatening danger, he carried him on his shoulder and said to the person in charge, "Put it on the tab." Then he led the others away.
They wanted to take Yu Wei home to the family compound, but Qin Ge didn't have an access pass, and the family compound had added a new rule prohibiting anyone from entering or leaving after midnight.
After much deliberation, Qin Ge decided to take him to a hotel for the night. He needed to make use of Chu Yunmu's VIP membership card; otherwise, it would be a waste.
Yu Wei doesn't drink often, but he has a good tolerance for alcohol and good manners when drunk; he remains quiet even when he's had too much to drink.
"Raise your hand."
Qin Ge took off Yu Wei's coat, folded it on the sofa, and wet a towel to wipe his face. There was nothing he could do; Uncle Yu had asked him to take care of him.
"Phew, finally done." Qin Ge got up, stretched, and patted Yu Wei's face: "Good boy, go to sleep, your dad's leaving now."
Forced to acknowledge his father, Yu Wei closed his eyes and remained motionless. Qin Ge left the room with peace of mind and returned to his hospital office to be on duty and communicate with Yu Zhen.
"How is Xiao Wei?"
Yu Zhen couldn't hide his worry. When he heard that Yu Wei had suddenly fainted, he wished he could appear by Yu Wei's side immediately. This was his own son. What if something happened to him?
However, Lin Ling went over first and told him that he didn't need to go, as Yu Wei was fine, so he didn't abandon his work and rush over. But he still felt uneasy and decided to try to find out more information from Qin Ge.
"He's fine, just sleep-deprived, Uncle Yu, don't worry." Qin Ge rubbed his temples, pretending to have a headache. "He dragged me out for drinks as soon as he woke up, saying he wanted to celebrate. I don't know what he wanted to celebrate."
"Tell him to drink less."
Yu Zhen breathed a sigh of relief, gave a few instructions, hung up the communication panel, tiptoed back to the room, crawled into the quilt, and hugged Lin Ling from behind.
Qin Ge sighed, looking at the medical record, his mood instantly becoming heavy.
Yu Wei wasn't suffering from sleep deprivation at all; he was infected with the Kao virus. Logically, this virus should have disappeared from the Etolan Empire's laboratory fifty years ago, but now it has reappeared and is being used on Yu Wei. It seems that the other party not only knows Yu Wei very well, but also knows the people around Yu Wei very well.
Qin Ge had only read about the Kao virus in a book. It works by influencing the central nervous system to control glands, causing Alpha to enter an extremely active state and release more information pheromones.
As is well known, the higher the Alpha level, the lower the glandular activity and the fewer the fertile periods. High-level Alphas with fully mature glands may not even have a fertile period and can control their pheromones at will.
In order to create more advanced Alphas, the rulers of the Etolan Empire frequently used this virus on Alphas that were already under their control. Fortunately, the rulers of the Etolan Empire eventually paid the price for their brutal rule, and those who were imprisoned were liberated.
Yu Wei, still half asleep, suddenly felt a heat rising throughout her body. She groggily got up and followed the route she remembered to the kitchen, but after groping around for a while, she couldn't find the familiar countertop.
The heat stimulated his brain, and his glands became abnormally active, releasing pheromones uncontrollably. Yu Wei staggered and fell to his knees, large beads of sweat sliding down his cheeks.
His heart was pounding, and his senses and sense of smell were heightened. Yu Wei coughed a few times, struggled to his feet, and then staggered and fell to the ground again.
"Beep... Lock unlocked..."
The sound of the electronic lock opening was exceptionally clear in the darkness. Yu Wei raised his hand and bit his arm, closing his eyes and trying to suppress it.
"Nobody's here, come in quickly."
The corridor lights shone on the doorway, and through the dim light, one could vaguely see a person blocking the door, while two other people were escorting another person in a furtive manner.
