Me: Master of Survival!

In my previous life, I was the特种兵王 (Special Forces King) of a chaotic era, but in this life, I am just an ordinary security guard in a peaceful world.

I thought I could finally enjoy this pea...

Chapter 35 Time flies!

At first, seeing the desolate ocean, he thought he would get nothing, but he never expected that so many eagle claw shrimp were hidden in the seabed mud.

This can be seen as finding a hidden gem on the seabed. It's likely no one noticed that such a treasure was hidden in this dirty water.

Wild mantis shrimp are quite expensive. Their meat is more tender and flavorful than that of prawns, and after being dried, it becomes a top-quality ingredient for shrimp dishes, known as "Dragon's Whisker Golden Hook."

Dead shrimp are used for cooking; live mantis shrimp taste better and are more expensive. In the wholesale market, they cost 60-70 yuan per jin (500g), much more expensive than green shrimp or king prawns.

Eagle claw shrimp prefer to hide in the mud and sand of shallow seas, especially humus-rich mud. This area contains a lot of garbage, which creates humus-rich mud, making it a paradise for them.

Lu Wuyai hauled in several nets of mantis shrimp. He lifted the shrimp and put them into boxes and buckets in the cabin, then called Little Earl (the dog) over.

The little count (dog) sat beside him, wagging his tail frantically, unsure of what to do.

Lu Wuyai wiped the water off his face and said, "Don't you want to go into the water today? Come on, give me your claws. Remember, stir it up again after you come in, understand?"

He picked up one of the little count's (dog's) front paws and put it in the bucket to stir the water.

Eagle claw shrimp are easy to die when they are quiet and need stimulation to move, so Lu Wuyai asked the little count (dog) to do this job.

The little count (dog) absorbed the moisture from the golden pill every day and became much smarter. After Lu Wuyai taught it a few times, it seemed to understand, and after a while it would shake its paws in the bucket.

It stuck its paw in and shook it, so Gu Yuxin gave it a piece of chicken sausage. After doing this a few times, the training results came out: Little Earl (the dog) stuck its paw in and shook it continuously, and the shrimp died.

Lu Wuyai had no choice but to extend his claws and say, "Forget it, forget it, I can't count on you."

You said forget it. What do you think of me? Am I that casual? The little count (dog) grinned, dipping his paw into the bucket and shaking it whenever he had a chance. He glanced at the chicken sausage in Lu Wuyai's hand while trembling.

"Wow." Lu Wuyai didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so he helplessly drove the car up: "Let's go, let's go into the water."

Jin Dan's steam could keep the shrimp alive, but he didn't know if the shrimp would devour each other like lobsters, so he didn't use this technique in the first place.

He had no choice but to inject the shrimp with steam to keep them alive—live hawk prawns and dead shrimp are worth a completely different price.

After circling the seabed, Lu Wuyai harvested a large number of mantis shrimp, filling the buckets and styrofoam boxes on the boat to the brim.

He wasn't fishing at the bottom of the river, nor did he need to worry about not being able to catch all the mantis shrimp in this area. Female mantis shrimp have a remarkable ability: they can lay eggs multiple times.

In the water conservancy industry, the rising water levels of rivers, lakes, and seas are referred to as the "flood season." Fishermen refer to the season when it is suitable to catch certain types of fish and shrimp as the "flood season," such as yellow croaker and mackerel.

Most fish and shrimp have only one spawning season per year, while mantis shrimp have spring, summer, and autumn spawning seasons. Their spawning season can be divided into multiple periods and can last for a long time. At the same time, their spawning grounds are widely distributed, which helps maintain their population size.

He used an iron rake to drag it to the edge of the muddy bottom and found a pile of garbage.

Because of ocean currents, waves on the surface, and undulations in the seabed, slow-moving eddies can form in certain sea areas. The slow flow of these eddies does not pose a threat to people or ships.

However, no matter how slow the eddy, it still has suction. It cannot absorb heavy people and ships, but it can absorb marine debris such as bottles, plastic bags, and foam boards.

These slow-flowing eddies often control waters with large amounts of garbage, which are academically referred to as marine debris patches.

Lu Wuyai has encountered such a garbage patch, but it's only a small one, covering just a few dozen acres. It's said that there are super garbage patches in the Pacific and Indian Oceans, larger than North America.

Beneath the small pile of trash lay a reef, making it impossible for the eagle claw shrimp to hide. It glanced at the marine debris with disgust, wishing it could swim away.

Just as he was splashing water, the water at the edge of the garbage heap was stirred, and suddenly two sea snake-like things scurried out of a jar.

At first he thought he had encountered a snake, so he quickly left the water.

Sea snakes are very ferocious. All sea snakes are highly venomous, but they have a good temperament. They will not attack large creatures like humans unless provoked.

While swimming, he looked back and realized something was wrong. These weren't sea snakes. Two fish had escaped. They were very long, like sea snakes, but their shape was cylindrical, unlike the distinct paddle-like structure of sea snakes. (Snake tail)

Both fish were about one meter long, with pointed heads and beaks. Their surfaces were dark brown, with milky-white bellies. The edges of their backs, rumps, and tail fins were black, unlike the bright colors of sea snakes.

Upon closer inspection, he recognized them. They were two moray eels.

The memory of them being confined to jars further confirms their identity. Moray eels prefer to inhabit sandy or rocky reef areas and like to hide in enclosed spaces such as bottles, jars, or crevices in the seabed.

What a pleasant surprise! Conger eels are also a prized seafood. They are particularly popular with the Japanese, people from certain islands of Korea, and Europeans. Fresh conger eels are more expensive than mantis shrimp in the market.

There were many plastic bottles and glass jars in the garbage dump, and he estimated that there were quite a few eels hidden inside, which would be a considerable haul.

But the garbage area was too dirty; it was disgusting to swim directly in.

This is where the wetsuit came in handy. He bought a designer brand wetsuit. The suit had a layer of composite fiber on the surface, a combination of aramid and carbon fiber.

So he put on a diving suit, took a net bag, and went into the landfill.

The contents of the garbage dump weren't dirty. After all, it was a slow-moving whirlpool, with seawater constantly swirling and washing over the surface of the trash countless times.

But it was a garbage dump after all, and even though Lu Wuyai was wearing a diving suit, he still felt disgusted swimming in it.

Fortunately, his harvest was not bad.

I picked up a large plastic bottle of Wahaha peanut milk; inside was an eel. The eel was probably small when it went in, but it was already seventy or eighty centimeters long and couldn't get out.

Gu Yuxin used a knife to cut the plastic bottle into pieces and poured out the eel. He jumped into the water and saw eels in two glass bottles.

He weaved through the garbage heaps and soon caught twenty or thirty eels, some big and some small, weighing a total of more than fifty kilograms.

A fishing boat sailed by, and the people on board, seeing him soaking in the garbage, shouted, "Hey, buddy, what are you doing? Do you even know how to handle garbage?"

Lu Wuyai responded loudly, "Yes, deal with the garbage, there's too much garbage here."

Laughter and cheerful conversation filled the fishing boat. Someone asked, "Where are these environmental protection volunteers from? My toilet is also full of trash, please help clean it up."

The other party showed no goodwill, so Lu Wuyai didn't say much.

The fishing boat sailed away, and then another fishing boat came along: "Brother, what's wrong? What are you doing here?"

Lu Wuyai said, "Clean up the trash."

"I'm really bored." The person who went up immediately left.

Lu Wuyai shook his head. This sea area is the livelihood of fishermen in the surrounding area. Fishing is like farming; you have to put in the effort before you can reap the rewards. But nowadays, the fishermen only want to fish from this sea area and don't care what damage the ocean suffers.

If you don't change your original intention, you will always be able to succeed. People crave success and money; who doesn't change their original intention?

He rummaged through the garbage bag again and again, and harvested more than 200 kilograms of conger eels, which was quite an amazing haul.

After a search, Lu Wuyai boarded the ship and left.

Since the fishing net was useless today, he used it to collect a large pile of garbage and dragged it behind him to the town's landfill for disposal. At the same time, he brought Gu Yuxin and the two other people back with him.

On the way, he called Old Sun and told him about his catch. Old Sun agreed and immediately arranged for his son to take money to buy shrimp and fish.

Dealing with garbage is no easy task. After Lu Wuyai finished and returned to the village island trade port, Sun Yijin also took a boat ride over.

Looking at the vibrant mantis shrimp, Sun Yijin was quite surprised: "There are so many live shrimp. Where can you get them?"

Lu Wuyai said, "Where else can I go in the sea?"

He was quite surprised. After absorbing the moisture from the golden core, the eagle claw shrimp didn't seem to prey on and devour each other like the giant lobsters. Perhaps their attack capabilities were weak. Although they preyed on each other, they failed to devour one another.

In short, just as he expected, after absorbing the moisture from the Golden Elixir, the eagle claw shrimp's vitality greatly increased, and not many died within a day. Normally, eagle claw shrimp placed in a bucket would die almost within a day.

Because of their high activity level, mantis shrimp are more expensive than those sold in the market. Lu Wuyai charges 80 yuan per jin (500g), and conger eel 85 yuan per jin. In this way, 40 jin of mantis shrimp sold for 3200 yuan, and 350 jin of conger eel sold for 29,700 yuan.

Sun Yijin didn't haggle. He was an expert; he could see the value of these prawns and also the value of Lu Wuyai.

Not only did he not haggle, he also offered to add some money, and proudly waved his hand, saying, "I'll give you the whole head, thirty-three thousand."

Lu Wuyai rolled his eyes: "I thought you gave me 35,000, and 33,000 is nothing."

Sun Yijin sneered, "You made tens of thousands of yuan by going into business, which is much bigger than what my family can do. I should be taking advantage of you, so why do you have the nerve to take advantage of me?"

Lu Wuyai said, "You're just taking advantage of me. Your family can eat eels like this. Why don't you go back and sell them to your neighbors at a higher price?"

Sun Yijin said, "Yes, you are my brother. I'll give you another five hundred yuan. By the way, didn't you have some eels in your bucket? Why don't you sell them?"

Gu Yuxin shook her head. These cannot be sold. These are female eels carrying eggs. June and July are the spawning season for moray eels. A single female eel can carry one to two million eggs. If protected well, a batch of female eels can revive an entire group.

After the female eels are brought back, he plans to release them into a reef area and inject them with some golden eel steam to see if they can create a new population of moray eels.

He also raised two of the thickest and plumpest eels, intending to make eel rice himself.

That evening, Lu Wuyai received a phone call and happily ran downstairs. Hou Banshuang didn't come over that night. Lu Wuyai called his house. Hou Banshuang answered the phone and said he would be studying at home that night and wouldn't be going out.

And so, both he and Lu Wuyai were left behind. He only killed one eel; the rest he kept for later use, to be eaten or killed whenever needed.

Seeing him take out the eel, Lu Wuyai's eyes widened: "Eel, no, it's a sea snake. No, it's a conger eel. So this is what a conger eel is like."

Seeing the thick and thin eel spinning around in his hand, Lu Wuyai chuckled and said, "Yes, that's it. It's scary, but not scary at all."

“No grubs are scary, but a grub on the back of your neck can make someone scream,” Lu Zhizi said dismissively, then her curiosity returned: “Hey, how did you catch the moray eel? There are moray eels in the sea near you.”

Lu Wuyai said, "I bought a diving suit for diving and fishing."

Lu Wuyai suddenly became interested: "I have nothing to do, how about you take me diving at sea? Diving in this hot weather must be a lot of fun."

Lu Wuyai shook his head and said, "The water quality here is not good. Beginners should find a body of water with high transparency."

Lu Wuyai puffed out his chest proudly and said, "Hey, don't underestimate me. I learned to scuba dive when I was in Miami, and my skills are amazing."

Lu Wuyai glanced at her ample chest and said, "Okay, if you want to go, do you have a swimsuit?"

"You little rascal."

Lu Wuyai looked utterly desperate: "Please, if you want to go diving, you have to wear a swimsuit. I asked you if you had a swimsuit and you called me a pervert."

"I called you a hooligan because you know nothing. Where are your eyes looking?" Lu Wuyai pulled his chest back. "But you're quite capable; you glanced at me, and that knife even took down an eel."

Gu Yuxin kept talking, her hands constantly reaching out, quickly butchering the eel and draining its blood.

Eel blood has medicinal value. It is believed to have the effects of tonifying deficiency, dispelling wind, and unblocking meridians. It is often used for those who are weak after illness or childbirth, and can also treat anemia and neurasthenia.

However, like eel blood, it is somewhat toxic and needs to be treated.

Gu Yuxin first processed the eel blood, then handed it to Lu Wuyai and said, "Wipe this bowl of scalding blood dry."

Lu Zhizi asked suspiciously, "Why?"

Lu Wuyai said, "For you women, this is a tonic. Don't worry, I can't lie to you."

Lu Zhizi frowned: "Wow, it looks disgusting, *gulp*, but it's still delicious, sweet, you added honey."

"Your little mouth is very sensitive." Lu Wuyai laughed as he lit a fire; next up was grilling the eel.

There are two types of eel rice: one is freshly grilled eel, and the other is kabaya-style grilled eel. The fresher the eel, the better it is for the former cooking method. This is the freshest eel that Lu Wuyai has.

When grilling eel, the most important thing is to control the heat. You must know that when grilling, the eel skin is directly exposed to the flames, and your mouth is the first thing it touches when you eat it, which greatly affects the taste.

If the eel is overcooked during baking, it will burn and lose its smooth, oily texture. If it is undercooked, it will become burnt, which will increase the fishy smell of the eel.

Lu Wuyai learned this technique from a chef in Dongying. His hands were steady and sensitive. Whenever the fish started to ooze oil, he would immediately lift it off the heat, grilling it until the skin was slightly charred and glistening.

During this process, sauces and oils had to be used. Gu Yuxin stared intently at the eels and sauces, completely forgetting herself.

Lu Wuyai felt bored, so she looked at her phone for a while. Then, smelling the fragrance, she lost interest in looking at it and turned to look at Lu Wuyai.

After watching it, she stopped looking at her phone.

In fact, cooking is not boring at all; men who can cook are even more interesting.

As the oil and sauce seep into the fish, and as the fish fat cooks and drips onto the charcoal, it makes a soft crackling sound: "La la, la la la."

"Alright, the delicious eel feast can begin." Lu Wuyai smiled and looked up.

He looked up and saw Lu Zhizi staring straight at him, making him feel embarrassed for a moment: "What are you looking at?"

Lu Wuyai withdrew his gaze and said softly, "Your cooking looks really good."

"Are you saying I'm good-looking, or that my cooking is good?" Lu Wuyai was a little shy, so he just made a few jokes.

Lu Wuyai smiled without saying a word, picked up her special little bowl and started eating.

When the little count (dog) saw that it was time to eat, he immediately climbed up from under the tree, picked up his big bowl, and followed.

Lu Wuyai grabbed two handfuls of dog food for it, but the two dogs slapped the rim of the bowl, knocking it over. Then they picked up the bowl and went to find Lü Zhizi, pulling on Lü Zhizi's arm with their paws and staring straight at it. (Using a rice cooker.)

"You bastard, you deserve to be beaten." Lu Wuyai was furious. This dog is like a child; it can't be spoiled. When he first came back, Little Earl (the dog) would fight over every piece of poop, but now it has started to be picky about food.

Lu Wuyai chuckled. She served the little count (dog) a plate of rice and added some eagle claw shrimp meat to it. The little count (dog) was overjoyed, its tail twirling so fast it almost flew away.

Then she put the little count's (dog's) food bowl on the stove and took her own bowl to eat.

The little count (dog) was stunned, burst into tears a few times, and finally had to sullenly leave the dog food scattered all over the floor.

Now it was Lu Wuyai's turn to laugh.

The rice is fragrant rice from a certain region on a Thai island. It is crystal clear, soft in texture, with distinct grains. The steam and aroma rise together, and the color of the rice grains is the same as that of the porcelain bowl.

A thick layer of rice is topped with an equally thick piece of eel, the orange-red sauce slowly seeping into the rice grains. Each bite of rice is a bite of eel, a truly delightful experience.

Fragrant rice and tender eel are a perfect match.

After eating and drinking to their hearts' content, Lü's son took the little count's (dog's) food bowl. The little count (dog) rushed forward like a hungry tiger pouncing on its prey, plunging headfirst into the bowl, its face covered in rice grains.

"I want to go diving with you tomorrow, and I also want to catch eels to eat," Lu Zhizi said enthusiastically.

Lu Wuyai said, "Alright, come over in the morning, and we'll go out to sea together."

Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate, and the next day was also bad. The sky was overcast from midnight, and it started to drizzle in the morning.

Since they couldn't go diving, Lu Wuyai sent Li Mupeng and a young man to continue pulling the flag, and then they went out to sea and spent a day in the sea.

He hung his fishing rod on the boat, not seeking a catch, but only the feeling of the moment.

The light rain pattered down on the sea, creating small waves. Gu Yuxin lay in the gently rippling ocean. For a moment, the world seemed empty, with only the waves flying around.

It had been cloudy for two or three days in a row, with occasional light rain, so it was not very convenient to go diving in the sea. But Lu's son was getting anxious.

Su Xi hadn't come to eat for the past few days, so Lu Wuyai made extra food and sent it to him.

He keenly noticed that both Song Qiumin and Hou Banshuang looked worried, so he immediately asked, "What's wrong?"

Just as Li Xiaoniu was about to speak, Song Qiumin interrupted, "It's nothing, it's just that Xiaoniu didn't study hard. By the way, Yangzi, your peanut field is full of stray dogs. It's been drizzling these past two days, so we can't go out to sea, and it's not hot, so you don't need to deal with it."

The damage caused to peanuts by grubs, also known as ground beetles, is self-evident. If there are two or three grubs per square meter in a peanut field, the yield will decrease by 2%.

This problem gave Lu Wuyai a major headache. He said helplessly, "How should we deal with this? They're all hiding underground, so they can't be sprayed with pesticides. By this time, the peanut seedlings have already sprouted."

The ditches were indeed a major problem for agricultural planting. Liu Xiaole frowned and said, "If you don't plant peanuts, it'll be much easier. You can do crop rotation, turning the peanut fields into paddy fields, and they'll drown you in one season." It was them.

This is a common method for dealing with ground-dwelling dogs. Peanuts are rotated with aquatic organisms such as rice and lotus, and the paddy fields are used to drown the dogs. In this way, peanut yield can be increased by 60-70 kilograms per acre.

Lu Wuyai asked, "Can I rinse them? I'm watering the peanuts."

Liu Xiaole laughed, shook his head, and said, "Winter is possible, but if you pour water twice and freeze them to death, you can't expect to submerge them. Or you can go to the city and buy a black light or a high-pressure mercury lamp. This will trap the beetles and prevent them from laying eggs."

Lu Wuyai discussed it with her for a while, learned a few methods, and then decided to try them out in the farmland.

Black lights are easy to buy and inexpensive. He bought some and placed them in his farmland.

So I went to check it out the next day. The farmland was deserted, there were no beetles, but there was also no black light.

The black light was stolen.

"The lowest point," Lu Wuyai couldn't help but curse, "Everything in my village was stolen. Is there any reason for this? Is there anything you still cherish?"

Li Qianying, who had previously contracted the peanut field, laughed loudly, "Haha, Yangzi, you're the same! Why don't you stay and watch over the lanterns you hung in the field?"

Lu Wuyai said helplessly, "Who knew there were petty thefts in the village?"

Li Qianying leaned against the hoe and said, "Our village is big, with more than a thousand people, and there aren't many scumbags in it. Do you think we're in heaven?"

After joking around for a while, he said, "Okay, don't buy a black light or anything like that. You just want to trap and kill a blind beetle. There's no need for those high-tech gadgets. Uncle, I'll make you some soup; it'll help."

Blind beetles are the common name for scarab beetles. There are many species of scarab beetles, but their larvae are all called grubs, which are very harmful to peanuts.

Lu Wuyai followed Li Qianying home. In Li Qianying's fishpond, bundles of poplar branches were soaking in sour soup.

Li Qianying said, "These soaked larvae will attract blind beetles, and you just need to come here every morning to clean them up."

Lu Wuyai asked curiously, "What's the principle behind this?"

Li Qianying said, "Who knows the principle behind it? Anyway, if you soak the branches of poplar and elm trees in kimchi soup for two days, you can attract mirid bugs."

"Or if you're willing to spend the money, you can buy some ammonia water and sprinkle 20% ammonia water into the furrows. This will kill mirid bugs and ground beetles and also increase the fertility of the soil."

Lu Wuyai took Paotang Yang away and dispersed them to the farmland.

Lu Zhizi came to find him for a meal and discovered the fields. Lu Wuyai said, "You have a very good nose. You can smell my scent even in the wild."

“I have an ordinary nose, but I have a good mind. If you’re not home, and your ship is docked at the island’s trading port, where else can you go besides farmland?” Lu Zhizi laughed.

The little count (dog) rushed over, sniffed the soaking wet poplar branch with his nose, and then stuck out his tongue to lick the sauerkraut soup on it.

Li Muyang kicked it: "Don't lick my face if you lick this thing again."

Lu Wuyai looked curiously at the poplar branches in the field and asked, "What are you doing?"

Lu Wuyai told her what had happened, and then suddenly realized, "Oh, you have to deal with grubs and their adults. Don't ask me, I understand."

"You know what I mean."

Lu Wuyai nodded and said, "There are three ways to deal with grubs and scarab beetles. The first is agricultural measures, the second is biological control, and the third is pesticide treatment."

"In terms of agricultural measures, we can adopt crop rotation, winter plowing, winter irrigation, light trapping, artificial trapping, plastic film cultivation, and plant trapping."

"Regarding pesticide control, this is not advisable because it requires pre-planting control, you know. It's about using pesticides before planting peanuts."

"Therefore, I suggest you use biological control methods, such as using sex hormones to trap predators, protecting natural enemies, using microbial prevention, and preventing predation by chickens and ducks, etc..."

Hearing her familiar introduction, Lu Wuyai was stunned: "You, how do you know these things?"

Lu Wuyai took out his phone and said, "Just search it on Baidu, and you'll find out."

"But you didn't use Baidu on your phone just now."

"I used to use Baidu."

"Then you deliberately carried it on your back. Why did you carry it?"

"Who wrote it? I memorized it after only reading it once."

Seeing Lu Wuyai's bewildered expression and hearing her relaxed words, for some reason, Lu Wuyai felt an urge to kneel down...

Lu Wuyai not only simply wrote down the content from Baidu, but also did research. She gave Lu Wuyai several ideas in one go, and killed the dog in three habitats.

After several days of continuous rain, the bright sun finally came out.

That night, Lu Zhizi saw the stars in the night sky and guessed that good weather was coming, so she made an appointment with Lu Wuyai to go diving and fishing.

Coincidentally, Lu Wuyai had cleaned up a bunch of dogs in the past two days. He coated them with sesame oil and chicken blood, which made excellent bait for fishing.

Although the weather was clear, the wind was strong. After all, Lu Wuyai hadn't grown up by the sea. For safety's sake, he didn't go diving directly into the sea, but instead chose to go to Dragon Saliva Lake.

This disappointed the female teacher: "Hey, what's the point of diving in the lake?"

Lu Wuyai said with a smile, "The water in Longyan Lake is very clear, at least it has never been polluted. There is a layer of sand at the bottom of the lake, but it is no worse than the sea."

Lu Zhizi had been to Longxian Lake twice. After thinking about it, she felt it made a lot of sense, so she became happy again: "Diving, diving, diving, fishing, fishing, fishing, fishing..."

Lu Wuyai could no longer hold back: "You Hengyuanxiang."

"What's wrong?" Lu Zhizi asked, completely bewildered.

"Mouse, mouse, mouse, Heng Yuan Xiang; ox, ox, ox, Heng Yuan Xiang; tiger, tiger, tiger, Heng Yuan Xiang... pig, pig, pig, Heng Yuan Xiang..." Lu Wuyai repeated this famously foolish advertisement.

Lu Wuyai immediately retorted, "You're just a broken record."

Lu Wuyai sighed. He used to be invincible in the kitchens of the capital with his quick wit, and some colleagues even wanted to introduce him to the famous crosstalk performer Guo Gang to learn crosstalk.

But when it came to verbal sparring, he was no match for Lu Wuyai. The other woman's reactions and thoughts astonished him: women are natural masters of verbal manipulation.

He had previously decided to take Lu Wuyai diving, so he made preparations in advance and borrowed a boat suitable for fishing and diving, which came in handy today.

Upon reaching the stone pier by the lake, they climbed onto a large wooden boat. Lu Zhizi was astonished: "Wow, this is the legendary sand boat!"

Indeed, Lu Wuyai chose a sand barge and strolled around Dragon Saliva Lake.

Sand ships are a source of pride for the ancient shipbuilding industry in a certain area of our island. They are known as the four major types of ancient sailing wooden ships, along with Fujian ships, Guangzhou ships, and bird ships.

The solemn sand barge was a large sailing ship. Before the Tang Dynasty, it was the mainstay of water transport in the north. Later, it became even more active on ocean routes, traveling between ancient islands and regions and Southeast Asia, Arabia, and Africa, and even reaching Europe.

Lu Wuyai once saw a real large sand ship, made entirely of hardwood, more than thirty meters long from bow to stern. Its warehouse was very deep and large, with two or three floors of ladders alone.

This is not the largest sand barge. The largest sand barges were very popular in the Ming Dynasty. They were the main fleet for the seven voyages of the great navigator Zheng He to the Western Ocean. Each ship had hundreds of stewards.

"It truly feels like sails soaring upwards, stars racing day and night, traversing turbulent waves, as if walking on a broad thoroughfare," Lu Wuyai commented.

The boat he borrowed was much smaller, less than ten meters long from front to back, with only one sail in the middle, and it was old and full of patches.

Hearing Lu Wuyai's exclamation, Lu Wuyai nodded and said, "That's right, it's this sand barge. It's the only sand barge in our village now. I thought you hadn't seen it before, so let me show you something new."

He also put in a lot of effort to make Lu Wuyai enjoy diving.

Lu Wuyai said, "I've only seen models of them, at the Shanghai Museum, and I've heard that there used to be many of these boats on the Huangpu River."

She paused for a moment, then continued, "Yes, it really was like weaving sails and masts, with ships covering the river, loading and unloading, day and night."

After she finished speaking, she couldn't help but laugh: "I was right."

Lu Wuyai said with a smile, "Jingzheng, I didn't give you any matches. Come on, ma'am, please get on the boat."

“Then I misunderstood you.” Lu Zhizi, supporting his arm, carefully boarded the ship. “My God, I really feel like I’ve stepped into history, as if I’ve returned to a certain era on a remote island.”

"During the period when the island was in a certain region, such sand barges were not common on the Huangpu River; small motorboats were used instead." Lu Wuyai finally seized the opportunity to show off.

Lu Wuyai smiled and said, "Alright, why did you think of finding a beach boat?"

Lu Wuyai said, "The sand boat has a flat bottom and a square bow, so it's very stable on the lake. Last time you almost fell into the water in a small sampan, so I think the sand boat is better. Come on, sit tight, let's set sail."

He took off his clothes, revealing his muscular upper body, grabbed the thick nylon ropes with both hands, and pulled up the huge sail. As the strong wind howled, the sail immediately billowed, and then slowly began to move.

Lu Zhizi, holding onto the mast, said, "When the wind rises and the waves break, hoist the sails straight to the sea. Knight, follow me."

The little count (the dog) rushed to the bow, braced himself against the gunwale, stuck his head out, mouth agape, tongue lolling out. As it turned out, they sailed with the wind, and no strong wind blew his tongue away.

Just as Lu Wuyai had guessed, he was very interested in the sand barges that were rare these days. He had seen too many of them and had lost interest in them over time.

The indigenous residents didn't seem to care much about the sand barge. The barge had been idle for a while and hadn't been used much; after he finished sailing it, he would walk back and forth to inspect it.

The main component of the sand barge was the mast in the middle cabin, which was traditionally made of cypress or camphor wood wrapped with iron hoops. Later, as red pine was introduced to a certain area of a certain island, the mast was replaced by this type of red pine.

He first carefully inspected the mast. The mast was over ten meters tall and very sturdy. If something went wrong and it broke halfway down, it could crush someone and kill them.

There was a piece of paper pasted on the mast. Lu Wuyai turned around and glared at it, but didn't recognize it: "What does it say here? What font is used?"

Lu Wuyai said without looking up, "The Little Earl (dog) is majestic, and the owner of the sand boat is called the Little Earl (dog). As for the font... This is what is called exorcism."

"Oh, I see. Curved italics." Lu Wuyai was taken aback. "There are still fonts like this now. But the characters are really, really crooked."

Lu Wuyai laughed loudly, "It's 'Bixie,' 'Bixie.' This is the script that Taoist priests use to draw protective talismans."

Only then did Lu Wuyai realize that she had been bullied. She smiled slyly, about to retort, but pursed her lips and remained silent, running to the bow of the boat to take pictures.

There are no factories around Longyanxiang Lake. At most, people wash clothes and do laundry by the lake, so the water is still as clear as it was many years ago. Children and young people from nearby villages like to swim here.

As the wind blew, the sand barge drifted slowly. Lu Wuyai was overjoyed and sat at the bow, singing: "Let us row our oars, the light boat pushes through the waves, the beautiful white pagoda is reflected on the sea, surrounded by green trees and red walls..."

The singing was melodious, with a slightly soft and sweet tone. Gu Yuxin sat leaning against the mast, listening and humming along.

When Lu Wuyai finished singing the song, he sighed, "Time flies."

Lu Wuyai asked, "What's wrong? Why do you suddenly feel nostalgic for the past?"

Lu Wuyai finished setting up the submersible and said, "We learned this text in elementary school. We learned it on this boat. The teacher took us boating on the lake and taught us as we rowed."

Lu Wuyai exclaimed, "Wow, your teacher is so romantic!"

Lu Wuyai smiled. When he was a child, the school environment was very poor and the teachers' teaching level was limited, but the teachers really dedicated everything to the students and tried their best to create the best environment for them.

Therefore, even now, he still respects his teacher the most.

Recalling the time he was packing up his diving gear when he was a child, he casually said, "Come on, take off your skirt, take it off and turn around for me..."

Lu Wuyai suddenly raised his eyebrows: "You scoundrel."

Even so, Lu Wuyai still managed to do it.

She changed into her swimsuit beforehand, took off her long skirt, raised her arms to put up her long, black hair, and then put on her swim cap.

Lu Wuyai tried his best to explain: "You misunderstood me. I meant, how could you wear a wetsuit if you weren't taking off your skirt? Also, you should walk around and check if you have any wounds. Swimsuits or wetsuits are not breathable, and wounds can easily worsen any illness..."

After explaining, he didn't even know what he was saying; his attention was entirely focused on Lu Wuyai.

At that moment, the female teacher's graceful figure was fully displayed before him.

From the first time we met in the park in Hongyang, he knew that Lu Zhizi had a good figure, but Lu Zhizi usually took great care to protect himself and wore loose clothing, so he couldn't see clearly.

At this point, all she was left with was her swimsuit, which unfortunately was a one-piece swimsuit, much to Comrade Lu Wuyai's deep regret...

Only Little Earl (the dog) is a gentleman. Lu Wuyai took off his pants and threw them on its head. It angrily threw them back, glared at Lu Wuyai, then walked to the bow of the boat and frantically wagged its tongue at the lake breeze.

Lu Wuyai chuckled and deliberately hugged the little count (dog): "The little count (dog)'s hair is really beautiful, soft and warm, very comfortable."

The little count (dog) pushed her away in disgust. It was already very hot, and being held like that was unbearable for a dog, which is most afraid of the heat.

Lu Wuyai slowly walked over and said, "How about I skin the little count (dog) and wear it one day, so you can hug me as much as you want? What kind of expression do you have? I'm talking about a friendly hug."

Lu Wuyai smiled contemptuously: "I'd rather believe that the little count (dog) can catch ghosts than believe your man's words."

??

Lu Wuyai said, "That's not contradictory. If he can really catch ghosts, why wouldn't I have him keep you company every night?"

A few jokes were enough. He got the hang of it and handed the diving suit to Lu Wuyai, saying, "Here, put this on, and add a life jacket over it. The mask and fins are here. Let me adjust your breathing apparatus..."
