Chu Wuyang finally quieted down, staring blankly at him, her eyes vacant and dazed.
Yang Jinchu gently took her hand and led her to sit down on the sofa.
He then half-squatted in front of her, looking her in the eye.
"Yangyang, I won't hide anymore, so you shouldn't hide either..."
His tone was both firm and gentle.
"Since you've already made up your mind, don't waver. Things always need to come to a conclusion."
Chu Wuyang slightly parted his lips,
"But--"
"No buts."
The words had barely left his mouth when the doorbell rang suddenly—urgently and violently.
One sound after another, like hammer blows striking people's hearts.
Chu Wuyang was startled and instinctively shrank back.
But Yang Jinchu grabbed her arm, preventing her from pulling away.
He gently stroked her hair and whispered,
"I'll go open the door."
"Wait, wait a minute."
She instinctively grabbed his arm, her fingertips trembling slightly.
Yang Jinchu looked at her, a hint of pity flashing in his eyes, his voice low and gentle.
"good."
He didn't move, but handed her the water glass on the table.
She took it, lowered her head, and drank it sip by sip, the water glistening on her lips, clear and sparkling.
Like some emotion that was left unspoken.
His gaze darkened slightly.
Staring at her intently, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly.
Ultimately, he couldn't suppress the urge to get closer.
His head slowly lowered.
Chu Wuyang was startled and abruptly turned her head, causing water to splash out of the cup.
It splashed onto Yang Jinchu's hand, feeling icy cold.
He seemed oblivious, tightening his grip on her and holding her firmly in his arms.
His lips brushed against her cheek, burning with uncontrollable heat.
"Don't..."
Her voice was weak and nervous, filled with helpless resistance.
But Yang Jinchu whispered in her ear, enunciating each word clearly.
"Don't hide... that's how it works."
Before he finished speaking, his lips were already close to her neck, gently lingering there.
The force wasn't strong, but it felt like needles pricking her heart, making it hard for her to breathe.
She closed her eyes, her heart pounding wildly.
But he acted as if nothing had happened and let go of her hand.
He even took a good look at the red mark.
He stood up and walked towards the door.
The doorbell continued to ring, its urgent knocking echoing through the air like a death knell.
The door trembled slightly, as if it would be kicked open at any moment.
Yang Jinchu walked to the door, reached out and grasped the doorknob.
The water stain on the back of my hand was still wet, and the chill lingered.
The knocking at the door grew increasingly violent.
It was like a raging wild beast tearing at this fragile space where people could barely breathe.
Yang Jinchu stood in front of the door, but did not open it immediately.
He turned and glanced at Chu Wuyang on the sofa.
She remained seated, her hands clutching the water glass, her eyes vacant.
"Yangyang".
Yang Jinchu's voice was low and hoarse.
"I'll open the door, don't be afraid."
After he finished speaking, he finally turned around and unlocked the door.
The door was pushed open with such force that it almost overturned the entire door panel.
Jing Min stood outside the door, his eyes gloomy and his face as cold as a knife.
He seemed to have emerged from a storm.
He was enveloped in an intense sense of oppression, and the hem of his clothes still carried the damp smell of the night rain.
His gaze quickly passed over Yang Jinchu and landed on the woman on the sofa—Chu Wuyang was wearing Yang Jinchu's coat.
He was still holding a water glass in his hand.
Her cheeks were flushed an unnatural red—a faint red mark was visible on her neck.
Jing Min's pupils dilated slightly, and he almost lost control in an instant.
"What have you done?!"
His voice was low and hoarse, yet incredibly ruthless.
The moment he stepped through the door,
Yang Jinchu had already blocked his way, and the air between them suddenly froze.
It was as if it was about to completely detonate the room.
What do you want to do?
Yang Jinchu's tone was no longer gentle, and she stared at him calmly.
"Get out of the way!"
Jing Min sneered, his voice carrying the calm before the storm.
"I've come to pick up my wife and take her home."
The air seemed to freeze for a moment.
Yang Jinchu stood firmer, slightly turning to block Jing Min's view, and his tone turned cold.
"She doesn't want to go back with you right now."
This sentence acted as a fuse.
It easily ignited the emotions that Jingmin had suppressed all night.
Do you know what she's thinking right now?
He took a step forward, forcing Yang Jinchu into a corner with nowhere to retreat, a mocking smile playing on his lips.
"You've always prided yourself on being a gentleman, yet you've actually done something like seducing another man's wife?"
"We're not even divorced yet, and you're already waiting to take over my assets?"
"Tsk, after all these years, you've become quite skilled at licking!"
He's so angry he doesn't even know what he's saying anymore.
That kind of hysterical, suppressed madness bursting forth,
The whole sentence sounds as if it were carved out word by word with a knife.
His insults were blatant, his tone sharp as shards of glass.
Even Chu Wuyang was enraged by these words, trembling with anger.
There was no trace of the tension he had felt just moments before, when he was worried the situation would spiral out of control.
"Shut up, Jingmin, get out of here!"
"You want me to get out?"
Jing Min scoffed, as if he had heard some absurd joke.
"So you can stay here and live a shameful life with this adulterer?"
Yang Jinchu interrupted.
"Either you speak properly, or you leave now!"
Jing Min turned back, his eyes filled with malice.
"Who gave you the right to speak?"
"Don't think that just because she kicked me out, she really cares about you and has you in her heart."
Jing Min suddenly raised his hand and shoved Yang Jinchu with considerable force.
