Chapter 1-1- Awakening

Li You opened his eyes, and the first thing he saw was the vines wrapped around the ceiling. They emitted a faint blue-green glow and spread over most of the walls of the room, making it look like the interior of a giant plant.

He sat up from the bed in a daze, looked around, and was stunned for a long time before he remembered that he should have been riding an electric motorcycle to deliver food. When he turned a corner, a 100-ton king suddenly appeared in front of him...

At this moment, he saw a vast, spacious circular area, presumably the building's central hall on this floor. Above the hall was a dome, and tens of thousands of vines cascaded down from the central ventilation shaft, forming a 20-meter-high waterfall of light. Like a giant, cold-light jellyfish, it enveloped the entire space in a beautiful yet eerie atmosphere.

Li You was shocked by this scene, and then began to observe everything in the hall.

He found that the ground was littered with a lot of debris, including rotten cloth fibers, broken glassware, overturned or fallen apart sofas, tables and chairs, and a considerable number of human or animal bones, which were scattered in various corners of the room in the form of broken bones.

Li You stared at the human bones on the ground for a few more seconds, his eyelids twitching. He quickly took a few deep breaths and forced himself to calm down. This was the first time he had ever seen human bones. Combined with the eerie, claustrophobic, and lonely environment, it was almost like a horror movie, making him feel uneasy.

After calming down for several minutes and finally regaining some spirit, Li You frowned slightly, and a little confusion arose in his heart.

Whether it's a disaster, an incident, or an accident, after so long, there should be police or military personnel to deal with it, right? Even if it's just to collect the bodies of the deceased.

Why does it look like no one is in charge here?

This is the disadvantage of traveling through time without inheriting memories, becoming illiterate directly... He thought helplessly, then put down the book, walked around the hall, and picked up a long metal object.

It looked like a slender, sci-fi-style gun, with a white casing and a large number of intricate carvings on the barrel and body, making it unusually exquisite. Considering that it felt very solid, possibly made of some special plastic, Li You decided to use it as a self-defense "bat."

Finally, after wandering around for more than ten minutes, Li You finally found an abandoned elevator shaft and the entrance to the safety passage next to it in a corner of the hall.

So he went in immediately.

Honestly, he should have been more cautious, at least testing the stairwell to see if there were any unknown threats. But the environment here was really creepy, like a claustrophobic catacombs, and even with the fluorescent vines providing light, he didn't want to stay in this place for another second.

Li You climbed up the metal staircase floor by floor, trying to control the force of his footsteps to make them less noticeable. He felt like he was walking in a horror movie, with a terrifying monster potentially bursting out of the entrance to other floors at any moment and pouncing on him.

He chose to go up because he felt there were no windows there, and it felt more like being underground. But it didn't matter if he went the wrong way, because there might be a rooftop on the top floor, allowing him to take a vantage point and overlook the entire area.

He climbed the stairs diligently, not interested in exploring the interior of any floor along the way. After climbing eight floors, Li You finally reached the ninth and final floor.

Gripping the "bat" tightly in his hand, he stepped cautiously into the floor, and then saw a wide corridor in the dim light of the fluorescent vines.

There were rooms or branches on both sides of the corridor, and at the end was a huge metal door, and next to it was a small door that was not closed and let in a faint light.

Is that...sunshine?

Feeling the flowing air, he subconsciously quickened his pace, reaching the entrance of the small door. He opened it and saw a staircase tunnel leading upwards. Looking up, the tunnel exit had become a bright dot, with golden light pouring in, making the scene before him look like a stairway to heaven, beautiful and sacred.

Finally I can leave this damn place!

His heart was burning with excitement, and he jogged all the way and rushed straight through the light gate.

However, the next moment, when his eyes adjusted to the surrounding lighting, he was shocked to find that there was not land outside, but a small platform supported on the water.

Looking around, the platform was surrounded by a deep, dark lake, unknown how many hundreds of meters deep it was, but certainly two or three kilometers across. Beyond the lake's edge, no shore was visible; instead, a towering, seamless, smooth rock wall stood like a massive wall, completely enclosing the vast lake.

For a moment, Li You stood there in a daze, with only one thought left in his mind.
