"No way, I'm not watching."

Asking for 100 gold coins per message is outrageous! The book's title is definitely better; "The Book of Greed" would be far more fitting.

"Really? The rest is really exciting!" The Book of Greed persisted, continuing its sales pitch.

"I'm not looking anymore, I'm not looking anymore, and I'm not selling anything."

Upon hearing Gu Xi's words, the Book of Greed was dumbfounded. If not a single step of this deal was accomplished, wouldn't it have wasted so much energy and suffered a huge loss?

The Book of Greed was completely unaware that Gu Xi's purpose wasn't actually to participate in the auction. She had only been rambling on about the uses of the Tuntun Fish scales, which was why she'd spent so much time discussing the book. Now, the Book of Greed was completely on the defensive and was clearly getting anxious.

"You, you should reconsider. If you don't know how to use the scales of the 'Tuntun Fish,' you're missing out. You won't know what to buy to pair with it."

Gu Xi stared at the Book of Greed with cold indifference and without uttering a word.

The Book of Greed sensed her gaze and felt as if the entire book had fallen into icy water.

Immediately afterwards, Gu Xi saw water droplets dripping from the book, a sudden scene that left her completely dumbfounded.

Are you crying?

The Book of Greed stubbornly replied, "No!"

It thought that all its efforts had been in vain, and the whole book was ruined. Although it had now escaped the fate of being enslaved by other races, it couldn't help but feel sad when it thought about the bitter days of being exploited.

Gu Xi couldn't stand it anymore and asked, "How about you give me a discount? I'll buy one message for 10 gold coins."

The price was immediately cut by nine-tenths, which made the Book of Greed even more upset, and it kept hiccuping.

"Ten gold coins aren't even enough for a meal."

Upon hearing this, Gu Xi chuckled. After all, what does a book "eat"? Is it the scent of paper and ink, or the knowledge between the pages?

"You have no idea how expensive mental potions are. I have to work long hours every day just to eat."

"Can't you not eat?" Gu Xi asked tentatively.

She was also very curious about what the Book of Greed meant by "eating".

The Book of Greed: "I need to rely on mental energy to maintain my current state. Without bathing in mental energy potions, I will soon fall into a deep sleep."

After hearing its explanation, Gu Xi hadn't expected a book to be so expensive. Although a single spirit potion only cost a dozen or so silver coins, this book was so big that it would probably require hundreds of potions for a single bath. No wonder it said it needed to earn money to support itself.

However, while I understand, she would never spend 100 gold coins to buy a message.

After reaching a compromise, she raised the price again, negotiating with the Book of Greed: "50 gold coins, that's the most I can offer."

Although the price was still halved, the Book of Greed finally stopped dripping. After a few seconds of silence, it reluctantly agreed.

"Okay, but this offer is only valid for one time."

Gu Xi nodded and counted out 50 gold coins for it.

The Book of Greed happily accepted the money, and then the whole book flashed again.

Gu Xi tried turning the page again, and this time she turned it smoothly.

The rest of the pages were blank, except for the first line which contained text describing how to use the scales of a type of fish called "Tuntunyu".
