If you knew who my wife was, you’d also think I was lucky to be alive. This is the only summary Yu Zou has for his three years of marriage. Originally, he was forced by his near-dead father to fu...
Unable to be gentle and cute
The barrier gate lifted, and the Porsche slowly drove in.
When the elevator reached the fifth floor and opened, Yu Zou walked to the right, head down replying to work messages, not looking up once the entire time. As if he were in his own home, he went straight to the mental health specialist's office, pushed open the door, sat down, and immediately started yelling, "Now you have to make an appointment to see me, is that right? Give me back my 16 yuan appointment fee!"
A head so round it could be used as a textbook popped out from behind the computer, chuckling lewdly: "You're so rich, why would you care about this little thing?"
The doctor kicked off with his long legs, sliding his office chair in front of the person. He then tucked a ballpoint pen into the left breast pocket of his white coat, where two lines of text were embroidered in black thread: "He Honghan" in large characters and "Department of Psychiatry, Sixth Hospital of the Capital Medical University" in smaller characters.
"How was it?" he asked mysteriously.
"The rumors are all true." Yu Zou also leaned in, his pupils trembling, his face filled with terror as he relayed the information, "When I went to Chi Hengxun's house, the first floor was like a ruin. Furniture was overturned all over the floor, the greenery was cut off, and the finger-thick glass screen was shattered like your morality. Guess what the murder weapon was?"
He Honghan protected her wrist with her left hand, made an "V" sign with her right hand, pointed her index finger upward, and gently blew a breath.
Yu Zou shook his index finger, denying his naive idea, and solemnly said, "The golf club is even stuck in the body."
The two straightened up as they looked at each other, and saw the shock in each other's eyes.
"Completed such a massive project independently?" He Hong clapped three times to express his blessing. "You're lucky, kid. From now on, I'm willing to treat you for free. Save your registration fee for the Fifth Hospital next door."
The Fifth Hospital of the Capital Medical University has the best surgical department and the fastest ambulances in the city.
Yu Zou clenched his fist as if making a vow, and said firmly, "The goal has changed from cooperating with him to surviving." Then, dejected, he asked, "Is there really no possibility of a full recovery?"
He Honghan coughed twice, stomped back to his computer, and adopted a professional attitude: "Not yet. Most of them are just barely behaving like normal people after achieving self-consistency, having learned to hide the fuse of the bomb, but it will still happen, bang!"
He Honghan made an explosion gesture, and Yu Zou slowly leaned back in his chair, weakly kicking the chair and turning around: "How scary. He's completely different from my ideal type. Chi Hengxun's glands are being suppressed and bleeding profusely. If he were to suppress me, I'd probably be in even worse shape."
"Give up, you're destined to never have a gentle and lovely wife in this lifetime."
"Stop cursing me."
What was the trigger?
“Chi Hengxun pulled his necklace. I didn’t see him, and I don’t know what the necklace looked like.”
He Honghan nodded, her fingers tapping on the keyboard to update the profile, which was based on the information Yu Zou had collected each time: "Very good, PTSD, IED, BPD, choose one."
"Could you say something I can understand?"
"Simply put, he has a serious psychological disorder and cannot regulate his emotions, which leads to uncontrollable behavior. This is consistent with the behavior you mentioned in junior and senior high school and the theory I just mentioned. It's quite typical. To put it even more simply, it's a fight that could break out at any moment."
After listening, Yu Zou's back hunched even more, he slid off the chair, and looked up at the ceiling in dejection.
Taking over the matter with Long Ming was clearly meant to make him take the blame, but he couldn't understand why this marriage agreement was worth marrying—what was so special about a university music teacher?
Shao Yuan explained, "He and you are 90% compatible."
When the gene lineage matching data file was pushed over, Yu Zou didn't even look at it, and asked in return, "If it's this high compared to me, then it won't be low compared to Shao Jinfeng."
"Yes, so he was originally going to marry your brother, but now it's yours. After all, the other party wants to marry the heir of Yulong."
Yu Zou, of course, wouldn't believe his one-sided story and immediately began collecting information on Du Pianjian. What he found was astonishing: Du Pianjian had a history of mental illness and an impressive resume; no wonder the womanizing Shao Jinfeng had given up on her.
So Yu Zou changed his approach. Could it be that Du Pianjian's father had something on Shao Yuan? But he couldn't understand why Shao Yuan would want the title of an heir who was so poor he could see his future laid out before him, instead of cashing in on that information.
He Honghan confidently saved the diagnosis results with her left hand, stretched, and let her gossipy nature shine through. She moved over to Yu Zou and asked, "What does your wife look like? Let me see."
"Watch your words, Director He. It's not my wife."
Yu Zou pulled up a video on his phone, and He Honghan watched it while holding his hand, exclaiming, "Wow! She's so pretty! Why are you so suspicious? Maybe she's just having some financial difficulties and has no choice but to find a sugar daddy. Just give her the money and that's it."
"Doesn't seem like it. They didn't ask me for cash, and besides, I haven't seen them yet!"
"What is that? Do you think it's easy to bow down for five pecks of rice? Do you think I don't want to be a sugar daddy? That damned pride is like a ghost that I can't get rid of!" He Honghan gritted her teeth, clenched her right fist and slammed it hard on the table, making a barely audible sound. After all, the table was public property and she would have to pay for it if she broke it.
"If only it were just about the money." The video had finished playing and was now stuck on the replay screen. Yu Zou sighed softly.
"So what? You're just a well-fed man who doesn't know the hunger of a starving man. Don't give it to me!"
"Here you go." Yu Zou was puzzled. Did you think it was something good?
"Okay, recording is complete." He Honghan happily paused the recording on her phone, renamed it "Yu Zou's Wife," and saved it.
Yu Zou remained silent for a long time before saying, "He Honghan, you deserve much credit for my suspicions."
"I can't rely on a sugar daddy, but I can definitely screw over my brothers." He Honghan waved her phone, winked at him, and smiled as if her long-awaited bonus had finally arrived.
In the hillside villa, a piano stands quietly in front of the floor-to-ceiling window. Sunlight streams in at an angle, draping the room in a thin, translucent veil. The fingers dance up and down, directing the piano keys in obedient response.
Upon hearing the music, Chi Hengxun couldn't wait to go downstairs. He stood by the stairs, mesmerized, for a long time, even wishing his life could freeze there, with no past and no future.
As the song ended, Chi Hengxun, still feeling unsatisfied, looked towards the direction Du Pianjian was referring to.
A third of the mineral water bottle on the piano lid had been cut off, and a white hyacinth was stuck in it. Red roses decorated the French windows, huddled together forlornly with their kind. Chi Hengxun thought blankly: They should have been replaced with white roses.
Noticing Chi Hengxun's arrival, Du Pianjian glanced at him briefly before looking away.
Apologizing was hard to say. Chi Hengxun had never apologized to anyone in his life. The words swirled in his mind and out of his mouth, and what came out was: "A note. Is the piano alright?"
I thought there would be no response again, but I got a nice three-word reply.
The clear, spring-like voice instantly washed away Chi Hengxun's gloomy heart, and he forgave himself!
Chi Hengxun saw his gaze shift back to the red roses and was overjoyed, as if he had discovered something else that Chi Hengxun liked and that he could use to please him—flowers.
Chi Hengxun said, "Do you like it? I'll make you a bouquet of red roses to put in your room."
Du Pianjian stood up, picked up her water bottle, walked past Chi Hengxun upstairs, and said in a nonchalant tone, "No need."
"Don't you like it?"
"The rose stems were cut too short; they won't survive until today."
"Then I'll deliver it to you every day."
Du Pianjian paused on her way upstairs, and Chi Hengxun stopped as well. He looked up at the white-and-gray shirt-clad figure and felt a chill run down his spine, but in the end, Du Pianjian did not turn around and went straight upstairs to her study.
The study was fan-shaped, with bookshelves on both walls high, filled with all sorts of books. It wasn't until Du Pianjian arrived that the first dusty page was opened.
Chi Hengxun disliked reading, but his father valued it most, constantly nagging him about it as a child, to the point that he now found it annoying. However, his father had paid for the house and insisted on having a study room, even specifying its size. His resistance ultimately resulted in the study being placed in a corner on the second floor, but the designer, despite the irregular shape, made the most of the space, maximizing its usability.
Du Pianjian placed the vase on the table, her eyes sweeping over the bookshelf. Chi Hengxun, of course, wouldn't miss this opportunity to help him solve his problem, and asked with a mix of confidence and caution, "What kind of book do you want?"
Although he didn't know where it was, he could order someone to buy it immediately.
Du Pianjian took out a copy of "Don Quixote," opened the title page, confirmed it was a Spanish edition, walked to the desk, sat down, and casually asked, "Your phone kept ringing yesterday, who was it?"
"Zhao Junjie asked me about the approval process for one of his projects." Chi Hengxun sat down opposite him, propped his chin up, and stared intently. Even spending day and night together wasn't enough.
"Stop it, school's starting soon, you can't stop me." Du Pianjian turned a page and said casually.
Chi Hengxun immediately sat up straight, his fingers unconsciously curling and turning white. He pressed down the lighter and said as calmly as possible, "I just want to spend a little more time with you."
Du Pianjian turned another page: "As a teacher, I don't want to ruin any of my students."
The stool slammed back with a screeching sound, and Chi Hengxun suddenly stood up, the veins in his neck bulging blue: "Why can't we ever break free from the student-teacher relationship? In a few more months, I won't be your student anymore."
Du Pianjian closed the book, looked up and stared directly at him: "I've been giving you chances all along. If I call the police, your future will be completely ruined."
Chi Hengxun was furious, but he and Du Pianjian had just reconciled, and he didn't want another cold war or a hot war. He turned around and stomped over a chair, barely managing to maintain his composure amidst the noise, and said, "I'm not afraid of that. I just want to spend more time with you. Why can't I? You've been saying you wanted to leave, so I'll let you go to school when it starts. Can't you just go along with me this once?"
Du Pianjian remained silent, seemingly considering the credibility of Chi Hengxun's words. Finally, she raised her eyes and asked, "If I stay here for a month, will you let me go back to school?"
Seeing that Du Pianjian was showing signs of relenting, Chi Hengxun immediately replied, "Yes, that's right!"
He longed to get along well with Du Pianjian. If they could get along well for just one day, they could get along well for a week, a month, a year, or even a lifetime.
