In the unknown century of Guangyuan, the unnamed galaxy achieved unification. To address population issues, a marriage matching system was developed, forcibly pairing people through data calculatio...
"So you've set your sights on Yu Wei?"
Seeing the large green "Loading successful" message on the screen, Zhou Siyu breathed a sigh of relief, rubbed her shoulders, and slowly got up.
“According to the plan, he should be the most perfect being.” Lin Ling tilted her head and looked at the screen, giving Zhou Siyu a thumbs up. “He has many wonderful qualities that humans possess, but he also has many shortcomings. He is too naive and too innocent.”
"He can be a brave and skilled general, but he cannot be a qualified ruler."
“I thought you'd rather he be a puppet.” Zhou Siyu turned his head, smirked, and shrugged. “Looks like I was wrong.”
"I'm not interested in politics."
Lin Ling stretched and carefully checked the data system. Apart from the program that Zhou Siyu had just added, there were no viruses, which put her at ease.
He was indeed not interested in politics; he was only interested in biological research.
"To be honest, I'm very interested in your gene screening program." Zhou Siyu put her hands behind her head and leaned lazily against the control panel. "You're not just doing sex differentiation prediction for the benefit of citizens, are you?"
Lin Ling didn't speak, but merely glanced at Zhou Siyu indifferently, "Knowing too much will lead to a quick death."
"There's nothing I can do, I know now." Zhou Siyu crossed his arms and turned to look at Lin Ling. "The Alliance currently has too few Alphas, and after this war, there will probably be even fewer. Have you thought about how to deal with it?"
Seeing that Lin Ling remained silent, Zhou Siyu pouted and said, "If it were me, I definitely wouldn't rely on any matching system to solve this. It would be more effective to just bring the right Alpha and Omega together."
"Humans are not machines for procreation." Lin Ling finally looked up at Zhou Siyu and said calmly, "We screen for advanced genes in order to eliminate inferior genes and achieve gene optimization and overall progress."
"As for whether Alphas or Omegas are in the majority, I don't care."
While Alphas possess formidable combat abilities, Omegas are not entirely without them either. Furthermore, once humans achieve immortality of the soul, they will have no need to reproduce.
“Immortality is very difficult. We have evolved for tens of thousands of light-years, and we still haven’t achieved it, have we?” Zhou Siyu rested his chin on his hand and sighed slightly. “Immortality of the soul is easier to talk about.”
"How so?"
Lin Ling raised an eyebrow; he was curious to hear what Zhou Siyu had to say.
"If we save a person's brainwaves as data before they die, then use cloning technology to create an identical clone, and then activate the brainwaves and implant them into the clone, wouldn't that achieve immortality of the soul?"
In his view, the most important things for a person are the heart and the brain. If these two things can exist independently of the individual, it is no different from immortality.
"In a way, could Yu Wei be considered reborn?"
"You're very smart." Lin Ling patted Zhou Siyu approvingly. "Yu Wei is indeed a perfect experimental subject. He died once but can be reborn again. With this ability, he can do more than ordinary people."
When the conversation turned to things that interested him, Lin Ling couldn't help but elaborate a bit more.
“Actually, people nowadays shouldn’t be called human; I prefer to define them as advanced intelligent beings.” Lin Ling pulled up some data and placed it in front of Zhou Siyu. “According to known data, the genetic structure of prehistoric humans was far simpler than it is now; they only had two sexes—”
"Modern intelligent beings are completely different from a genetic standpoint, having incorporated genes from both animals and plants. Are humans still considered human?"
"Why bother with these things?" Zhou Siyu finished reading the data and handed the computer back to Lin Ling. "Humans are animals, animals are animals, and plants are plants. Although they are different in appearance and intelligence, aren't they all pursuing genetic optimization and species evolution?"
"Only those genes that are good enough and strong enough can survive the cruel natural selection."
Zhou Siyu turned his head to look at Lin Ling, then looked over his shoulder and gazed at him in the distance with indifference: "The law of the jungle, survival of the fittest, that's all there is to it."
“I thought you were a sentimental person, but I didn’t expect you to be so cold and resolute.”
Lin Ling shrugged. Yu Wei's genes really were something else; he'd picked a great ally for him.
“I thought you knew me well enough, Uncle Lin.” Zhou Siyu raised an eyebrow, rubbed his neck, and shrugged. “In this world, apart from Yu Wei, there are probably no good people.”
"The world of the strong has no need for good people."
Lin Ling waved to shut down the system, tugged at his collar, and put his hands in his pockets. "Let's go."
Zhou Siyu nodded and followed behind Lin Ling. He knew too many of Lin Ling's secrets. If he wanted to survive, he had to cooperate with him. Otherwise, with Lin Ling's methods, there were a million ways to make him die a reasonable death.
Given Lin Ling's personality, he would never let go of a child who was not yet formed. Therefore, whether for his own sake or for the sake of the child, he had to get on Lin Ling's ship.
Fortunately, he was also interested in genetic research, so it wasn't too difficult for him.
Perhaps he was just using the guise of protection to satisfy his own dark side.
Humans are so hypocritical.
To clothe something foul in a glamorous guise and then treat it as a precious treasure is utterly hypocritical.
But ironically, he was such a hypocrite.
Zhou Siyu sat in a chair, hands in his pockets, neck tucked into his high collar, reading documents.
"The application has been approved. Yu Wei has just settled in Liaocheng on the twelfth planet." Lin Ling mixed a bottle of nutrient solution and purified water and handed it to Zhou Siyu. "It's a beautiful place. You should be interested."
"I hope so."
Zhou Siyu pinched the bridge of her nose, took the nutrient solution, and drank it all in one gulp.
