After Jing Min helped Chu Wuyang wash up, he led her to the table.
His gaze fell on her silent profile.
I knew in my heart that I was in the wrong.
The matter of the child was somewhat coerced, and her agreement was not explicit.
But it's not easy for them to give in now.
He could only pretend not to see her distress.
She lowered her eyelashes, but her fingertips unconsciously tightened a little.
Because she always had various excuses and reasons for not keeping her promises to him, and even lied to him!
He couldn't gamble anymore.
The child is not only a source of hope, but also an inseparable bond between the two.
He needed this reassurance.
Jing Min's peripheral vision swept over Chu Wuyang's fair calves.
His gaze lingered on the faint line, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes.
Chu Wuyang was pressed down in front of the dining table, fiddling with her fingers listlessly.
Her mood was written all over her face; she looked like she couldn't be bothered to talk to him.
Jingmin pursed his lips.
He picked up the seafood congee from the table, his gaze lingered for a moment, then he scooped up a spoonful and gently blew on it.
Only then did he carefully bring it to her lips, his voice gentle.
"You must have been exhausted last night?"
"This seafood porridge is made with ingredients that were just caught this morning. It's very fresh. Sweetie, want to try a bite?"
His voice was low and gentle, deliberately softened.
It even carried a hint of cautious ingratiation.
He's clearly a cunning person, but at this moment he's pretending to be weak.
It makes it impossible for anyone to get angry.
Chu Wuyang glared at him, feeling both angry and frustrated.
She could tell.
He's clearly feigning helplessness; his motives are definitely not pure!
Jing Min, however, paid no attention to her angry glare. Seeing that she remained motionless, he patiently coaxed her.
"Just one bite, okay?"
The way he looked at her was like that of a trapped beast afraid of being abandoned.
Despite having the upper hand, she forced herself to put on a pitiful and restrained act.
Chu Wuyang pursed her lips.
The anger she felt was completely dispelled by his repeated "good boy/girl" words.
In the end, she silently opened her mouth and bit into the spoonful of warm porridge.
The taste is indeed delicious!
Chu Wuyang took a bite, and her eyes lit up.
It was as if this unexpected deliciousness had soothed my emotions.
Jingmin saw it all.
A faint smile quietly curved the corners of her lips, and the tension in her heart eased a little.
She ate intently, her brow slightly relaxed.
Her cheeks were puffed out like a satisfied little squirrel.
After swallowing the porridge, she couldn't help but lick the corner of her mouth.
He looked up at Jingmin.
There was a hint of expectation in his eyes.
He clearly wanted a second bite.
Jingmin chuckled.
He scooped up another spoonful of porridge, first bringing it to his lips and gently blowing on it to confirm the temperature was right before offering it to her mouth.
Chu Wuyang opened her mouth and took it.
Jingmin's movements were gentle and natural, as if he were feeding his most precious treasure.
He watched her eat happily, and his gaze softened unconsciously.
My gaze lingered on the corner of her slightly pouting lips, where I noticed a glistening grain of rice clinging to them.
He couldn't help but move closer.
He gently pecked the corner of her mouth, his warm lips carrying away the grain of rice.
It carried a subtle, almost imperceptible tenderness.
Chu Wuyang was stunned.
A faint blush instantly rose to her cheeks. She raised her hand and gently pushed his shoulder, murmuring softly,
"Time to eat, time to eat."
"Don't stop!"
Jing Min chuckled at her little reaction, a hint of doting in his eyes.
He stopped teasing her.
He obediently scooped up the porridge and continued to feed her, his movements as gentle and meticulous as ever.
He sat to the side, quietly watching her drink the porridge.
It was as if time had slowed down.
The sunlight streamed in through the window, gently falling on the two of them.
The air was filled with the delicious aroma of seafood congee.
It was as if the gloom of the past few days had been dispelled by this moment of warmth.
Chu Wuyang finished the last bite of porridge.
Naturally, he picked up the milk on the table and took a sip.
Jingmin's smile faded slightly, and his gaze drifted away.
His gaze deepened as he watched her fingers grip the rim of the cup.
He did not stop him.
I just watched her drink it quietly.
It's like waiting for a moment that's destined to arrive.
Sure enough, within seconds,
Chu Wuyang loosened her grip, and the milk cup rolled to the ground with a soft, crisp sound.
She collapsed, her body limp.
Jingmin caught her quickly and held her tightly in his arms.
He looked down at her sleeping face.
He gently stroked her cheek with his fingertips, his touch as tender as if he were handling the most precious porcelain in the world.
Her breathing was light and even, as if she were in a carefree dream.
Jingmin tightened his arms, pulling her firmly into his embrace.
It was as if he wanted to embed her into his very bones and blood.
He lowered his head.
He slowly buried his face in the crook of her neck, his nose rubbing greedily against her warm skin.
I closed my eyes, savoring her scent.
The soft warmth in his arms gradually calmed his heartbeat.
A barely perceptible smile appeared at the corner of his lips.
She uttered a sentence as if in a murmur.
"Sweetie, go to sleep."
...
Chu Wuyang was abruptly pulled back to consciousness by excruciating pain.
She suddenly opened her eyes, but could see nothing.
Everything was pitch black.
He then realized that his eyes were covered by a warm cloth.
Her breathing immediately became erratic.
My throat was so dry I couldn't make a sound.
