Her ex-husband cheated, the mistress forced her hand, and all her deep love was met with betrayal. Thoroughly betrayed and divorced, Su Yan completely shut herself off, vowing to torment all the sc...
Su Yan slowly closed her mouth, looked at him, and remained silent.
Yi An took a deep breath. "I know you won't believe me because of that incident, but you have to give me a chance to prove myself! Xiao Yu, I like her very much too. I was also very angry about what happened. We feel the same way!"
“They’re different,” Su Yan corrected.
Yi An didn't argue with her. "Fine, if you say it's different, then it's different. Give me a chance to prove my sincerity, okay?"
Before Su Yan could speak, Yi An immediately replied, "It's settled then!"
He grabbed Su Yan's hand and squeezed it tightly.
"It's a pleasure to work with you."
Su Yan pulled her hand away and sat there without saying a word.
The air was heavy, and Yi'an dared not speak easily anymore.
He has said everything he needed to say; as for the outcome, he can only accept his fate.
After an unknown amount of time, Su Yan suddenly relented.
"I've found Chenchen's information. His birth records were processed at Jishi Hospital. However, when I asked someone to check, the records are no longer available. Can you find them?"
Yi'an listened to her words and was stunned to hear a hint of expectation in them.
"At Jishi Hospital?"
He felt the hospital sounded vaguely familiar, and just as he was about to say something, Su Yan's phone rang, interrupting him.
"Hello, Mr. Wu, what's the matter?"
"Oh, it's about the design competition. Okay, I'm free right now, let's meet up."
"Okay, please send the address to my phone."
Su Yan exchanged a few words with Mr. Wu on the other end of the phone and then hung up.
She stood up abruptly. "I have to go out for a bit. Could you please look into Chenchen's matter for me? I'm very anxious. Thank you."
After she finished speaking politely, she turned to leave.
Yi An heard everything she said on the phone.
Upon hearing that it was General Manager Wu calling and that they wanted to meet, Yi An felt as if she were facing a formidable enemy.
"I'll give you a ride; my car is right downstairs."
Yi An followed him eagerly.
"No need, I'm already very grateful that you helped me find out about Chenchen."
Su Yan refused without a second thought, locked the door, turned and entered the elevator, not giving Yi An a chance to speak again.
Yi An looked dejectedly at the descending elevator floor number.
"No, I can't let them meet alone!"
He finished speaking through gritted teeth and immediately pressed the elevator button rapidly, as if he wanted to break it.
Yi An followed Su Yan's car all the way to a coffee shop.
He sat in the car and watched Su Yan walk in, and she greeted Mr. Wu, who had arrived earlier, warmly.
With a gloomy face, Yi An stealthily got out of the car and crept to the flower bed outside the coffee shop like a thief.
Using the flowers and plants as cover, he kept a close eye on a pair of figures inside the coffee shop.
When Mr. Wu, who was completely unaware of what was happening outside, saw Su Yan walking towards him, his mouth practically stretched to his ears in a wide grin.
"Joan, you've finally come."
After Su Yan sat down, she smiled and said, "President Wu, please don't call me Qiong anymore. Just call me Su Yan. That's my real name."
Mr. Wu was flattered by these words and repeated them several times in a low voice before finally managing to stammer out the words.
"Su... Su Yan."
Just calling his name made him blush, as shy as an innocent young girl.
Su Yan tried to ignore the subtle atmosphere and steered the conversation to the main topic.
"I wonder what Mr. Wu wants to discuss with me regarding the design competition?"
Mr. Wu wasn't really talking about the design competition; he clearly wanted to call her and ask her out for coffee, but he didn't have a suitable excuse, so he brought up the design competition as a cover.
"Ah... this design competition... um... it's nothing particularly important. Why don't we have some coffee and chat first, then we can talk about that matter."
He chuckled dryly and pushed the coffee in front of him away.
Su Yan roughly guessed what he was thinking, but couldn't expose him, so she could only pretend to be clueless and drink her coffee.
"Su... Yan".
Mr. Wu stammered out her name once more, then fell into deep reminiscence.
"Remember that design exhibition in the US? I ran all over the country just to see you. Then I heard from passersby that you were there, so I rushed over."
He gave an awkward laugh when that past event was brought up.
"If I hadn't happened to know someone at the exhibition, I probably would have been mistaken for a criminal by the security guards at the entrance and taken to the police station."
Su Yan gave a polite chuckle, unsure of what to say.
Mr. Wu sighed sadly, "Even if I hadn't been arrested and taken to the police station, I still missed my chance with you."
Su Yan: "It's okay, we still met again, didn't we? And we even became friends."
"Friends?" Mr. Wu exclaimed in surprise, "We're friends?!"
"Friend my foot!"
Yi An was so angry that she gritted her teeth when she saw President Wu's drooling, fanboy-like appearance.
"What should we do? Why did we go in and disturb them?"
He was thinking with a worried expression when the name Jishi Hospital suddenly popped into his head.
"Jishi Hospital?"
A flash of inspiration struck Yi An, and he suddenly realized why the name sounded so familiar!
He slapped his thigh, glared fiercely at the grinning Mr. Wu, and strode confidently into the coffee shop.
After chuckling to himself, Mr. Wu lowered his head in embarrassment.
"Su... Yan, there's something I've always wanted to ask you."
Su Yan: "Hmm? What is it? Mr. Wu, please feel free to ask."
"It's just... have you ever... done anything to me?"
Before Mr. Wu could finish speaking, a deep male voice suddenly came from above.
"No!"
Mr. Wu looked up in surprise, and his eyes met Yi An's fiery gaze.
"Mr. Yi? What are you doing here?"
Yi An stared intently at him, then plopped down next to Su Yan, answering a completely unrelated question: "No matter what, she has none, not a single thing, not a single cent. She didn't have any before, she doesn't have any now, and she certainly won't have any in the future!"
He wished he could cover all of Mr. Wu's escape routes with cement.
"Yi An, what brings you here?" Su Yan looked at Yi An in surprise.
Yi An didn't answer, but instead took her hand and said in a sickeningly sweet voice, "Wife, it's been ten minutes since you left my side. I've missed you, missed you, missed you so much."
Not only did President Wu's face darken, but even Su Yan got goosebumps all over.
She strongly suspected that Yi'an hadn't taken her medicine before going out.
She shuddered and tried to pull her hand away, but Yi An held it down firmly.
"I suddenly have something very important to tell you, something you've been really eager to know. If you don't hear it right away, you'll regret it for the rest of your life!"
