Huo Junshan lowered his head and said irritably, "I just wanted to hug you, but I couldn't. I can't find you today."

The captain almost burst out laughing. His nephew was good in every way, except that he was too innocent and had no clue about love.

Haha, he was almost dying of laughter. He tried to hug her but before he could, he scared her so much that she didn't dare to come any closer.

Huo Junshan was so anxious that he could only stare blankly. He hurriedly reached for the brigade leader's pipe, but the brigade leader slowly said, "She has taken leave and is probably resting at the educated youth settlement."

As soon as the captain finished speaking, Huo Junshan disappeared without a trace.

He knocked on the little girl's door, but no one answered, so he simply pushed the door open and went in.

The little girl was sleeping soundly in bed, her face a little pale. He went over and touched her forehead; she didn't have a fever.

He held her little hand and gently shook it. "Yanyan, wake up."

Yun Ningyan opened her eyes groggily. She saw Huo Junshan and asked in confusion, "What did you just call me?"

"Yanyan, I'll call you Yanyan."

Yun Ningyan lay motionless on the bed. She smiled; everyone else called her Ningning, but he insisted on calling her Yanyan.

Huo Junshan held her hands tightly and asked in a low voice, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Shall I take you to the hospital?"

Yun Ningyan blushed and shook her head. "I'm fine. I'll be alright in a couple of days."

Huo Junshan keenly smelled the scent of blood. He looked flustered and said, "Yanyan, are you injured? I smell blood."

Her face flushed red with embarrassment.

How is she supposed to explain that she's on her period? How can this man not even know this basic common sense?

Huo Junshan was slightly taken aback when he heard her inner thoughts, and a suspicious blush appeared on his face.

Seeing that he didn't speak and was still waiting for her answer, Yun Ningyan stammered, "I'm on my period."

She almost bit her tongue. Luckily, the man didn't ask any more questions, or she would have been in serious trouble.

Huo Junshan nodded calmly, but inwardly she was in turmoil. She was even telling herself this, so did she have accepted him?

Before she could even feel happy, Yun Ningyan's stomach started growling.

Huo Junshan's face darkened. "Haven't eaten? Wait a minute."

After he finished speaking, he put Shouyun Ningyan's hand under the covers, closed the door, and left.

After he left, Yun Ningyan stared blankly at her hands. His hands were very large, and they enveloped her small hands, making her feel very safe.

Huo Junshan went outside and placed his hand on his face, feeling the lingering warmth of the girl's skin and the touch of her fair and delicate skin. There was a faint scent of face cream.

It smells wonderful!

He left the educated youth settlement, went straight to the fields, found his mother, and gave her a dry explanation, basically telling her to go back and cook something for Yanyan because Yanyan was having her period.

Li Xiangyun was stunned for a moment before she finally understood what was going on. She then took her two children back to cook.

She laughed so hard she almost choked while listening; she really never imagined her third son would have this day.

Huo Junshan stopped working and followed his mother home.

Li Xiangyun took out some brown sugar from home, cracked four eggs for Yun Ningyan, and asked Huo Junshan to deliver them to her.

She then instructed her son, "Tell her not to cook for the next few days. I'll cook and you can bring it to her."

If Yun, the educated youth, tells her son such a private matter, then the two of them are probably about to get together.

She, as the mother, was overjoyed and would prepare a variety of dishes for her over the next few days.

Huo Junshan pushed open the door with a plate of brown sugar and eggs. Yun Ningyan was still asleep, feeling very uncomfortable in her stomach. It was her first time, and she had a heavy flow, so she couldn't sleep soundly.

Huo Junshan shook the person awake.

Yun Ningyan was sore all over and didn't want to get up, so Huo Junshan helped her up and sat her against the headboard, feeding her bite by bite.

I borrowed a bicycle from the brigade leader's house and went directly to the supply and marketing cooperative.

He bought two jin of brown sugar, one jin of steamed egg cake, and also two jin of red beans and two jin of red dates. His mother said that these things are good for replenishing blood. He also wanted to buy some longan, but the commune didn't have any.

He went to find Yang Dasheng again. Yang Dasheng heard the knocking, came out with a cigarette in his mouth, wearing only shorts and a vest. He was a little surprised to see him. "Brother Huo, where's the meat? Aren't you selling meat today?"

Huo Junshan went straight into the courtyard. "Do you have any longan or goji berries? Get me some."

Yang Dasheng chuckled and said, "Yes, a brother brought them over today. What do you need them for?"

He peeked out and noticed something tied to the bicycle outside. Curious, he asked, "Is this for your sister-in-law? Wait here, I'll get it for you."

He went inside, and soon came out with a bag of things. Huo Junshan wanted to give him money, but Yang Dasheng waved his hand and said, "Brother Huo, don't be so polite with me. Consider this my apology to my sister-in-law."

Huo Junshan didn't stand on ceremony and left with the things.

He went to the meat processing plant again and bought an old hen to make soup for Yanyan.

He put the chicken back home, let his mother squat down, and then carried his things to the educated youth settlement.

Yun Ningyan was still asleep when she heard the door open. She woke up with a start and opened her eyes to look at Huo Junshan.

"You're covered in sweat, where have you been?"

Huo Junshan wiped the sweat from his forehead and said with a smile, "I'll go to the commune to buy you something. Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?"

He waved the sponge cake and brown sugar in his hand.
