Chapter 16 Night Dou

Qin Nan, like a frightened bird, huddled on the sofa, hugging the Totoro cat and holding a tablet, intently watching the surrounding movements. After a long time, nothing happened.

The totoro in Qin Nan's arms twitched its whiskers and gnawed on freeze-dried food, but its small eyes revealed a hint of disdain. There was something outside the door just now, but he chased it away. It was a very low-level creature and it was somewhat resentful.

He originally intended to eliminate it, but lost track of it while chasing it. Totoro checked the house but found nothing, so he set up barriers in every room of the house so that he would know immediately if anything touched them.

Qin Nan calmed down for a while. Even though there was nothing wrong, he was still very scared. It was all Bai Hao's fault! He scared him for no reason. There were probably rats. He would wait for Bai Hao to come back and discuss whether to get a cat to keep.

Qin Nan looked at the tablet in his hand. He had accumulated quite a few items in his shopping cart. There were a few pieces of clothing he was waiting for Bai Hao to come back so he could ask if Bai Hao liked them and then place an order for them all at once.

At this moment, Qin Nan could no longer concentrate on shopping. After thinking it over and over again, Qin Nan opened the video player, found SpongeBob SquarePants, and watched it with Totoro while eating salad.

Before he knew it, it was almost midnight. Qin Nan didn't dare to take the tortoise upstairs to sleep. He could sleep before because Bai Hao was there, and having someone with him meant he wasn't afraid of anything. But now that he was all alone, he was really scared.

He needs to have something else to distract him in a couple of days so that he can forget what Yang Zizhong said before he can return to normal.

The minute hand pointed to twelve o'clock, and suddenly the wind picked up, rattling the windows. Qin Nan felt that the weather had changed, but luckily the doors and windows had been closed beforehand.

But the next moment, Qin Nan stared at the black figure outside the window, his face pale. He was certain that it was not Bai Hao, but if it wasn't Bai Hao, then who was it? There was no one else!

The Totoro in Qin Nan's arms put down the last freeze-dried strawberry. Its little eyes flashed with ferocity. He thought it was just a small fry, but it turned out to be a deep-seated creature. Its resentment was far greater than that of the little thing before. This one might not be easy to deal with.

His strength has been largely sealed. Although he can win, he may need to revert to his original form.

Totoro looked up at Qin Nan. If he were to revert to his original form, he would probably scare Qin Nan half to death before he even started fighting that thing outside. He was conflicted!

As Qin Nan watched the figure outside the window getting closer and closer, his heart jumped into his throat, his legs went weak and he was on the verge of tears. He was truly terrified of ghosts!

Just as the figure was about to reach the window, Qin Nan felt a sharp pain in her neck and fainted.

The Totoro that was originally in Qin Nan's arms disappeared, and the figure outside the window suddenly retreated, while a huge cloud of thick black smoke appeared in the sky above the courtyard.

A gigantic dragon head emerged from the smoke, its gaping maw lunging at the figure. The figure hastily dodged, transforming into a gust of wind to escape, while the dragon head and smoke relentlessly pursued, the two wrestling and entangled together.

If Qin Nan were still awake, he would see smoke billowing above his house, the wind howling, like a night march, with the sound of clashing swords and the air filled with murderous intent!

Finally, the shadowy wind that the figure transformed into diminished, and it managed to escape through a crack in the dragon head's smoke, disappearing into the well without a trace.

The dragon head stared with its golden pupils, tilted its head to look at the well platform, and was about to exhale and seal it when Bai Hao's voice suddenly came from nowhere.

Bai Hao: [Keep it; it'll be useful when I get back.]

Upon hearing this, the dragon head shrank back into the smoke, then transformed into a small ball and flashed back to Qin Nan's side. It then transformed back into a憨厚呆萌 (honest and adorable) fat Totoro, picked up the freeze-dried strawberries that had been thrown on the table, and ate them.

In the deserted house, Qin Nan was walking along the corridor with a lamp in her hand when she suddenly heard faint crying. Qin Nan stopped in surprise, but only paused for a moment before continuing to walk forward.

Qin Nan tried desperately to stop, but her body wouldn't obey her! In her panic, she suddenly felt a heavy tightness in her chest, along with some pain, and the scene before her eyes slowly faded and disappeared.

When Qin Nan opened his eyes, he saw Totoro patting him on the chest with its paws. No wonder he felt suffocated and a little pained. Fortunately, Totoro didn't run around on him, or he might have been crushed to death.

Qin Nan got up in a daze, only to find herself asleep on the sofa. As her mind slowly cleared, Qin Nan felt a chill run through her body. She trembled as she hugged the Totoro, then turned to look at the window. The glass was clean, and the night outside was deep, with a bright moon and few stars, creating a very peaceful scene.

Qin Nan was somewhat bewildered. No, he hadn't seen anything... Could it be a dream? This dream was terrifying!

Qin Nan glanced at the clock on the wall; it was almost four o'clock. Dawn would break in two or three hours. He was wide awake. He plugged in his tablet to charge and switched to watching Tom and Jerry, watching until dawn.

The next day at noon, Bai Hao returned home and walked into the backyard. As soon as he opened the door, he saw Qin Nan, who looked haggard and had dark circles under her eyes, listlessly cooking in the kitchen. She seemed not to have expected Bai Hao to come back. She only cooked one dish, and when she saw Bai Hao, she relaxed and fell asleep.

Bai Hao quickly stepped forward to catch Qin Nan, carried him to the sofa, and said that if he put him upstairs, he would still be afraid when he woke up, but if he put him downstairs, Bai Hao could eat something and sit next to him, so he wouldn't be too scared when he woke up.

Furthermore, Bai Hao made a new discovery: when Qin Nan is asleep or unconscious, Bai Hao is not affected by Qin Nan, which is why he was able to stop the Totoro in time last night.

After eating the meal Qin Nan left behind, Bai Hao discovered osmanthus sugar and osmanthus cakes. He smiled and took them out to eat.

Qin Nan woke up in the evening and took a nap. She felt much better after that. She had stayed up all night and couldn't fall asleep in the morning. She was still tense until Bai Hao came back and she finally felt at ease and fell asleep.

"Awake?" Bai Hao's voice rang out from behind.

Qin Nan turned to look at Bai Hao, slowly coming to her senses, "Boss, you're back? How did things go?"
