As a seasoned novel enthusiast, Wen Shuqiao never expected to catch the transmigration trend herself. The bad news is that she transmigrated into a healing-oriented Long Aotian novel, becoming the ...
Wen Shuqiao didn't stop walking. She didn't even look at Shen Jiazhou, and simply replied, "Why are you asking this out of the blue?"
Shen Jiazhou squeezed Cancan's hand, feeling its plumpness and his slightly nervous mood, so he unconsciously increased the pressure.
Can Can frowned and said, "Uncle, it hurts when you pinch my hand."
Shen Jiazhou coughed lightly, then even more lightly: "I didn't use any force."
Then he said to Wen Shuqiao, "We were just chatting, and it just so happens that we've come up with the topic of marriage."
Wen Shuqiao said, "I haven't thought about it."
Shen Jiazhou blinked: "Do you feel like you haven't run into them?"
"No," Wen Shuqiao denied. "I just haven't thought about it. I might have a whirlwind marriage, or I might not get married at all. It depends on the person."
"A whirlwind marriage, huh?" Shen Jiazhou pondered for a moment. "Aren't you afraid the other person might be a wolf in sheep's clothing?"
Then she thought, a whirlwind marriage isn't necessarily a bad thing.
"I'm scared," Wen Shuqiao said with a smile. "But he's a good person, and I like him. Wouldn't a whirlwind marriage be a happy ending for everyone?"
Shen Jiazhou gave an "oh" and drew out the last syllable, then didn't ask any more questions, lost in thought.
The three of them entered the store. The store was heated, making it much warmer than outside. Can Can was already familiar with the place. She greeted the receptionist and was about to head up to the private room when she heard a voice filled with immense surprise: "Can Can!"
Can Can looked in the direction of the voice, her eyes instantly lighting up: "An An!"
The two children ran quickly toward each other, holding hands, hopping and skipping like little rabbits.
Wen Shuqiao was also a little surprised to see An'an. She walked over, and An'an happily said, "Auntie! Happy New Year!"
Wen Shuqiao patted his head: "Happy New Year, An'an."
Shen Jiazhou also came over. He and An'an had never met properly, but he had seen An'an's photos and videos.
An An held Can Can's hand, looked curiously at Shen Jia Zhou, then at Can Can, and asked, "Can Can, is this your father?"
But why does he remember that Can Can's father has passed away? And why does this uncle look so much like Can Can?
“No,” Can Can explained, “This is my uncle, my father’s younger brother.”
"Oh!" An'an nodded, "I understand! Happy New Year, Uncle!"
Shen Jiazhou smiled and said, "Hello, An'an."
Then An'an said, "Your uncle is definitely good enough to be your aunt's boyfriend, he's handsome!"
Can Can proudly raised her chin: "Yes, yes, my uncle is my aunt's boyfriend, and he's handsome!"
Shen Jiazhou's eyes widened as he looked at Wen Shuqiao and quickly explained, "I didn't teach him that. I never taught him to say it like that."
Wen Shuqiao was also surprised that Cancan and An'an would say such things, and before she could react, she heard Shen Jiazhou frantically explaining.
She gave a helpless smile: "I know there must be some misunderstanding here."
Shen Jiazhou muttered to himself, "Isn't this misunderstanding just too wonderful?"
Wen Shuqiao turned to look at him: "What?"
Shen Jiazhou coughed lightly: "It's nothing."
But the ears turned red at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Wen Shuqiao glanced at his ear, then looked away, focusing her attention on An'an: "Who did you come with? Why are you alone in the lobby?"
An'an said, "I came with my mom and uncle! My mom was ordering food in the private room, and I came out to pee and check if my uncle had parked the car properly."
I never expected to run into his best friend, Can Can! I'm so happy!
Wen Shuqiao hummed in agreement: "Should I send a message to ask if your uncle has come in yet?"
An'an was about to say yes, but her sharp eyes spotted Xie Jingbei coming in through the door.
He waved: "Uncle! I'm here."
Xie Jingbei was looking down at his phone when he heard An'an's voice and looked up, just in time to meet Wen Shuqiao's gaze.
He paused for a moment, then his expression softened as if melting away, but soon he noticed the man with a stern face next to Wen Shuqiao.
Xie Jingbei raised his hand and pushed up the half-rimmed glasses perched on his nose. A fleeting, almost imperceptible emotion flashed in his narrow eyes behind the lenses. After lowering his hand, he still smiled gently.
He walked over quickly: "Shuqiao, Happy New Year! I didn't expect to run into you here."
"Happy New Year, Teacher Xie." Wen Shuqiao greeted her and then looked at Cancan.
Can Can politely greeted, "Happy New Year, Uncle An An."
Xie Jingbei smiled and patted his head: "Uncle didn't bring a New Year's red envelope this time, I'll make it up to you next time we meet, okay?"
Wen Shuqiao said, "Teacher Xie, you don't need to be so polite. I didn't bring a New Year's red envelope for An'an either."
Xie Jingbei said, "The kids are just having fun."
After he finished speaking, he looked at Shen Jiazhou and extended his hand: "President Shen, I've heard so much about you. Happy New Year."
Shen Jiazhou looked at the hand raised in mid-air, and extended his own hand, his face displaying the polite smile he usually wore when meeting clients: "President Xie, nice to meet you, Happy New Year."
Both of them were smiling, but for some reason, Wen Shuqiao felt that there was something strange about them, which could be seen from their smiles—they both looked very forced.
