Chapter 9 Throwing Qi Huaiyu's things out

Feng was thrown out of the Xin residence. Seeing that no amount of tantrums would work, she had no choice but to slink back to her own home.

This small courtyard facing the street was actually given to them by the Xin family. After the mother and son were released from their registered residence, Xin Jiuwei secretly paid extra money to have it furnished.

Xin Jiuwei, who used to be so obedient to her son, what's wrong with her today!

Just wait and see. Once Xin Jiuwei regrets it, her future mother-in-law won't be so easy to appease!

Just then, Qi Huaiyu pushed the door open and entered. As soon as Madam Feng saw him, she immediately started shouting.

"You're back just in time! Xin Jiuwei wouldn't let me into the courtyard. Go and give her a good scolding, lest she go too far!"

Qi Huaiyu was already in a bad mood, and when his mother yelled at him, he lost his temper.

"It's not your yard to begin with, what can I do if she won't let me in?"

Madam Feng stared wide-eyed at her son, throwing down the melon seeds in her hand. "Where did you get upset that you came back to act so wildly towards your old mother?"

Qi Huaiyu didn't say anything and went straight back to his bedroom.

Madam Feng chased after her and said, "Did that little brat Xin Jiuwei upset you? What's the use of giving me attitude? If you hadn't insisted on bringing that Xue Yingxue to her, she wouldn't have found a reason to throw a tantrum!"

Qi Huaiyu said, "It has nothing to do with Ying Xue."

"That's a huge deal!" Madam Feng exclaimed. "I told you long ago, that Xue Yingxue is always talking about romance and poetry, she's not reliable! And she doesn't even have parents yet, don't get too close to her!"

"And you, for the sake of such a worthless woman, offended Xin Jiuwei, and now you're taking it out on your old mother!"

Qi Huaiyu also got angry, "Ying Xue is the daughter of a military family and is also very talented. How can Xin Jiuwei compare to her?"

Madam Feng exclaimed "Oh dear!" several times, "The Xin family's wealth couldn't be earned even if they sold Xue Yingxue a hundred times over. I think you've gone mad!"

"Ying Xue is not a woman you can insult at will!" Qi Huaiyu raised his voice, which was rare for him, but he quickly lowered it again, though his face was still unpleasant.

"Xin Jiuwei is nothing but a few stinking coins, she's incredibly stupid, what's there to be afraid of?"

Madam Feng said, "She threw such a tantrum today and tore off all my fine clothes. What should we do?"

"Who knows what she's up to this time?" Qi Huaiyu sneered. "Don't worry, it's probably just like you said, Mother. She can't stand Ying Xue, so she'll leave her hanging for a few days and then she'll come begging for mercy on her own."

"Yes, yes, yes!" Madam Feng suddenly realized. "The young ladies of these big families are just so temperamental. You're so good at handling things, son. But after all that arrogance she threw today, how many days will it take for her to calm down?"

Qi Huaiyu's eyes were filled with disdain and smugness. "You'll see how many days she can hold out. If she's strong enough, then come back to fawn over me. I'm not that easy to talk to."

Madam Feng said, "Then don't play dumb for too long. I'm going back to enjoy a good life as soon as possible."

"Mother, don't worry." Qi Huaiyu forced a smile and closed the door.

As Madam Feng hummed a little tune and walked away, a hint of disdain flashed through Qi Huaiyu's mind.

His mother was also a vulgar and uncouth woman, unaware of how rare and precious Yingxue was.

He was destined for great things, and only someone with Xue Yingxue's talent and temperament was worthy of him. As for Xin Jiuwei—the things the Xin family had weren't given to her by him.

With his talent, it's perfectly normal for Xin Jiuwei to admire him. Since she insists on giving it to him, does he have any reason to refuse?

Once he takes over the Xin family, will he still have trouble finding a way to dump Xin Jiuwei and marry Xue Yingxue?

Qi Huaiyu remained smug, waiting for Xin Jiuwei to come and apologize to him.

However, everything was calm for Xin Jiuwei, and she slept very soundly.

The next day, with the matter of cleaning up the servants in mind, she got up early and asked Wang Qing to draw up a list, and also brought the indentures of all the servants in her courtyard.

Xin Jiuwei was muddle-headed and didn't like to get involved in things in her previous life, but now it seems that Feng Shi has really interfered.

In her courtyard, a large number of people had changed in the past two years. The new maids, cooks and servants were either bought by Madam Feng or were relatives of Madam Feng in various ways.

"I've given these people a contract of indenture and sent them out of the manor." Xin Jiuwei gave Mianfeng one list and Wang Qing another. "Observe these people for a few days."

Both maids agreed, and Xin Jiuwei then asked someone to bring the accounts from her own courtyard.

Her mother died early, and there was no matriarch in the Xin family. In order to train his two daughters, Xin's father let them manage the accounts in the courtyard themselves.

It took most of the day to clear the accounts, and what we found was shocking.

Xin Jiuwei's maternal grandparents were wealthy merchants, so she was naturally not short of money. However, she was not actually fond of luxury, yet the silver in her own courtyard was being spent like water every day.

It goes without saying that all the money was spent on Qi Huaiyu and her son!

Qi Huaiyu's every need—food, clothing, lodging, transportation, going out to drink tea and enjoy flowers with his classmates and young masters, social interactions and gift-giving—was all paid for by Xin Jiuwei.

He would even go to the housekeeper to ask for more money after he had used up Xin Jiuwei's monthly allowance. Since Xin Jiuwei liked him, he was never stopped.

The more Xin Jiuwei looked, the angrier she became, and she called for Mianfeng.

"Throw all of Qi Huaiyu's things out of the study, and also—"

She raised her voice slightly, and because the door was open, her words could be clearly heard into the yard.

“I am not married yet, and Qi Huaiyu is not the son-in-law of the Xin family, nor is he a distant relative. Any debts he incurs in the name of the Xin family in the future will not be counted.”

Mianfeng happily agreed and soon led his men to the study.

Qi Huaiyu was completely unaware of what was happening in the Xin family.

He was shopping with Xue Yingxue.
