Everyone in the capital knew that Qin Su was shameless and shamelessly married the eldest son of the Xue family.

Xue Huai'an was as gentle as jade and as clear as the wind and moon. In ju...

Chapter 75 Years of Silent Watching

Life is but a few short decades, and Qin Su knew she had missed out on far too much. So when Yu Shuo proposed getting married in ten days, she wavered.

In the end, this date was actually set.

They may be the fastest newlyweds in Da'an's history.

When he left, Yu Shuo gave Qin Su a small box.

He told her to open it only after he left.

After everyone left, Lian Tao and Qin Zhi came over, extremely curious.

Not to mention them, Qin Su was also curious.

It's a black box, and from a distance it doesn't look particularly special. But upon closer inspection, you can see that the box is engraved with extremely delicate patterns, which, upon closer examination, appear to be twin lotus flowers and mandarin ducks.

Qin Su almost lost her composure; this was something Yu Shuo would never use.

She opened the box, and what was inside almost blinded her.

"Hmm? It's so messy. It has everything." Lian Tao didn't reach for it, but felt that this box was even messier than her dressing case.

"Is this a puppy?" Qin Su picked out a necklace from the box. The chain was made of green jade beads, and the pendant looked like a jade-carved puppy.

Just by looking at the quality, you can tell it's quite valuable.

"The carving is truly exquisite," Qin Zhi exclaimed.

Qin Su put the necklace aside and picked up a hairpin. Unlike the flower-shaped hairpins on the market, this hairpin was carved with a small, adorable cat.

Qin Su couldn't describe her feelings; she found it hard to believe that a man with no blood relation could love her so much.

The box truly contained everything imaginable: a hairpin, hair ornament, earrings, a brooch, a longevity lock necklace, a back ornament, and even colorful little windmills and wood carvings that weren't particularly exquisite.

A whole bunch of miscellaneous things.

Scrolling to the bottom, Qin Su discovered a thick stack of letters inside.

Qin Su had a gut feeling that these letters should explain the origin of these little things.

The handwriting on the letter evolved from childish to vigorous and powerful.

The first letter was about a wooden carving. It said that Yu Shuo saw many children on the street who liked wooden carvings, and he thought Qin Su would like them too, so he bought one.

The second letter was about windmills, for the same reason as the wood carving.

Gradually, he began selecting accessories that were most popular among women in the capital. Indeed, some of these pieces were styles that were popular many years ago and were now somewhat out of fashion.

However, they all bear traces of the past.

Turning to the last letter, it read—

She seems to have feelings for someone else, the eldest son of the Duke of Cheng. I feel that man is extremely cunning; Su Su might be bullied if she's with him. Why can't she choose me? Am I not as handsome as Xue Huai'an? Today I saw a fine piece of jade, and remembering that Su Su seems to really like cats, I'll carve a cat hairpin. I hope I can give it to her.

Her feelings were indescribable. While she could only see others, there were also people secretly watching her.

Qin Su carefully placed each gift back into the box, took a deep breath, closed the box, and said to Lian Tao, "Put it in my room, and take it with you when you get married."

She had something she wanted to say to Yu Shuo, but she didn't want to say it before the marriage.

That evening, Qin Su went to see her mother and told her about the wedding date.

Qin's mother immediately frowned and scolded Qin Su, "How could it be so fast? What kind of girl gets married so quickly?"

Qin's father disagreed, saying, "That's not right. If this were in White Tiger Village, we could carry the person up the mountain and have them consummate the marriage that very day."

Qin's mother glared at him, and Qin's father immediately shut up.

Qin Su's eyes were gentle as she said, "Mother, I've missed out on so much. Life is only a few decades long, and I don't want to waste any more time. If Yu Shuo is the right person, there's nothing wrong with getting together as soon as possible."

"Even if we're not right for each other in the end, at least I'm happy now."

Qin's mother wasn't the stubborn type, so when she heard her daughter say that, she stopped objecting. "Alright, it just so happens that the dowry we gave you when we went to the Duke of Cheng's mansion last time hasn't been touched yet. Adding some more now would be fine."

Qin Su nodded, "Thank you for your hard work, Mother and Father."

"As long as you are happy, your mother and your father will be happy."

The next day, Qin Su took Lian Tao and Qin Zhi out early in the morning. She first sent Qin Zhi to school, and then she and Lian Tao wandered around Guanqian Street.

Lian Tao saw that Qin Su had bought a bunch of miscellaneous things and already understood what was going on.

"Is the young lady planning to give His Highness Prince Chen the exact same gift?"

The little windmill and the wood carving were the same ones I saw yesterday, but they looked different.

"I do have that plan, but I don't think it can compare to what he gave me." Some of the ornaments in Yu Shuo's collection are made of jade that was tribute from other countries. Where would she find such materials?

The Qin family is rich, but there are some things that money can't buy.

"The thought is what counts." Lian Tao felt that Yu Shuo wouldn't care about the value of these gifts; he would only care who gave them to him.

Turning into an alley, Qin Su immediately turned back, deciding to go around and not take that alley.

"etc."

Seeing Qin Su turn around without any mercy, the person behind him immediately chased after her and called out to her.

"Are you really going to marry Prince Chen?"

Qin Su ignored her and walked with Lian Tao and Qin Zhi, saying, "I wonder how Zhu Zhu is feeling today, and whether she can attend the wedding banquet."

Lian Tao replied, "Miss Wang has changed quite a bit, but it's best if she doesn't leave the manor for the time being."

"Qin Su!"

"I'll ask you one last time, are you really going to marry Prince Chen?"

Qin Su turned her head, her gaze falling on Xue Huai'an, who was dressed in white, and sneered contemptuously, "What gives you the right to ask me this?"

Xue Huai'an frowned, and Qin Su said again, "Ex-husband? You're not even an ex-husband. Xue Huai'an, if you want to live any longer, don't show your face in front of me."
