Chapter 168 Reaching a Consensus

At the Jing family manor, the doctor carefully examined Chu Wuyang and, after confirming that she was unharmed,...

Jingmin's tense expression relaxed, and the worry in his eyes disappeared.

Yan Zhou wanted to discuss something with him, so the two went to the study together.

Yunyang naturally followed them back to the North Building.

Chu Wuyang had a servant bring a brand new dress for Yun Yang to change into.

After changing her clothes, Yunyang, guided by the maid, went to the sunroom and saw Chu Wuyang leisurely tending to the flowers.

Inside the sunroom, the white roses cultivated in the greenhouse bloomed freely, their petals delicate and vibrant.

The pure white was as flawless as the first snow, just like a beautiful woman dressed in simple white.

Standing tall and graceful, exuding a captivating fragrance.

But who could have imagined that beneath this beautiful exterior lay sharp thorns, a silent warning?

Even the slightest touch will prick your finger and cause it to bleed profusely.

Yun Yang straightened her back.

"Miss Chu, your acting was truly superb!"

"One minute I have a headache, the next I have a stomachache,"

"This pain came at just the right time, and it went away just as quickly!"

Chu Wuyang calmly placed the scissors on the table beside her, and gracefully turned around.

Her gaze swept over Yun Yang, and a sweet smile appeared on her lips, though it didn't reach her eyes.

"So clever!"

"Now that you know, why don't you tell us why you suddenly lost contact?"

As she spoke, Chu Wuyang gracefully picked up the teapot and poured Yun Yang a steaming cup of rose tea.

He gestured for her to sit down.

Yun Yang raised her chin slightly, walked straight to the chair, crossed her arms, and asked knowingly:

"Did you stage this whole farce today just to provoke me?"

"uh-huh!"

Chu Wuyang took a small sip of tea, her eyes crinkling with a smile, and she let out a soft hum of approval through her nose, clearly pleased with herself.

Yun Yang slowly raised her head, her gaze falling on the white villa not far away, gleaming with a cool, serene light in the sunlight.

A slight smile curved his lips, and he let out a soft hum through his nose.

The tone was a mixture of bitterness and irony, with a pointed implication.

"It's amazing how some people are willing to jump into such a trap full of loopholes."

After saying that, she suddenly picked up the teacup in front of her and drank the tea in one gulp.

After a moment, she closed her eyes slightly, her shoulders slumped, and she said softly with a hint of resignation:

"Alright! You win again this time."

Chu Wuyang's brows furrowed unconsciously.

Her intention was not to show off or provoke.

She placed her hands folded on her lap, and her expression became serious:

"What did he do during the two days you and Jingmin disappeared that made you suddenly have such thoughts of backing down?"

Yun Yang slowly turned her body to the side, shifting her gaze away from Chu Wuyang.

He glanced at the corner to the side, his expression carrying a hint of detachment, his tone calm.

“You don’t need to test me. I haven’t betrayed you, nor have I revealed a single word to Jingmin,”

After speaking, she paused slightly, as if her thoughts were being pulled by something, and she slowly fell into memories.

Her expression gradually softened, and a warm and gentle look unconsciously appeared on her face.

Her eyes seemed to sparkle, and her voice unconsciously softened.

"He was incredibly considerate to me those two days, taking care of me with more care than ever before."

"The moment I open my eyes, I can see him by my bedside. That feeling... is so wonderful!"

She tilted her head slightly, a faint smile still lingering on her lips.

Then, she sighed softly, a complex emotion flickering in her eyes, and slowly began to speak:

"Who wouldn't be tempted by someone so outstanding?"

"I can't tell whether it was a test or a genuine desire to repay a debt of gratitude."

"In short, I... really can't bear to see him being schemed against by the woman he loves."

Upon hearing this, Chu Wuyang's expression changed, and he immediately grasped the key information in her words.

She leaned forward, urgently interrupting her.

"You mean, he did all of this on purpose?"

"Is he testing us?"

Yun Yang turned her head and quietly looked at Chu Wuyang.

"Perhaps, but it could also be a conciliatory tactic."

"He may have sensed something, so he used this way of compensating me to subtly make me back down, and at the same time, he may be giving you a warning."

She sighed softly, her eyes dimming slightly.

"I have to say, his move was really clever."

“I admit that I was tempted by the warmth he gave me, and I even had thoughts of backing out.”

Yun Yang tilted her head slightly.

"See, I'm not greedy at all. As long as he's even a little bit nice to me, I can't bring myself to do anything to hurt him."

Yun Yang stared intently at Chu Wuyang, a mocking smile playing on her lips, and said coldly:

"If someone could have such a complete and unconditional love for me, I would love only him with all my heart."

“I would never do something as absurd and outrageous as letting someone else seduce my husband.”

Upon hearing this, a hint of displeasure flashed across Chu Wuyang's face.

She turned her head slightly, her eyes revealing a hint of determination, and replied stiffly:

"That's you. What I do is my business, and it has nothing to do with you."

As she spoke, she lowered her eyes, her face instantly darkening, a flash of hatred crossing her eyes as she gritted her teeth and whispered:

"You're not me, how could you possibly understand the real reason I did this!"
