After Chu Yunqi...
Chapter 6 Take You Home
It was four hours later that the two met again.
Chu Yunqi looked very excited and couldn't wait to ask Zhou Jingzhan: "Did you break up with Dr. Tao?"
His voice was a little loud. Zhou Jingzhan looked around and found that the loudspeaker Ji Hong was sitting not far away. Ji Hong was also very understanding and immediately lowered his head to sign.
Zhou Jingzhan still had an icy face: "How do you know?"
"Doctor Tao told me."
Zhou Jingzhan was a little surprised, afraid that Tao Mo would say something he shouldn't, so he asked, "What else did he say to you?"
"There's nothing else. Why did you break up?"
Hearing him say it was nothing, Zhou Jingzhan relaxed a little: "Do you really have to pry into my privacy?"
Chu Yunqi shut up consciously.
It was already time to get off work. Chu Yunqi sat in his chair with no intention of moving and was in a bad mood. Zhou Jingzhan realized this and asked with concern: "Did the operation go well?"
"No, it went pretty smoothly." Chu Yunqi pressed his solar plexus and said sadly, "It's just that the child's grandparents don't care much about their own granddaughter."
"How do you say that?"
"The child's pulmonary artery isn't developing well, so he'll probably need a second surgery, but his grandparents probably won't agree."
"Why? Wasn't the first surgery quite successful? Are you in financial difficulty?"
"I heard it was fine before, but ever since their daughter-in-law gave birth to their granddaughter, the old couple became dissatisfied and within a few years, they pressured their son and daughter-in-law into having a son. Unfortunately, their grandson also has heart disease and now lives away from home. The daughter-in-law is unemployed and hasn't recovered well from giving birth to two children in succession, leaving her with a chronic illness that keeps her going to the hospital all the time. The old couple are old, and their son is the only laborer in the family. With two children like this, life is not easy, and life is quite difficult. This time, the old couple refused to agree to their granddaughter's surgery, saying they wanted to save money for their grandson's medical treatment. In the end, their son threatened to kill himself before they agreed. I'm afraid a second surgery will be difficult to arrange."
Zhou Jingzhan's thoughts were a little slow to catch up, and he asked in confusion: "Why does my granddaughter need the consent of her grandparents for surgery? Wouldn't it be enough for the parents to sign?"
"That's the problem." Chu Yunqi sat up straight, a little angry: "The child's father has no say at home. He gives all his salary to his parents. How can he afford to pay for his daughter's medical treatment?"
"..." Zhou Jingzhan remained silent. He really didn't expect that the child's father would hand over his salary to his parents, nor did he expect that there are still people who favor boys over girls to this extent.
No matter how much he thought about it, it would be useless. In the end, he had to respect the decision of the patient's family. Chu Yunqi stopped thinking about those troubles, yawned, and lazily took out his mobile phone to see if there was any news.
He was looking at his phone anxiously, and after a while, he suddenly stood up.
Zhou Jingzhan glanced at him with disdain: "Where are you going so rashly?"
"Can't I just care about the patients?" Chu Yunqi retorted.
Zhou Jingzhan knew that the patient he was talking about was a little girl, so he reminded her unkindly: "Go and see if she's awake."
This reminded Chu Yunqi, so he didn't go to the ward, but went straight home. Before leaving, he asked Zhou Jingzhan: "Why haven't you returned yet?"
"Where are you going back to? I still have two operations to perform."
Chu Yunqi responded indifferently and left.
Zhou Jingzhan finished his work at nearly eleven o'clock in the evening. Without a car, he could only walk home. Fortunately, it was close to the hospital.
As soon as he went out, he saw a very eye-catching silver Ferrari 812 parked in front of the hospital. Then there was a horn sound, and as the car window lowered, Chu Yunqi's face appeared.
Zhou Jingzhan thought about it and it seemed that Chu Yunqi had bought a car like this.
"Director Zhou." Chu Yunqi called him.
Zhou Jingzhan's ears softened when he heard this: "What for?"
"I came here specially to take you home."
Unexpectedly, Chu Yunqi could actually do such a thing. Zhou Jingzhan found it novel and looked at him with a smile: "Are you trying to seduce me?"
Chu Yunqi snorted, "I heard Ji Hong say that you haven't cried or laughed in the hospital for all these years. Sure enough, you only smile when you see me."
Zhou Jingzhan looked down at him, the smile on his face gone. "Listen, we ended seven years ago, and we won't have a relationship beyond colleagues and friends in the future. You don't need to pick me up from get off work. Be careful of a car accident."
He turned around immediately after he finished speaking.
Chu Yunfei quickly stretched out his hand to stop him: "Would you refuse your friend's request to take you home?"
Zhou Jingzhan turned around and stared at him for two seconds, then got into the car.
Neither of them said anything out of line along the way. Zhou Jingzhan asked him from the perspective of a colleague, "How are your other work arrangements going after you come back?"
"No other arrangements, please."
Zhou Jingzhan didn't ask him why.
Before the two of them parted ways, Chu Yunqi asked, "Shall we go together tomorrow morning?"
"Forget it, it's not a good influence."
Chu Yunqi didn't insist anymore, and they both turned around and went home.
The next day, Chu Yunqi woke up at six o'clock as usual. The first thing he did after getting up was to open the door a crack so that he could see Zhou Jingzhan's movements.
At seven o'clock, Chu Yunqi heard the door open. He rushed out and bumped into Zhou Jingzhan. "Good morning."
Knowing that Chu Yunqi would not go out until the last minute, Zhou Jingzhan was helpless with him: "Good morning."
When they got downstairs, Chu Yunqi still had no intention of leaving. He explained, "I thought about it yesterday and felt that the car was really ostentatious, so I decided to walk with you today. From now on, you can drive me in your car."
Zhou Jingzhan glared at him and said, "I leave home at seven in the morning, and I may not get off work at the same time. You should drive yourself."
Chu Yunqi remained silent.
After arriving at the hospital, almost everyone in the department was present. Head nurse Tang Zhidan stopped Zhou Jingzhan and said, "Director Zhou, I heard that you and Dr. Tao broke up. Is that true? Are you okay?"
Zhou Jingzhan wasn't very surprised. As long as Ji Hong knew about it, the whole hospital would know about it. He smiled politely and said, "Yes, I'm fine. I'm doing fine."
"Oh." Tang Zhidan glanced at Chu Yunqi, nodded doubtfully, and then continued, "By the way, six interns from the lower-level hospital have arrived, one for each group. Your group includes the intern and a little girl. I've asked them to wait for you in your office."
Zhou Jingzhan had a headache and walked towards the office. Chu Yunqi was confused: "You have an office, why don't you use it?"
"Some family members like to discuss the condition with the doctor alone, and they often argue with each other. I don't like dealing with people."
Zhou Jingzhan suddenly stopped and asked, "Can you take charge of these two people?"
Chu Yunqi decisively refused.
"Chu Yunqi." Zhou Jingzhan looked at him expectantly.
"..." Chu Yunqi took a step back: "Let me think about it."
