Shen Qiaoyue has been reborn. In her past life, she was deceived by her best friend and sweet-talked by a scumbag man into divorcing him. After he used her to climb up in the world, he reported her...
Shen Qiaoyue covered her nose and went in first.
I saw two very strong charcoal fires in the room.
Xiang Shulan was lying on the sofa.
"Sister-in-law Shulan."
Xiang Shulan lost consciousness, and Shen Qiaoyue squatted down and shook her, but she still did not wake up.
"Brother Chen, take him to the hospital."
Lu Chen disregarded all other etiquette and picked up Xiang Shulan, heading towards the hospital.
As Shen Qiaoyue was about to stand up and follow, she saw a letter on the ground.
I picked it up and took a look.
This letter was written by Zhang Dali's ex-girlfriend's mother, and it was the reason that triggered Xiang Shulan's suicide. Shen Qiaoyue quickly put the letter away.
This thing is something that could get Zhang Dali fired.
He put the letter in his pocket and went to the hospital with it.
"sister in law?"
Lu He watched as her brother carried someone out; it seemed he had fainted.
"Lu He, wait for us at home, don't wander off." As they passed by her house, Shen Qiaoyue instructed Lu He.
Lu Chen ran too fast, and Shen Qiaoyue couldn't keep up, plus she was still feeling unwell.
When Lu Chen arrived at the hospital, he was already at the door of the emergency room.
"How is it?" Shen Qiaoyue asked breathlessly, almost fainting.
Lu Chen gently patted Shen Qiaoyue's back and said, "The doctor is still trying to save her; he said it might be poisoning."
"That Sister Shulan, really, how could she be so foolish!" Thinking about it now, it's really frightening.
After a long while, Shen Qiaoyue finally recovered and stood up, her back and legs trembling.
Lu Chen helped Shen Qiaoyue sit down on a chair next to him.
"Sit down for a while. I've already called the military base, and Zhang Dali will be here soon." Lu Chen didn't dare to openly hug Shen Qiaoyue in public, and he kept a certain distance between them while sitting.
Shen Qiaoyue watched Lu Chen's actions.
"We're husband and wife, it shouldn't be like this."
Shen Qiaoyue knew that he was doing it for everyone's good.
Lu Chen coughed and explained, "This isn't home; if it affects the city's appearance, we'll get criticized."
As for Lu Chen, he didn't care. He had been criticized for being too indifferent before.
Things are different now. He's married, and his sister is with him. He has to follow every rule.
Zhang Dali appeared; he ran over from the army.
"Commander Lu, sister, what happened?" Zhang Dali rushed over as soon as he learned that his wife had fainted at home, without even having time to put on his coat.
Shen Qiaoyue and Lu Chen both stood up.
"He's still in the emergency room," Lu Chen explained coldly.
Zhang Dali and Lu Chen were not in the same group, and the two were not very familiar with each other.
Zhang Dali stared at the light in the emergency room, nervously rubbing his hands without saying a word.
Looking at Zhang Dali's anxious expression, Shen Qiaoyue realized that he didn't seem to care.
Seeing that the weather was too cold, Lu Chen took off his coat and gave it to Zhang Dali, saying, "You wait here, we'll go back first. My sister is still at home; she hired workers to build the kitchen today."
"Okay, thank you for today. I don't need the clothes." Zhang Dali wasn't very familiar with Lu Chen and felt embarrassed to wear them.
Lu Chen said, "Wear it. Just return it to me when you get back."
Zhang Dali did feel cold; he was only wearing one layer of clothing.
In contrast, Lu Chen was wearing two layers of clothing underneath.
"We're leaving now."
Lu Chen pulled Shen Qiaoyue away.
On the way back, Lu Chen walked to Shen Qiaoyue's side and deliberately slowed down his pace.
"Are you alright? Are you feeling any better today?" Lu Chen didn't forget to ask about Shen Qiaoyue's injuries. "I came back late yesterday and didn't apply the medicine for you. Did you apply it yourself later?"
Shen Qiaoyue looked up at Lu Chen shyly and said, "No, it doesn't hurt anymore when I woke up today, so I shouldn't need to apply it anymore."
The two fell silent suddenly, with only the sound of the whistling cold wind and snowflakes.
Back to the family compound.
"Commander Lu, what happened to Shulan?" A woman in her thirties asked worriedly when she saw Lu Chen carrying Xiang Shulan towards the hospital.
Shen Qiaoyue sized her up. This was Huang Yingzi, and her husband was Zhuang Dasheng, the artillery battalion commander. They were both from peasant backgrounds and were kind-hearted and not the kind of people who were easy to bully.
In her past life, Lin Yaya instigated Shen Qiaoyue to borrow things from Xiang Shulan's family and often didn't return them. She even helped Xiang Shulan vent her anger.
They verbally abused Shen Qiaoyue mercilessly.
"Sister-in-law Shulan suffered from charcoal poisoning and has been rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. We don't know her condition yet. Deputy Regiment Commander Zhang is with her there, and we should have results soon," Shen Qiaoyue answered first.
After all, Lu Chen was holding someone else's wife, so Shen Qiaoyue felt it was better for her to answer for Lu Chen to avoid any misunderstandings.
"I just wanted to go to Sister Shulan's house to borrow some needles and thread. When I got home, I called her, but there was no response. I saw her lying on the sofa, and there were two braziers in the room. I thought we were doomed, so I asked my husband to break down the door and take her to the hospital."
Shen Qiaoyue began to explain.
"Ah!" Huang Yingzi exclaimed in shock. "This... charcoal poisoning is no small matter. Everyone knows that charcoal can cause poisoning in the dead of winter. Doesn't Shulan know that?"
“Shulan is from the North, where the kang (heated brick bed) is warm. She hasn’t been in the South for long, so she probably hasn’t quite adjusted yet. It’s normal that she forgot there was charcoal in the room during her afternoon nap,” Shen Qiaoyue quickly explained.
Huang Yingzi nodded and breathed a sigh of relief, saying, "It's fortunate that you two discovered it in time; otherwise, if it had been any later, there might not have been a chance to save them."
