On our wedding night, just as we were about to consummate the marriage, my wife Lin Wanrou received a call from her white moonlight, Chen Kai, saying that he had gotten a divorce.
She pushed ...
Qin Yang's face remained expressionless, his eyes as calm as a deep pool.
He didn't take a step immediately, but just looked at the old butler indifferently.
That gaze seemed to see right through his thoughts.
The old butler felt his scalp tingle under their gaze, and cold sweat poured down his back, which was almost completely soaked.
He felt like a prisoner who had been stripped naked and thrown into the freezing cold, with nowhere to hide.
"Lead the way." Finally, Qin Yang uttered two words.
His voice remained cold and devoid of any emotion.
The old butler breathed a long sigh of relief, feeling as if he had just escaped from the jaws of death.
"Yes, yes, Mr. Qin, this way please!"
He hurriedly led the way, his back bent and his steps unsteady, yet he dared not walk too slowly, for fear of displeasing the menacing figure behind him.
Qin Yang followed.
One person walked in front, bowing and scraping, hurrying along; the other walked behind, indifferent and leisurely strolling.
The two walked through the gate of the Ye family mansion, a symbol of power and authority.
As their figures disappeared behind the door, the heavy door slowly closed again.
The world outside the door returned to peace.
But everyone knows that an even bigger storm is brewing within the Ye family!
After entering the Ye family's gate, it was not the wide main road that I had imagined.
Instead, it is a winding, meandering cobblestone path.
The path is flanked by meticulously manicured flowerbeds and uniquely shaped rockeries, with pavilions and towers nestled among lush greenery, offering a picturesque view at every turn, exuding a rustic yet elegant charm.
But behind this elegance lies an unsettling silence.
The huge courtyard was almost deserted, with hardly any servants in sight, and a faint sense of oppression permeated the air.
The old butler walked ahead with his head down, his steps never faltering, as if he were deliberately trying to speed up.
But the more he walked, the more noticeable his body trembled.
Cold sweat dripped from his forehead onto the bluestone slab, leaving small water stains that were quickly dried by the wind.
His gaze began to dart uncontrollably to the left and right.
It seemed to be observing something, or perhaps confirming something.
Qin Yang followed behind him, his gaze calmly sweeping over the surroundings.
His steps were unhurried, each step landing firmly and making a soft, rhythmic sound.
The monotonous sound of footsteps was exceptionally clear in the quiet environment.
It was like an invisible hammer, constantly striking the old butler's heart.
They passed through courtyard after courtyard and walked through corridor after corridor.
We passed one seemingly ordinary artificial hill and waterside pavilion after another.
The Ye family mansion is much larger than it appears from the outside.
The fabric here is incredibly complex, like a giant maze.
Without someone to guide them, outsiders who venture in would likely lose their way immediately.
Time passed silently, and another ten minutes or so went by.
They have penetrated quite deep into the core area of the Ye family's main residence.
The surrounding environment became increasingly remote and quiet, and even the birdsong could no longer be heard.
The only sounds were the rustling of leaves in the wind and the footsteps of the two people walking one after the other.
The old butler's expression became increasingly unnatural, his face sometimes pale and sometimes flushed.
His lips were pressed tightly together, as if he was trying his best to suppress his inner tension and fear.
He kept turning around, wanting to see Qin Yang's reaction, but he didn't dare to meet Qin Yang's gaze.
Each time he looked back, it was as if he had made a huge decision, and then he quickly turned back, his steps becoming even more hurried.
Qin Yang took in the old butler's subtle changes in expression, and a cold, mocking smile slowly curved his lips.
Finally, they arrived at a spacious courtyard surrounded by high walls and dense bushes.
This appears to be an abandoned corner of the Ye family's main residence. The ground is paved with blue bricks, and the cracks between the bricks are covered with moss, making it look somewhat desolate.
But upon closer inspection, one will find that the layout here seems to conform to some mysterious pattern.
Whether it's the height of the walls, the location of the trees, or the arrangement of the blue bricks on the ground, everything exudes an unusual atmosphere.
The old butler paused noticeably as he walked into the courtyard, taking a deep breath as if he wanted to say something.
But at that moment...
"tread."
Qin Yang stopped abruptly without warning.
He stopped at the entrance to the courtyard, about ten steps away from the old butler.
The old butler's heart skipped a beat, and an extremely ominous premonition instantly enveloped his entire body.
He turned around abruptly, forcing a stiff smile onto his face.
"Mr. Qin, why aren't you leaving?"
"The head of the family is in the reception room at the front..."
Qin Yang didn't look at him, but instead looked around the seemingly ordinary courtyard with great interest.
After a moment, he slowly turned his head and his gaze fell on the old butler's face, which was filled with panic and unease.
"That's about it." Qin Yang said calmly, his voice not loud, but it resounded like thunder in the old butler's ears!
"Let's do it here."
The old butler's face drained of all color in an instant!
His pupils contracted sharply, and his body began to tremble uncontrollably!
"Young Master Qin, what did you say?" He tried to play dumb, his voice trembling uncontrollably.
"This old servant doesn't understand."
Qin Yang looked at him, his eyes filled with undisguised mockery and disdain.
"Are you still going to put on this show?" He sneered, his voice suddenly turning cold, like a chilling wind from the deepest hell!
"Take me deep into the heart of the Ye family's territory, winding and turning, avoiding all eyes and ears, to this remote corner."
