The sun had just set in Country T, and it wasn't completely dark yet. The group arrived at the hotel, but everything was still unsettled.
The suitcase had just been pulled into the room, the room's light still carrying a lingering warm yellow glow.
Chu Wuyang's phone vibrated.
She picked it up instinctively, and the moment she saw the unfamiliar message, she felt as if all her strength had been drained away.
Her face turned deathly pale, and her fingers trembled as she tapped the image—
In the photo, Jin Xian is covered in injuries, his face is so swollen that he is almost unrecognizable, dried bloodstains run down the corners of his lips, and his hands are tied behind his back.
It's like being carelessly thrown into some damp, cramped corner.
The bloodstains on the broken cement wall served as a stark reminder of the reality and cruelty of everything.
Chu Wuyang froze on the spot, her phone nearly slipping from her hand.
Jingmin had just finished putting his luggage down on the other side when he turned around and saw her stiff back and the hand holding her phone.
He strode forward, his gaze falling on the photograph, a flash of surprise crossing his face.
He instinctively reached out and supported her shoulder, his tone softening.
"Yangyang, don't panic, let's make a call and ask what happened—"
"We can't fight!"
Chu Wuyang abruptly interrupted him, her voice carrying a mixture of urgent suppression and rational clarity.
She looked up abruptly, her eyes revealing a calm anger.
"They're warning us, this is a show of force!"
She gritted her teeth, almost hearing the sound of her blood surging through her body.
“They must already know about the relationship between Jin Xian, you, and me through Old Master Jin.”
Before the words were finished,
She had already pushed open the door and walked out quickly.
Jing Min, his brows furrowed, quickly followed behind her.
Where to?
Chu Wuyang didn't turn around, but simply walked to the end of the corridor.
He raised his hand and slammed it against Yang Jinchu's door, the knocking so urgent it was almost like a hammer pounding on his heart.
The door clicked open from the inside.
Yang Jinchu had just finished showering and was wearing a light gray shirt over his clothes, the cuffs slightly rolled up.
His gentle features immediately sensed something was amiss, and his voice betrayed barely suppressed concern.
"What's wrong, Yangyang?"
Chu Wuyang handed over the phone, her voice so anxious she was almost incoherent.
“Jin Xuan…he…”
Yang Jinchu frowned.
He quickly took the phone, and the moment he saw the photo, he felt a chill run down his spine.
He looked up, but his voice remained gentle.
"Don't rush... Come in first, and we'll talk slowly."
He pushed the door open a little and stepped aside to let her in.
Just then, he caught a glimpse of Jing Min standing not far away in the corridor.
The man stood ramrod straight, his expression cold and aloof, like a silent sculpture.
Yang Jinchu raised an eyebrow slightly.
"You're coming too?"
Jing Min walked closer expressionlessly, without saying a word.
Just as they brushed past each other, his shoulder bumped into Yang Jinchu.
A moment of silence.
Yang Jinchu glanced down at his shoulder where he had been bumped.
He frowned, said nothing, and simply turned slightly to close the door.
The three sat around in the living room of the hotel suite, the air seemed to freeze, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
On the sofa, Chu Wuyang and Yang Jinchu sat side by side, neither too close nor too far, yet naturally and tacitly on the same side.
Her brows furrowed as she whispered her thoughts to Yang Jinchu, her expression anxious.
Across from him, Jing Min sat alone on a single sofa, arms crossed over his chest, leaning back in his chair.
He coldly observed the two approaching, his eyes deep and unfathomable, his thin lips pressed into a sharp line.
There was no warmth on his face.
Chu Wuyang didn't even glance at him!
Yang Jinchu said in a low voice,
"We don't know what the other party wants, so it would be unwise to act rashly now."
"Make a phone call first to test the waters."
Upon hearing this, Jing Min scoffed inwardly, thinking he might have some brilliant idea, but it turned out he still had to make a phone call. How come he just said he could do it by making a call?
Chu Wuyang nodded, his voice low and hoarse but firm.
"Yes, as long as we can confirm that Jin Xian is still alive... any conditions are negotiable!"
Jing Min glanced at Chu Wuyang upon hearing this, his pupils shrinking slightly.
Whatever the conditions... we can discuss them.
The call was quickly answered, and a male voice with a hint of mockery came through.
"Hey, Jingmin, you think you're so capable? Well, you've finally met your match with me."
"What, now that you know your brother-in-law is in my hands, you're rushing to beg for mercy?"
In short, it directly targets Jing Min, and its provocation is blatant.
The air pressure inside the room dropped several degrees instantly.
Jing Min's knuckles cracked as he leaned forward slightly, his gaze so cold it seemed to pierce through the phone screen.
Chu Wuyang immediately sensed his emotions, glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, and gave him a faint look: Don't be impulsive.
Jing Min gritted his teeth, forcibly suppressing his anger, and leaned back on the sofa.
He remained silent.
Yang Jinchu had already calmly taken over the conversation, his tone so even it didn't seem like they were in a confrontation.
"Chen Guang, how have you been?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone.
"...Who are you? How do you know my name?"
Chen Guang's tone changed from his previous arrogant and unrestrained manner to one of vigilance and tension.
He was a man of the underworld, and he knew all too well that unless someone was extremely close to him, it was unwise to rashly call him by his real name.
This means either you are extremely confident, or you don't take him seriously at all.
Moreover, he had just sent a message to Jing Min's "wife".
But the phone ended up in the hands of another man?
"Who are you? How did you get my number?"
"Jingmin? You little brat, are you trying to trick me?"
