Shen Qiaoyue looked up and met Lu Chen's gaze. She tried her best to force a smile, but she still couldn't manage to smile at all.

"Wife, I'll be away for a long time this time, so please take good care of yourself." Lu Chen hugged Shen Qiaoyue and gave her some words of advice with concern. "Wife, don't be stingy with money. Taking care of yourself is the most important thing. If you can't adjust to work or feel unwell, then don't go to work for now. We have enough money at home."

Lu Chen was worried that after he left, Shen Qiaoyue would have a hard time without anyone to take care of her.

Lu He usually goes to the city to study with Aunt Wen and comes back about once a week, which makes Lu Chen really worried.

"Brother Shen, don't worry about me!" Shen Qiaoyue said in a deliberately relaxed tone, "I'm definitely willing to spend money. I'll take good care of myself and the child even without you by my side. If you keep talking, I'll start to miss you."

Lu Chen remained silent for a long time. The room was so quiet that only the sound of breathing could be heard.

"Qiaoyue, remember to think of me!" Lu Chen released Shen Qiaoyue's embrace and lowered his head to kiss Shen Qiaoyue's forehead.

Shen Qiaoyue closed her eyes slightly, and after kissing her forehead, Lu Chen kissed Shen Qiaoyue's lips.

He put his arm around Shen Qiaoyue's waist, turned around and sat on the bed, letting her sit on his lap, his breathing becoming rapid.

In the end, he restrained his desires, ended the kiss, and hugged Shen Qiaoyue tightly once again.

Shen Qiaoyue remained silent. Lu Chen's departure this time gave her the feeling that he was going to do something very dangerous.

In Lu Chen's arms, Shen Qiaoyue could hear the sound of his heartbeat against his chest.

"Brother Shen, I'll wait for you to come back." Shen Qiaoyue's tears were about to fall, but she forced them back.

"Okay!" Lu Chen released Shen Qiaoyue.

Shen Qiaoyue stood up from Lu Chen and watched as Lu Chen picked up his luggage to leave.

Her eyes were full of reluctance. She bit her lip and then released it. She moved her lips, but still didn't say a word.

Lu Chen walked to the door, his back to Shen Qiaoyue.

They both had so much to say to each other, but neither could bring themselves to say it.

Lu Chen didn't say anything in the end. He walked into the living room. Lu He knew that her brother was leaving. She looked at Lu Chen with reluctance in her eyes, but didn't say anything.

"Lu He, take good care of your sister-in-law for your brother, and wait for me to come back! Also, remember to practice self-defense with Jia He so you can protect yourself." Lu Chen instructed on the things he hadn't finished in his daily routine, and then looked at Lu He and added, "Lu He, don't put too much pressure on yourself. Discuss things with your sister-in-law more often, and ask more questions and learn more about your studies if you don't understand something."

"Mmm!" Lu He wasn't worried at first, but when she heard her brother's words of advice, tears welled up in her eyes and she nodded frantically.

Lu Chen gently patted Lu He's shoulder and said, "Don't cry. It's not like your brother isn't coming back. He's just going to be gone for a while this time. It'll be over soon."

"Brother, I understand. I'll take good care of things at home. I won't neglect my studies or work, and I'll spend more time with my sister-in-law," Lu He said to Lu Chen, wiping away her tears.

"Then I'm leaving. I'll stay home and keep your sister-in-law company. Don't see me off." After giving his instructions, Lu Chen left the house without looking back.

Lu He watched her brother's retreating figure, her lips trembling slightly.

Hearing no movement from the living room, Shen Qiaoyue came out of her room.

"Sister-in-law!" Lu He heard the noise and looked towards Shen Qiaoyue's bedroom. Seeing her come out, he stepped forward with tears in his eyes and took Shen Qiaoyue's hand.

Shen Qiaoyue stroked Lu He's head and comforted her, "Don't be too sad. Your brother is a soldier, and it's common for him to go on missions. As long as we live our own lives well, that's enough. We won't cause him any trouble, and we won't have any worries!"

In her past life, she didn't understand Lu Chen. Now that she has the chance to get along and live with him in this life, Shen Qiaoyue should learn to grow up and stand on her own.

“Sister-in-law is right. From now on, I will take the bus home every night after I finish studying, so I can talk to you more,” Lu He said.

These days, she's been staying in the city with Aunt Wen to focus on her studies, and she only comes back on Saturday afternoons.

Now that her brother is not at home, Lu He wants to spend more time with her sister-in-law.

Shen Qiaoyue said, "Don't overwork yourself. Your sister-in-law lives in the family compound and won't be bullied by others. Don't worry."

"Mmm." Lu He nodded.

After Lu Chen packed his luggage, Shen Yuanyi personally escorted him to the airport.

Before the plane took off, Shen Yuanyi stared at Lu Chen, his brows furrowed, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back.

"Commander, do you need to take good care of Qiaoyue?" Lu Chen's only worry was his wife and the child in her belly.

Shen Yuanyi nodded and patted Lu Chen's shoulder gently, saying, "Don't worry, Qiaoyue is my niece. I won't let anything happen to her. When you go there, your duties are important, but don't forget! You have a family. Protect yourself and come back alive."

"Yes, sir." Lu Chen straightened up and said to Shen Yuanyi.

"Go!" Shen Yuanyi said, waving his hand weakly.

Lu Chen carried a bag, saluted Shen Yuanyi, and then turned and boarded the plane.

Military aircraft would not be deployed for evacuation unless the situation was urgent.

Lu Chen dared not turn around!

Shen Yuanyi watched Lu Chen board the plane until the plane door closed.

He sighed helplessly.

"Let's go, let's go back." Shen Yuanyi turned and left the airport. He had more important things to do next. "Arrange a car for me to go to the Northwest Military Region."
