The Doss's first wave of attack was thus easily repelled.

But Bai Qi and Lin Mo both knew that this was just a probing attack by the Dos people, their purpose being to find out the strength of the Great Xia garrison.

Lin Mo looked around. The thunder had gradually receded, but lightning was still raging over the southern grasslands.

Strong gusts of wind blew in from the north again, tearing apart the thick clouds in the sky and allowing the stars to peek out. The setting moon cast its golden light through the gaps in the clouds and into the camp.

"Your Highness, the stone wall won't hold for long!" Qin Zhixing said, looking at the stone wall.

The east wall was bent by the impact, and cracks have appeared in many places.

"And look, there's already a whole group of Dos people gathering at the entrance."

Lin Mo looked up and saw arrows whistling towards him.

"Watch out!" he shouted a warning. "Xu Chu, you idiot, get out of the way!"

Xu Chu hurriedly ran behind a rock to hide, and the arrow struck the rock next to him.

As soon as one volley of arrows stopped, another volley arrived.

"Hanhan, come back quickly, they're attacking again!" Lin Mo shouted.

"What's there to be afraid of!" Xu Chu was completely unconvinced.

"I told you to come back, didn't you hear me!" Lin Mo said anxiously.

Upon hearing this, Xu Chu turned around unhappily, preparing to return.

Just then, dozens of Dos people lying on the ground suddenly jumped up and followed silently behind.

"Hey, be careful!" Lin Mo shouted anxiously.

The next second, two Dos people tackled Xu Chu and pinned him to the ground.

"Damn those Dos people, they're faking their deaths!" Xu Chu roared.

He tried his best to push the Dos people off him, but more and more enemies surrounded him, and no matter how strong Xu Chu was, it was to no avail.

At the critical moment, a figure that had gone unnoticed before leaped out of the darkness and shouted hoarsely, "General Xu Chu, I've come to save you!"

The sky had become very clear, and the slowly setting moon emitted a dazzling light, but this light made Lin Mo frown.

Under the moonlight, they could see the number of enemies.

A vast, densely packed mass of people, countless of them receiving intravenous infusions. And in the distant grasslands, even more enemy troops are gathering.

Soon after, the Dos people intensified their attack on the city gates, with Dos warriors pounding the stone walls like a raging tide. They crowded the open space in front of the gates, and the endless stream of enemies kept the Xia soldiers busy.

The gate was piled high with corpses, but the enemy swarmed in as if they didn't care.

The warriors of the Great Xia were beginning to feel tired; they had almost run out of arrows.

Suddenly, with a loud "boom," the stone wall on the east side collapsed!

"Your Highness, these Dos people have been feigning an attack on the main gate!" Qin Zhixing said, "while in reality, they've been sending their main force to attack the east under the cover of night!"

Due to its terrain, Tianyue Mountain blocked the moonlight, making the East Gate completely dark.

Within Dos's army, someone had apparently noticed this detail and secretly broke open the eastern stone wall.

But Lin Mo remained completely calm. He twitched his lips slightly and said, "Let them attack!"

Upon hearing this, Bai Qi waved his hand, ordering all the Xia soldiers guarding the east side to withdraw.

This move completely baffled Qin Zhixing and Guo Wenlong.

"Your Highness, what's wrong?"

Lin Mo smiled faintly, "Next, I'll show you what a Macedonian phalanx really is!"

Just as they were talking, another horn sounded.

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh," a low and drawn-out wail, like a cold wind from the north, sending chills down one's spine.

As the bugle call faded, the sound of horses' hooves filled the void.

Then, a large group of dark figures surged into the breach.

Those were the troops of Doth chieftain Zoren, who was leading a squad of elite Doth light cavalry in a wedge formation, charging out from the eastern gap.

"Form ranks!" Lin Mo shouted. "Soldiers, prepare to meet the enemy!"

The next second, the soldiers of the Great Xia formed a Macedonian square and raised their six-meter-long spears high.

"What? What is this?" Zhuolun, who was at the forefront, froze. He had never seen anything like this in his life.

The Macedonian pike formation is famous not for how each soldier killed the enemy, so whether it was by stabbing or slinging is irrelevant.

Importantly, the long spear formation, composed of dozens or even hundreds of men tightly packed together, resembled an unbreakable hedgehog, making it impossible for the troops in front to attack.

At this moment, the soldiers of Great Xia were like steel hedgehogs with barbs, hiding behind tall iron shields painted with the eight-clawed golden dragon of Great Xia, ready for battle.

There was no moonlight shining from the east, but the Dos people saw it, and Lin Mo saw it too.

The Dos people devised a plan to feign an attack on the main gate, then use their main force to destroy the stone wall, attempting to break through the Great Xia's defenses from the east.
