Leo found himself transported into a desolate wasteland, the remnants of a once-thriving magical civilization. There, he became Yvette – an immortal witch who could neither age nor die.

Chapter 43-43- It's alive
"Eselyn Omega? The Madam Chairwoman?" Rosaline covered her mouth in surprise after hearing the teacher read out the above content.
In her dream, she had seen that lady, of course, on the big TV in the Wright apartment. At that time, Eselin was dressed in gorgeous clothes, sitting gracefully on the podium of a charity event, raising funds for local orphans with her voice and emotion. Her speech was very contagious, and her eyes were red when she was emotional, which earned Rosaline tears in front of the TV.
Although her impression of Black Tower Medicine became somewhat bad later in her life in the Black Water District, this did not prevent her from having a good impression of Esther.
After all, in a sense, she and Esther were both aristocratic ladies, of similar social classes, and both full of kindness and sympathy towards the lower classes. If someone attacked Esther for being hypocritical and putting on a show, she would suddenly empathize with them and feel very uncomfortable.
——Of course, the premise is that Esther is really a good person.
Yvette hummed, unsurprised. If doomsday were to strike, the Abyss Base, nestled within the crater lake, would indeed be a natural refuge. As the CEO of the Black Tower branch and the "royal granddaughter" of the Black Tower's ruling family, Ms. Estherin surely had the right to seek refuge there.
The real core is still the last two sentences.
What was the "divine molt" at the bottom of the Divine Eclipse? It sounded like it was related to "God." Could it be some transcendent existence that even Black Tower Medicine couldn't comprehend, so they could only use the word "God"?
Does the mutation originating from the sea mean that the distortion began in the ocean? When it finally spread to land, the sheer scale of the transformation led to the destruction of the original civilization?
The possibility is not small... She is now hesitant to cross the sea because the ocean is a super poisonous vessel, too dangerous. Who knows what level of super-large deformed creatures are hiding in it, eating a little kid at a time.
She continued to flip through the pages and found that there was nothing below. In other words, Ms. Estherlin only left such a pitiful few last words before her death. The other things that should theoretically appear in the last words were nowhere to be seen.
So, proving her family's innocence was her only obsession before she died?
Yvette put down the notebook, and then caught a glimpse of Rosalyn rummaging through the drawers like a thief, no, a little detective, with great interest.
Then, she pulled a heavy file bag from a dark corner. Most of the documents inside were already rotten and moldy, but there were still some fragments that were barely readable. She carefully selected a few pages with barely legible handwriting and handed them to the teacher.
Yvette took it, read it, and translated it for Rosalyn.
"Experimental Log F#933, August 9, 2146. The sixth phase of the Immortality Project is nearing completion. Summary of the results."
"Recorded by: Leo Claus."
“…(indistinct)…success rate: 33% (see attachment for details), a significant increase of 14% compared to the fifth phase of the project.”
"The new generation of Transfiguration Potion Type 7 will greatly help improve the success rate."
"P.S. Dr. Dillon Demps has recovered mentally and is able to return to continue conducting experiments."
"Request: Expand experimental permissions and quickly launch the seventh phase."
"Board's note: approved."
There is no doubt that compared with Ms. Esther's suicide note, this experimental log revealed much more information, which made Yvette stunned for a long time before she extracted the details worth paying attention to one by one.
August 9, 2146?
She clearly remembered that when she woke up as an orphan in the Abyss Base during her first dream, the year was 2125. A year before that, it was the time period when she came into contact with the Hoffman family during her second dream.
So, this report was produced 21 years after the original owner first participated in the Metamorphosis Plan?
So during these 21 years, the end of the world never came?
The two new terms, "The Sixth Phase of the Immortality Project" and "The Seventh Type of the New Generation of Metamorphosis Potion", immediately reminded her of her own uniqueness and the kind of medicine she took when participating in the Metamorphosis Project.
It’s just that the medicine she took at the beginning was the Metamorphosis Potion Type 2, and the term used here is “Type 7”… Is this the product of iteration?
Could it be that the Transformation Project is just a pseudonym for the Immortality Project? Conquering genetic diseases is fake, and researching immortality is real?
Am I, who is suspected to be immortal, the successful product of this plan?
But if that's the case, why am I the only one who survived the apocalypse?
Could it be that this is just like the US moon landing, where the path to success cannot be glimpsed or replicated, so apart from himself, even Ms. Estherlin, the granddaughter of the Black Tower Pharmaceuticals, can only watch and wait for death?
So, a 33% success rate, could it be the immortality potion? It sounds really high...
Thinking of this, Yvette was puzzled and her eyes fell on the name "Dillon Demps" again.
She knew this name because the female doctor who took care of her when she first entered the dream, "Tabitha Clovillan", was a student of Dr. Dillon.
But Dr. Dillon didn't seem to be in charge of the Metamorphosis Project. At least when she was on the ninth floor underground, she had never seen Dr. Dillon. She only heard Dr. Tabitha mention him when chatting with other researchers.
According to this log report, Dr. Dillon had mental problems but has recovered... Is there any connection between his mental problems and the immortality project?
…
"Teacher, are you... okay?" Seeing Yvette lost in thought as if petrified after reading the experimental log, Rosalyn finally couldn't help but called out worriedly after waiting for more than ten minutes.
"Well...it's okay." Yvette shook her head. The document revealed too much information, allowing her to see the tip of the iceberg of the secrets hidden in the Abyss Base before Doomsday. Although it could not explain the source of Doomsday, it did provide some reliable evidence for her own origins.
As expected, the original owner was most likely an immortal created by Black Tower Medicine, so she would wake up here.
I just don’t know why, the person who created her died, and she was the only one who survived the end of the world. There must be some other mystery hidden in this.
Then, she flipped through the other readable experimental logs.
The remaining logs were the final part of the "Sixth Phase of the Immortality Project". Since they were no longer "summaries of achievements" but daily records, the content seemed much more bland. They just recorded the normal status monitoring of the subjects, without involving more secrets, nor did they mention the mysterious "divine transformation" in Ms. Esther's suicide note.
She put down the journal and asked, "Are there any places you haven't searched yet?"
"No more." Rosalin shook her head. She was completely bewildered by the plans and the possible meaning behind the potions, but the archaeological investigation was quite interesting. Therefore, she searched diligently and found a number of professional books in the medical field, which she planned to pack up and take back to the manor.
"Then continue to the next floor," said Yvette.
After leaving the negative eleventh floor and continuing down to the negative twelfth floor, the remaining atmosphere of life suddenly became much less.
But that's normal, this is the "main control center" of the Abyss Base, to put it bluntly, it is where the server data center is located.
It was a spacious metal room with few functional areas. Glowing magical vines crawled across the cold metal walls, entwined and symbiotically intertwined with the centuries-old "cloud container," illuminating the entire room.
At the heart of the room stood a massive columnar machine, encased in a sturdy glass casing. The exposed obsidian surface within was covered in numerous fine lines. While seemingly decorative, Yvette was certain that within these lines lay a dense array of runes, invisible to the naked eye. These lines represented the knowledge and power of the Origin Civilization, a source of immense pride.
She tried to activate it, but there was no response. She also couldn't find the magic wire to input magic power. As for what went wrong, she had no idea.
However, here, Rosalin, a master of rummaging through boxes and cabinets, still found the log records in the file bag. They should have been left by the computer room maintenance personnel, and many of them were relatively well preserved.
Compared with the experimental log of the Eternal Life Project, this is much less valuable. After all, it is just computer room maintenance.
But after searching carefully for the parts that had not yet rotted, there was still a record that caught Yvette's attention.
This is an experimental record from 2128, three years after the original owner participated in the Metamorphosis Project.
Amidst the vast decay, only one line of blurry text, yet filled with a strong sense of fear, transcended time and space and entered Yvette's eyes:
"Oh my goodness..."
"Firefly Core..."
“It…it’s alive…”
