Chapter 12 So Close shuhaige.net

In Niujin City, at the Fountain Hotel, Lei Ting and his family were adjusting to the time difference. Lei Ting didn't want to lie down anymore and wanted to go out for a walk. Just as he stepped out of the Fountain Hotel, he saw a large pastry shop by the roadside. Lei Ting thought the pink strawberry sign on it was very special. Lei Ting went in, and the waiter, Xiao Jiang, handed him a menu.

Xiao Jiang: "What would you like to try, sir?"

Thunder: "And bring a dessert too!"

Xiao Jiang: "Okay, please try our store's signature strawberry cream puff."

Lei Ting looked at the strawberry ice cream puff that was served. It looked so familiar. He thought An Ning had made it for him before. Lei Ting took a bite. The taste was so familiar. It must have been made by An Ning. An Ning must be making pastries here. Lei Ting immediately ate the whole puff, gave Xiao Jiang a tip, and, suppressing his excitement, asked Xiao Jiang to bring out the pastry chef.

Thunder: "These are very delicious pastries. May I meet your pastry chef?"

Xiao Jiang nodded, holding the tip, and then went into the kitchen. Lei Ting rubbed his hands together. He could see An Ning now. This must have been made by An Ning. No one else could make this pastry except An Ning. A big fat man came out of the kitchen. Lei Ting looked around. Was An Ning behind him? No, she wasn't! What was this fat man doing out here?

Xiao Jiang: "Master Jenny, this is a customer who really appreciates you. He ate all the strawberry cream puffs you made."

Jenny: "Hello, I'm the head chef here, you can call me Jenny."

Lei Ting was stunned. This was impossible. How could this person make the exact same pastry as An Ning? Lei Ting swallowed hard and said to him.

Thunder: "I'm looking for the person who makes this dessert."

Jenny: "I'm the one who made this dessert."

Thunder: "Impossible..."

Xiao Jiang: "Sir, sir, these are indeed pastries made by Master Jenny. Our pastry chefs here are Master Jenny and his two apprentices. These expensive pastries are all made by his own hands."

Thunder: "Where's the apprentice? Let me see the apprentice."

Xiao Jiang: "Those two went on a date with their girlfriends today and aren't here. Sir, who are you looking for?"

Thunder: "No, I was just curious who could make this dessert. Thank you, Jenny, this is your tip."

Lei Ting left a plate of tips and left. His broken English was unpleasant to Jenny, but Xiao Jiang was happy to receive several tips. Lei Ting was puzzled. How could this fat man make pastries that tasted exactly like An Ning's? Lei Ting pondered this as he walked into the hotel. In the hotel lobby, he thought for a moment, "Could this pastry shop be owned by An Ning?" Lei Ting checked, but found nothing. The pastry shop's customers all made reservations for Jenny; walk-in customers usually ate the pastries that were already made and displayed in the window. The more Lei Ting thought about it, the more confused he became.

Waiter: "Sir, do you need any assistance?"

Lei Ting looked up and saw a waiter standing in front of him asking if he needed help. Lei Ting looked around and, seeing no suspicious people, spoke to the waiter.

Thunder: "Do you guys have any channels to inquire about someone?"

Waiter: "There are many channels, such as black websites, bodyguard companies, or you can give them a tip and someone will tell you."

Thunder: "Then let me ask you, who owns that pastry shop with the pink sign?"

Waiter: "Master Jenny has always been in charge of the dim sum restaurant."

Thunder: "I know, I'll ask your boss, boss. Chairman, chairman."

The waiter pretended not to understand him. Lei Ting took out two tip bills, and the waiter's eyes lit up. He immediately understood what Lei Ting meant and leaned down to whisper to him.

Waiter: "The owner of the pastry shop is actually the bread king."

Thunder: "The King of Bread? What's his name?"

Waiter: "Anning."

Thunder: "Ah! She... um... I'm giving all of this to you. Where does she live?"

The waiter's eyes lit up with joy at the sight of the stack of banknotes. However, he suddenly remembered a legend circulating in Niujin City: the An family had intervened to protect their two children, prohibiting anyone from buying or selling information about them on the black market or revealing their details to others. Looking at the large amount of tips, the waiter felt he might have the life to take them but not the life to spend them, so he put down the tips and said...

Thunder: "Speak up! If you think it's not enough, I'll go get you more. Tell me now."

Waiter: "Sir, there's a legend circulating in Niujin City that we can't reveal information about the An family. Please don't make things difficult for me; I can't accept this money."

When Lei Ting learned that the waiter knew where An Ning was staying, he was so excited that his hands were trembling. The waiter was afraid to take the tip, so Lei Ting calmed himself down and spoke to him.

Thunder: "I'm a bread vendor. I'm here to buy some bread to sell at home. I admire the King of Bread and want to visit him. I'm not a bad person. Please tell me where she is. I don't want anyone to know that you told me."

Waiter: "I..."

Lei Ting: "I really do sell bread. I need to get some bread, which is why I asked for the address of the Bread King. Even if you didn't tell me, I would still know that the Bread King's name is An Ning. I'll go outside and shout that you're the one who told me the Bread King's name is An Ning."

Waiter: "No, no, you can't do that."

Seeing the waiter's fear, Lei Ting calmly stood up, slipped the tip into his pocket, and said very kindly to him...

Lei Ting: "Brother, a wise man submits to circumstances. Nobody knows you said it. Too many people in Niujin City know where she lives, I'm too lazy to ask them one by one. Even if the An family finds out, I'm just a bread seller. You can bring them business, there's nothing wrong with that, don't be afraid! Take the money and buy some nice clothes."
