Chapter Nine: He Ate His Candy

The classroom door was pushed open, and the kindergarten teacher, holding Yi Kangle's hand, walked in slowly with a smile.

"Let me introduce you to a new friend."

The teacher pushed Yi Kangle to the front and introduced him enthusiastically.

Yi Kangle looked at the curious gazes of the children below and felt a little timid.

Seeing that he remained silent, the teacher whispered a reminder: "Introduce yourself to everyone."

Yi Kangle walked away with his head down for a while before stammering, "My name is Yi Kangle. My parents call me Xiaobao. You can call me Xiaobao too. I'm four years old this year."

He spoke haltingly, stumbling over every word, and it took him a long time to complete his self-introduction.

The teacher was not surprised by his shyness.

Because this is how most children are when they come to a new environment.

Of course, there are exceptions.

For example, Su Xiaoyu.

"Let's give him a round of applause!"

At the teacher's prompting, enthusiastic applause erupted in the classroom.

Yi Kangle lowered his head even further.

The teacher glanced around the classroom and noticed that all the seats were already occupied without her noticing.

There was only one seat left in the entire classroom.

She hesitated for a moment, but still said to Yi Kangle, "Xiao Bao, why don't you sit over there?"

Yi Kangle looked in the direction the teacher was pointing, but could only barely make out a small braid that was sticking up.

He hesitated for a moment, then slowly walked over.

As he got closer, he finally saw the owner of the braid.

She is a cute little girl with pink and tender skin.

She was looking down, intently painting the picture in her hands.

Yi Kangle looked her over carefully and saw that she was not very big and was about the same age as him.

He subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief and carefully sat down in his seat, afraid of disturbing her.

But the little girl didn't seem to notice his arrival, as she was focused on painting her picture.

Whether it's during class or after class, nothing seems to disturb her concentration on drawing.

When the class ended, the other children, like wild horses released from their reins, rushed out and ran to play in the yard.

Yi Kangle also wanted to go, but hesitated for a long time because he didn't know any of the children and didn't dare to take a step.

Throughout the entire kindergarten, the person he was most familiar with was probably the little girl next to him who had never uttered a single word.

He would steal glances at the little girl from time to time, wanting to strike up a conversation, but he lacked the courage.

After hesitating for a long time, he finally uttered his first words.

"My name is Yi Kangle, you can call me Xiaobao. What's your name?"

After the questioning, there was a long silence.

Just as Yi Kangle thought she was unwilling to talk to him and was about to get up and leave in disappointment, she suddenly spoke.

"Su Xiaoyu".

The three words were spoken very softly, like a light drizzle in spring.

But Yi Kangle heard it clearly, and he immediately became excited and started talking non-stop.

"Su Xiaoyu, is that your name? It's a beautiful name."

He showered her with praise, hoping it would bring a smile to her face, but instead he received only deathly silence.

Su Xiaoyu acted as if she hadn't heard anything and completely ignored him.

Yi Kangle was not discouraged. He turned around anxiously, trying to find something else to talk about, but unfortunately, he couldn't find any topics to discuss.

In his anxiety, he glanced at the words on her desk and noticed them.

He exclaimed in surprise, "Why is the sun black? The sun is clearly yellow!"

Su Xiaoyu suddenly stopped painting. She turned her head and stared at Yi Kangle silently without saying a word.

Her eyes were cold and devoid of warmth, and her silence made Yi Kangle feel afraid, causing him to subconsciously move to the side.

Su Xiaoyu noticed this little action, a mocking smile appeared on her face, and she stood up and walked straight out of the classroom.

Yi Kangle watched her retreating figure, wanting to call out to her, but too afraid to speak.

After hesitating for a moment, Su Xiaoyu's figure disappeared from his sight.

"Xiao Bao made her angry again."

Yi Kangle lowered his head apologetically.

"Xiao Bao should go and apologize to her,"

He reflected on it for a long time before finally making the decision.

Yi Kangle stood up and ran outside, his little legs flapping like a clumsy duck.

He ran breathlessly and finally caught up with Su Xiaoyu.

"Su Xiaoyu".

He called out.

Su Xiaoyu stopped and turned around to look at him expressionlessly.

Yi Kangle didn't dare to look at her, lowered his head apologetically, clutched his trouser leg, and murmured softly, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have commented on your painting so casually. Here, take this."

He took a piece of milk candy out of his pocket and carefully handed it over with both hands.

"This is my favorite milk candy. I'm giving it to you. Please don't be mad at me."

He awkwardly expressed his apology, his face turning bright red with embarrassment from head to toe.

Su Xiaoyu glanced at the milk candy in his hand, then turned and left.

When Yi Kangle saw her leave, he panicked and called out helplessly, "Su Xiaoyu!"

Su Xiaoyu's steps did not stop; on the contrary, she walked faster and faster.

As Yi Kangle watched his figure walk further and further away, he grew anxious and chased after him again.

But whether it was because he was running too fast or because he didn't see the road clearly, he stumbled, lost his balance, and fell to the ground in a sorry state.

"ah!"

He cried out in pain as his little hands were cut by pebbles on the ground, but he still held on tightly to the candy.

Bright red blood gushed from the wound, and the pain brought tears to his eyes, but he gritted his teeth and dared not cry.

Her tearful, almost-crying appearance made her even more endearing.

A pair of delicate little red leather shoes suddenly came into his view.

Yi Kangle's blurred vision slowly rose, and he saw Su Xiaoyu's still expressionless face.

He forced a smile and handed over the candy in his hand.

Here you go, it's not dirty.

Su Xiaoyu looked at him quietly, her eyes still as calm as a deep pool. But upon closer inspection, it seemed as if ripples were stirring within them.

Fifteen minutes later, in the infirmary.

The medical staff frowned as they applied medicine to Yi Kangle's wound.

But Yi Kangle still gritted his teeth, remained silent, and stubbornly refused to let a single tear fall, even though tears welled up in his eyes.

"How did you get injured like this?" the medical teacher couldn't help but ask.

The teacher was also unsure of what had happened, and she subconsciously turned her head to look in Su Xiaoyu's direction.

Su Xiaoyu, however, sat in the chair as if nothing had happened, chewing on her milk candy with an indifferent expression.

With tears welling up in his eyes, Yi Kangle turned around and watched her eat with relish, a silly smile involuntarily spreading across his lips.

Once you eat his candy, you'll be his good friend.
