Chapter 132 Urging Marriage

Ye Zhi stood under the dim streetlights at the airport and posted the update on her WeChat Moments. Then she asked me, "What did you mean when you said you were dominating my WeChat Moments?"

"You only have a few posts on your WeChat Moments, see how many of them are related to me."

She glanced at it, then looked as if she had suddenly realized something.

That's exactly right. The photo in the post I just shared was one I took for her, while in the one Yang Sisi "forced" me to share, I was the male protagonist in the photo. So, I basically took over her WeChat Moments.

I smiled and said to her, "If you don't want my WeChat Moments to be dominated by me, remember to post more updates in the future."

Ye Zhi paused for a moment, then nodded at me. I felt that people's nature is hard to change, so she was probably just being polite. I also had an obligation to help her find the joy in posting on social media. So, I had her sit on a chair under a streetlamp and said to her, "Let's see if anyone comments on this post."

Ye Zhi moved her phone closer to me, and then we looked at it together...

A few seconds later, someone left a comment under the post... and the comments were surprisingly consistent, mostly praising Ye Zhi for being incredibly beautiful; of course, there was also a small number of people who were shocked that Ye Zhi posted her photos on her WeChat Moments.

I asked Ye Zhi, "Don't you find these comments quite interesting?"

Ye Zhi nodded, then pointed to a profile picture and said to me, "This person works in the technical field at our company. He's usually quite taciturn, but I didn't expect him to be so humorous when replying to his WeChat Moments!"

"Yes, WeChat Moments is a big melting pot, and everyone is willing to show another side of themselves in this melting pot... Let me put it this way, posting more on WeChat Moments will help you understand a person more comprehensively... Actually, it does have its benefits."

As they were talking, another comment appeared under Ye Zhi's post, and it was posted by Yang Sisi. She asked Ye Zhi, "Isn't this the airport in Dali?...Who took this photo for you?"

Ye Zhi was embarrassed at first, then asked me, "You've talked so much about the benefits of posting on WeChat Moments, so what about this?"

I was a little embarrassed, so I remained silent for a while before replying, "I guess this counts as a hassle."

Should I go back?

"No need. As the owner of this WeChat Moments, you have the right to ignore some malicious replies."

"If Sisi asks, I'll say you taught me to do it this way."

"I never knew you'd resort to such despicable tactics as shifting blame!"

Ye Zhi shrugged and replied, "I have to shift the blame to you because you're the one who encouraged me to post it on WeChat Moments... You need to be a man who takes responsibility for his actions!"

...

After the discussion about posting on WeChat Moments ended, I drove Ye Zhi away from the airport. At her request, I took her to the ancient city, where she had booked a hotel for the night.

After leaving her luggage at the hotel, we found a small teppanyaki restaurant in the old town and had dinner there. Eating teppanyaki was my idea, because if we ran into a conversation, we could just pick at the food ourselves, which would prevent any awkwardness.

In this respect, I know Ye Zhi too well. She is a woman who is never good at initiating conversations, so a self-service style of teppanyaki is perfect for the two of us.

The waiters brought the dishes over one after another. I didn't expect Ye Zhi to do anything, so I put the dishes on the hot plate myself, and then stir-fried them while brushing on the oil.

After preparing a dish, I placed it in Ye Zhi's bowl before asking her, "You said you were going to give me a gift, what is it?"

"I'd like to keep you in suspense for now."

"That must be a great gift."

Ye Zhi shook her head and then focused her attention on the boiler that was emitting fumes. I also fell into silence with her. At this moment, the benefits of eating teppanyaki became apparent. I added some more vegetables to the pot and started stir-frying them. I didn't feel awkward because we had nothing to talk about.

...

Just then, my phone rang. This time it was Lao Mi calling, which surprised me a bit. I gestured to Ye Zhi, then walked to a corner and answered the call.

I asked Old Mi, "Is something wrong, Dad?"

"It's nothing... I just wanted to let you know that I sent you a few pounds of cured meat. I know you're not coming home for the New Year again this year, so I thought you could have something with a festive feel in Dali."

I didn't actually say "thank you" to Lao Mi, so I just hummed in response, but the gratitude I felt was genuine.

As usual, Old Mi asked me, "How's business at the inn lately?"

"It's been great all along, so you don't need to worry... This inn won't lose money!"

"I'm not worried about your inn, I just want to remind you... once the inn is settled, you should start thinking about your life's important matters. You're another year older after the New Year, aren't you worried at all?"

"They're getting along right now!"

"You just don't have a sense of crisis when you do things... Otherwise, why would Lu Jia stop being with you? At the right time, take the initiative to mention your plans to her and let her know that you care about her."

"Dad, I'm really afraid of you lecturing me like this!"

"Then you should put our minds at ease... Can you give us a definite answer on when you plan to get married?"
