If you knew who my wife was, you’d also think I was lucky to be alive. This is the only summary Yu Zou has for his three years of marriage. Originally, he was forced by his near-dead father to fu...
Burning, and then burning.
Explosions rang out one after another, and Yu Zou rushed to the hall in a panic.
The message of safety between the two ended at the lobby. The lobby was empty, the broken display screen teetering on the verge of collapse, and ice and water remaining in the middle of the floor. Yu Zou, in a moment of quick thinking, took off his coat, grabbed one sleeve, and threw it next to the ice sculpture. After the coat had absorbed enough water, he picked it up and hurried towards the emergency room.
Pushing open the door, there was another person in the emergency room, with several hideous red marks on his flawless white back. He turned around on guard the moment he heard the sound, but relaxed the moment he saw Yu Zou alone.
He was about to speak when Yu Zou stopped him. Yu Zou rummaged through drawers and found a box, put on gloves, wrung out the water from his wet clothes, then poured in a whole box of Vaseline. He quickly stirred it with a stick-shaped object he could find, explaining, "All the lifebuoys are filled with highly absorbent ammonium nitrate. They didn't expect us to get out alive, but…"
Yu Zou tilted his head, raised an eyebrow, and smiled as he had when they first met: "I am Yu Zou. There is nothing I cannot do. This will form an insulation layer, allowing us to live a few more minutes. Just bear with it."
Yu Zou applied the mixture to Du Pianjian's waist, abdomen, and arms. Seeing the gauze on his wrist, she paused for a moment, then went behind him and applied the mixture to his back: "How did you get hurt?"
Du Pianjian smeared off the insulation layer himself and asked in return, "Have you seen anyone who looks like me?"
Without hesitation, Yu Zou replied, "Looks a lot like you?"
“Hmm.” Du Pianjian lowered his eyes. “He was the one who told Fang Bushenghere the news.”
Yu Zou walked around to Du Pianjian and couldn't help but laugh. He smeared the mixture on Du Pianjian's face, but Du Pianjian slapped his hand away and glared at him. Yu Zou said, "Your face is the most important thing. You can't get burned."
As if confirming Yu Zou's words, the explosion reached this place, shaking even the emergency room. The two women had to support each other to avoid falling. Seeing that the last bit of life was about to fall on her, Du Pianjian asked, "And you?"
“The insulation layer is transparent after it forms; I applied it before you arrived.” He pointed to the trash can in the corner, indicating that there were his used items there. Without waiting for Du Pianjian to examine it carefully, Yu Zou pulled him outside.
The ship had been split in two, the burning section blazing skyward, while the other slowly sank. Yu Zou gripped Du Pianjian's right hand tightly, running frantically through the fire-ravaged corridor, trying to reach the ship a second before the explosion.
An ominous cracking sound came from above, and a red-hot steel frame, accompanied by sparks, crashed down. Seeing that there was no time to dodge, Yu Zou pulled Du Pianjian under himself, his left arm forcefully blocking the blow, his back arching to protect Du Pianjian.
The heavy impact was insignificant at this point; fortunately, the remaining weight could still bear the weight. Yu Zou gritted his teeth and pushed it to the other side in one go, while pushing Du Pianjian forward with his right hand and running quickly.
The whistling wind mingled with the distant sounds of machinery as the two reached the far end of the deck, flames just behind them. The firelight illuminated Du Pianjian's eyes, and the two, panting heavily, gradually calmed down as they looked at each other.
Both her breaths and exhalations were at 100 degrees Celsius. Du Pianjian's eyes crinkled as she said, "Guess."
Yu Zou's gaze shifted for a moment, a mere second of hesitation, before he reached out and pressed Du Pianjian's neck towards him, his tongue barely touching hers. His bracelet activated its red alarm. His mouth was filled with the taste of smoke and fire. Yu Zou whispered, "I hope you're the next one with more guts than me."
Before Du Pianjian could react, he felt dizzy and an unknown force pushed him away rapidly. The exploding flames burst through the entire ship, briefly turning the steel behemoth into the sun in the sea. Yu Zou in his eyes grew smaller and smaller, gradually becoming a black dot in the flames.
Until it can no longer be seen.
He wanted to swim back immediately, but the surging waves pushed him even further away.
Du Pianjian felt as if his heart had exploded, the shards of which pierced him countless times. He couldn't even remember how he was rescued, how he got into the hospital, or how he got home.
He awaited news, hoping for a miracle, but only felt despair. The ship was no longer whole, let alone a mortal body.
All that could be found was a necklace, with a blank bookmark next to the hyacinth. Even when held in the palm of my hand, I couldn't feel its presence; only my lips felt numb, and the lingering warmth from the burning necklace grew stronger with time.
He stared intently at the small black-and-white photo on the tombstone, wanting to reach out and touch the face; the pale, gray eyes seemed to be calling to him.
An explosion, another explosion, exploded in his mind.
Burn, and burn on, fueled by his blood.
The notarized will was made public after Yu Zou's death, unconditionally transferring all of Yu Long's shares and core assets to Du Pianjian. Naturally, Du Pianjian resigned from the orchestra, took over Yu Long, and quickly transformed from Teacher Du to President Du, his style of handling affairs being exactly the same as Yu Zou's.
All eyes were focused on Du Pianjian like never before. Before the seven-day mourning period was over, covetous gazes were all on this beautiful, wealthy Omega who was in a vulnerable period after losing his husband. He was even more sought after than before his marriage, which was naturally partly due to his surprisingly docile behavior after the marriage.
Unfortunately, Du Pianjian was not there to protect Yu Long.
He wanted to destroy everything that Yu Zou cherished during his lifetime; the more he valued something, the more he would destroy it first!
He will drive the burning vehicle and plunge it into the sea.
During the day, everything is normal. He is a strong and serious leader of the Long family. At night, he flashes back to the yacht and destroys everything in the house where they used to live together. The carefully tended flower garden is broken and tattered along with the tombstone. His beloved collections are turned into worthless broken pieces. Even Yi Song's core can no longer start one night. Until it completely crashes, Yi Song still dutifully reminds Du Pianjian to take care of his health and listens to his repeated accusations.
"You actually died for someone who had nothing to do with you?"
"Since you care so much, I'll destroy it all! Everything you care about, I'll destroy it all!"
How could anything be more important to you than me?
"I'm going to destroy everything you care about. Who told you to die?"
“Mom, Ji Huisheng, He Honghan, Shi Nao, and me.”
The clock ticked silently as He Honghan finished her work as usual and walked briskly to her car.
The setting sun cast long shadows, headlights flashed, engines started, and the car quickly merged into the traffic. Similar cars passed each other or missed each other. At another traffic light, He Honghan unconsciously checked the rearview mirror again.
A gray sedan was behind his car; this was the sixth time he had seen one this month.
The light turned green, and the gray car in the rearview mirror neither overtook nor changed lanes, but simply stayed close behind his car, maintaining a precise distance. No matter how much He Honghan accelerated or changed lanes, he couldn't shake off that distance.
He Honghan gripped the control lever, and after a minute of thought, suddenly changed lanes and drove onto a side road. After another ten kilometers, they would reach an area with no speed limit.
The darkening sky was a silent whistle, the pursuit turned into a race, the roar of the engine was like the dying gasps of a patient, and the tires screeching against the road were another explosion.
Clearly, the pursuer was more reckless than the pursued. On a narrow bend, He Honghan slowed down slightly, and the gray car immediately accelerated and overtook him, skidding close to his body. At such close range, He Honghan's side profile was sliced off by a knife.
Then, without stopping, the gray car roared and sped away into the deepening night.
He Honghan turned on his hazard lights and parked the car on the side of the emergency lane. His hands, gripping the steering wheel, trembled uncontrollably, yet he held on tightly. He was covered in cold sweat, and only now did he break out in a cold sweat. His heart was pounding wildly in his chest, and he was gasping for breath, yet he still felt like he was about to die.
Looking up at the front and back of the car, only the streetlights stood silently on the empty road.
He Honghan leaned back in his chair, calculating how much this accident would ease his conscience and what few days of peace it would buy him. He was filled with resentment. He pulled a SIM card from his storage compartment, inserted it into his phone, and dialed the only number on it. The dial tone sounded, and it took ten seconds to connect. Before the person on the other end could speak, He Honghan loudly complained, "Your wife is completely insane! She's trying to kill her deceased husband's friends! Is that right?"
"Watch your wording, it's ex-wife."
"He's been keeping a close eye on me lately, so I'd better not go see you."
"Um."
"Hmm? Just hmm? No other advice for me? Like how to survive under him for three years like you did?"
A sigh came from the other end, followed by silence.
He Honghan was completely out of options and could only say, "Forget it, I'll just have to pray for my own good luck. You take good care of your injury."
Meanwhile, Shi Nao called back and, as usual, reported on the progress: "I've fixed the loophole in the new identity. Are you sure you want to come back and start working?"
"You still dare to return to Shoushu?"
"We can't just let Yulong swallow up Jushi Technology."
Why would he do that?
He Honghan clicked her tongue: "He has projected and attributed it to us in a morbid way. You and I have both been classified as Yu Zou's 'accomplices'. Yu Zou is dead, so of course we, as his accomplices, cannot live."
"Then what should we do?"
“He hit me today. It seems this pattern of behavior won’t stop; it will only escalate. Conventional persuasion and treatment are pointless now. Yu Zou, you absolutely cannot be near him, and don’t even think about coming back to work. And, if necessary, I will provide a professional diagnosis and send him to the Sixth Hospital.”
After he finished speaking, all three parties fell silent.
He Honghan tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, and the electrical sound finally gave a different answer: "Protect yourselves."
He Honghan whistled and said with relief, "Yu Zou, you've finally come to your senses." Then she started the car, turned around and headed towards the city, and began to spout nonsense again, "There are plenty of fish in the sea. I think the Omega nurse who takes care of you is quite interested in you. Nurse, what a gentle and lovely profession. You even saved him when he was lost when you were little, what a coincidence."
Yu Zou, who was going through a divorce, ran away to the suburbs because of her bad mood. She happened to meet a little boy hiding in a slide in an abandoned park. She just asked him a few questions, whether he was lost, and whether he should call the police. She was worried that he was hungry and bought him a bottle of soda. It was hardly a rescue.
"What help?"
“They’ve always remembered it. They still keep the soda bottle cap you gave them back then. You may not realize it, but they do.”
"What a coincidence! How did you recognize me?"
Your image keeps becoming clear in my memory.
"Give it to me..."
"Give it to me again? Forget it."
"roll."
