Anning waited all night, not sleeping a wink. Just as dawn broke, Leiting finally returned. He entered the house, and Anning, seeing him, tried to get up, but Leiting's cold gaze made her decide it was best not to. As Leiting approached the bed, she realized he had been drinking and was still unsteady on his feet. Anning handed him a cool towel and helped him wipe his face. Leiting watched Anning's attentive care without saying a word. Anning, however, was worried about where Leiting had been the night before and whether his drinking had caused business problems, so she couldn't help but ask.
Anning: "Where did you go?"
Thunder: "Going drinking."
Anning: "You don't like drinking, what's wrong? What happened...?"
Thunder: "None of your business."
Lei Ting brushed aside An Ning's hand and the towel that were wiping his face, turned over, and An Ning sighed. After a pause, she decided to tell Lei Ting.
Anning: "I'm pregnant."
Upon hearing this, Lei Ting immediately turned to look at An Ning. The effects of the night's drinking had completely worn off. Lei Ting sat up and looked at An Ning. An Ning wasn't sure if Lei Ting was happy or what, but his expression was definitely off. Neither of them spoke. After a moment, Lei Ting spoke.
Thunder: "Do Mom and Dad know? Do Grandpa and Grandma know?"
Anning: "I don't know. I know it's just you and me at home."
Thunder: "Great..."
Anning thought Leiting was happy about her pregnancy, so she immediately beamed and chatted happily with him. But Leiting's next words made Anning tremble with fear.
Anning: "Our first baby would be great, of course!"
Thunder: "I mean, it's great that they don't know, Anning, this child can't be kept..."
An Ning met Lei Ting's gaze. Lei Ting looked at her coldly. An Ning couldn't believe her ears; these words actually came from Lei Ting's mouth. An Ning looked at the serious Lei Ting in disbelief, repeatedly asking why.
Anning: "Why? This is the fruit of our love. It's our first child."
Thunder: "We can't accept this. Let's fight."
An Ning: "What? Lei Ting, what are you saying? This is your child!"
Thunder: "I've already hit him, I don't want it."
Lei Ting's face suddenly darkened, and his chilling aura frightened An Ning so much that she clutched her stomach and backed away, fearing what Lei Ting might do to her. At the same time, tears streamed down An Ning's face as she asked Lei Ting in disbelief.
An Ning: "Why...why~"
Thunder: "We can't accept this."
Anning couldn't calm down at this moment. She thought Leiting was in a bad mood, which was why he lost his temper at the ceremony. She thought that her pregnancy would make Leiting feel better. Anning never expected that Leiting would not want the child the first time he learned that the child was coming.
Anning: "Why..."
An Ning was still wondering why when Lei Ting's phone rang. Lei Ting picked it up, and his expression softened considerably as he looked at the phone. An Ning wanted to know what was on the phone, but the questions in her mind remained. She clutched her stomach and backed away, almost reaching the door. Lei Ting put down his phone and looked at her coldly.
Thunder: "Get dressed, let's go to the hospital."
An Ning: "No, you can't..."
An Ning stepped back while making a resisting motion. Lei Ting knew there were some things he had to tell An Ning, otherwise she definitely wouldn't cooperate with him and abort the child.
Thunder: "Jasmine got divorced. I was with her last night."
Upon hearing this, An Ning quickly recalled the only time in the two years of her marriage to Lei Ting that Lei Ting had drunk too much and lay in her arms calling out "Jasmine." An Ning didn't know if "Jasmine" referred to a flower or something else; she never asked, and Lei Ting never said. An Ning mentally reviewed the moments they had shared over the past two years. If Lei Ting had never truly let go of "Jasmine," then what did those two years with her mean? What did everything else mean? Lei Ting looked at An Ning, who was shaking her head, and continued.
Thunder: "I'm sorry, I don't love you, and I can't let you have my child."
An Ning: "Two years...two years...you haven't loved me even a little bit, have you?"
Thunder: "I can't let go of Jasmine in my heart."
An Ning: "Then what about my two years? What about them...?"
Thunder: "If you're willing, we can still be husband and wife, but I have to take responsibility for Jasmine."
Hearing Lei Ting's words, An Ning staggered, her legs giving way. She couldn't believe that this seemingly perfect marriage, a match made in heaven, was built on Lei Ting's deception. An Ning remained silent, her eyes fixed on Lei Ting in disbelief. Lei Ting, already dressed, grabbed An Ning's hand and led her to the car. An Ning's mind was filled with Lei Ting's words, "I don't love you. I haven't loved you for two years." She was completely unaware that Lei Ting had already driven her to the city hospital.
Lei Ting drove her to the hospital, grabbing An Ning's arm. An Ning walked blankly behind him, then lay blankly on the operating table. Only when she felt pain in her lower body did An Ning come to her senses. The medical lights flickered above An Ning's head, and cold forceps moved through her body. An Ning clutched the medical sheet, looking at everything before her, knowing that she couldn't save her child. An Ning shed a single tear and didn't say a word on the operating table.
The doctor placed a gestational sac into a beaker, and the nurse put on her sleeping pants. They helped Anning off the operating table and placed her in a VIP ward. The nurse told her that a butler would come to pick her up, and that the man who brought her had just received a phone call and left. Anning didn't say anything, sitting in the ward until the butler arrived. The butler protected her, and Anning got into the butler's car. Seeing Anning's pale face in the ward and learning it was a maternity ward, the butler felt uneasy. After taking Anning home, the butler immediately called Yu Li, learning that Anning had returned from the maternity hospital. Yu Li and Lei Zhenyu rushed from their company to the residence.
