Chapter 79 Tests and Choices

The morning sunlight streamed through the car windows, bathing the interior in a warm glow.

Jing Min kept his promise from last night; his purpose for this trip was to see Yang Jinchu.

Yan Zhou was driving in front. At traffic lights, his gaze would occasionally drift to the two people in the back seat, but his mood wasn't as bright as the sunshine.

Strangely enough, during their previous cold war, those around them were afraid of being implicated and acted with trepidation.

The harmonious atmosphere between the two now has a slightly eerie feel to it.

Compared to his noticeably haggard appearance a few days ago, General Manager Jing seemed to have gained some energy.

The wife also appeared unusually calm, her head slightly tilted as she looked out the window, seemingly lost in thought.

The two still didn't exchange many words, but a certain tacit understanding and harmony was clearly visible.

"This is bizarre!" he muttered to himself. What was even stranger was that President Jing actually accompanied him to meet his love rival.

As soon as he got into the car, a storm of emotions surged within him, and it hasn't subsided yet. What happened between the two of them last night?

What important point did he miss? Jumping to the advanced version all of a sudden left him a little confused and unable to keep up. The CEO's actions had truly overturned his previous understanding of him.

While casually observing, her eyes unexpectedly met Jing Min's in the rearview mirror.

Yan Zhou was startled, as if struck by lightning, and his hands unconsciously tightened their grip on the steering wheel.

When people are nervous, they always pretend to be busy. He immediately looked away, adjusting the car music and wiping the spotless interior decorations.

Jingmin watched his guilty little movements and narrowed her eyes slightly.

After a moment of silence, a deep, magnetic voice rang out.

"Drive, don't get distracted!"

Reminded, Yan Zhou nodded hurriedly, "Yes."

The red light has turned green, and the car has started moving smoothly again.

After a short while, Chu Wuyang, who had been quietly gazing out the window, was lost in thought.

Suddenly, a familiar road sign came into her view. She opened her eyes wide, unsure, but upon closer inspection, she saw other familiar buildings around her.

Her face instantly darkened, her brows furrowed tightly, and anger ignited like a flame.

"This isn't the way to the hospital!"

She quickly turned to look at Jing Min, her accusation delivered with certainty.

Her eyes were full of reproach and disappointment, and her body trembled slightly with anger.

"Jingmin, you're breaking your promise! This is clearly the way to the airport, you liar!"

She'd been here for at least two years, so she knew the streets well; it was the road to the airport, and there weren't many hospitals along the way.

When faced with the accusations, Jing Min was initially slightly taken aback, but then regained his composure.

"You always accuse me of some trumped-up charges, this..."

Chu Wuyang was no longer looking at him, and was patting the driver's seat.

"Stop the car! I need to get off!"

Yan Zhou looked troubled, but he remained focused on driving, though he was inwardly worried.

I was just saying how great they were, how they were doing, and how could they have another argument so soon?

With the car traveling at high speed, he was afraid the two would start arguing and fighting—it's happened before, hasn't it? The consequences would be unimaginable.

He glanced back every now and then, gripped the steering wheel tightly, and barely dared to breathe.

Chu Wuyang was somewhat excited.

Jing Min sighed softly.

He tried to reach out and hug her to comfort her, but she violently shook him off and yelled threats.

"Stop the car, or turn around, or I'm jumping out right now?"

Yan Zhou was startled and quickly checked the locked car doors and windows.

Hearing such willful words, Jing Min also felt a surge of anger.

He grabbed her tightly, glanced out the window at the cross-sea bridge, and thought, "What would happen if she jumped?"

He spoke in a lecturing tone

"Can you please stop being so willful? You only listen halfway and then you think you're right?"

Chu Wuyang was still struggling in her arms

"How could I have wronged you? You're a liar! Not only did you lie to me about going to the hospital, but you're also trying to trick me into going to some unknown place, aren't you?"

Jingmin was amused by her imagination and tapped her forehead with his finger.

"You! I don't know what kind of nonsense you're thinking. Do you think I would kidnap you and sell you?"

Chu Wuyang lowered her eyes and pursed her lips.

"It's not like we haven't done it before, right?"

Her voice was soft, and her face was close to Jing Min's chin. They were so close that Jing Min heard her clearly, and a smile curved his lips.

"Human trafficking is illegal; I would never dare to do it."

Chu Wuyang stopped talking. What wouldn't this madman do?

Seeing that she remained silent, Jing Min pinched her fair cheek, his voice gentle.

Why aren't you saying anything?

Chu Wuyang turned her face to the side, not letting him touch her.

"It's all because of your mouth; you can make something flat sound round, and whatever you say goes!"

Seeing her seemingly contradictory expression of defiance yet resignation, he dropped his joking tone.

"Yes, this is the way to the airport."

Chu Wuyang turned her head, her eyes turning fierce.

"You were just trying to deny it, you liar!"

Seeing that she was genuinely angry, he stopped trying to play games with her.

"Yang Jinchu isn't at the hospital, she's at the airport. It's not impossible for you to go to the hospital if you want," he said, glancing at the driver's seat.

"Yan Zhou, turn around and go to the hospital."

After receiving the order, Yan Zhou really wanted to make a U-turn at the intersection ahead of the lane change.

Chu Wuyang couldn't quite grasp Jing Min's true tone, so she stared at him intently, her face expressionless.

Jingmin glanced at his watch and casually reminded him.

"It's 9:50 now. Yang Jinchu's flight is scheduled to depart at 10:10. We still need 10 minutes to get to the airport."
