The world treats me like a blade of grass, only you see me as verdant mountains!
Her lonely helplessness, only he felt pity for her; his confusion and hesitation, only she understood him. Eve...

It was late at night, and Ye Wenyu was getting ready to go to sleep when there was a knock on the door. It was her mother's voice. Zhang Susu came in and sat down in front of her. The house was quiet, except for the sound of snow falling outside.
Ye Wenyu knew what her mother wanted to ask. She was too embarrassed to ask in front of Uncle Wang, afraid of hurting her pride. But Ye Wenyu strongly suspected that Uncle Wang actually knew everything. He was just being clever and considerate by pretending not to know anything so as to save her face.
Zhang Susu asked softly, "Did he agree?"
Ye Wenyu laughed, glanced at the old woman, and said to her casually, "Of course I agree. If I didn't, would I be here?" Her big eyes even blinked playfully.
Zhang Susu smiled, but there was still worry on her face. She was afraid that things wouldn't be that simple.
To put the old woman at ease, Ye Wenyu reached out and put his arm around her waist, saying affectionately, "Mom, my new life has begun. I'm in my second semester of my junior year now, and I'll graduate in a year and a half. You and Uncle Wang have been so good to me. I'll definitely find a high-paying job and take good care of you!"
Zhang Susu's eyes reddened. This was also the reason why she supported her daughter's breakup with that rich older man. Her daughter only had a year and a half left in college. After graduating, she would be able to earn her own money.
A woman living under someone else's roof and relying on others is not a long-term solution. Only by respecting and loving herself can she live a decent and glamorous life. Of course, marrying a rich man and having a high-class job is the best outcome.
She nodded and said to Ye Wenyu, "That's good. You should get some rest."
Ye Wenyu nodded and agreed.
Zhang Susu got up to leave, but she felt inexplicably afraid. She didn't know what she was worried about. It felt like a lead plate was pressing on her chest, so heavy that she couldn't breathe.
The next day, since it was winter break and there was no rush to get up for class, Ye Wenyu slept in late. When she woke up, she found that golden sunlight, like arrows, shone in through the window, casting warm, honey-like shadows on the floor, instantly uplifting her mood.
She turned her eyes slightly, taking in her surroundings. The small, matchbox-like house was clean and cozy. She slept on a small wire bed, which had two bunks; she slept on the lower bunk, while the upper bunk was piled with her suitcase and other belongings. Next to the bed was a small, old desk, its dark red paint peeling but still relatively clean. The desk was piled high with snacks and fruit. The fruit looked beautiful in the sunlight, and the bright red apples emitted an enticing sweet aroma. Ye Wenyu felt hungry.
There were several posters of popular male and female celebrities on the wall, which were probably put up by Uncle Wang's two sons.
Besides that, there was nothing else. The room was extremely small, like a snail shell. It could only fit a wire bed. If another person stood there, that person would have to turn sideways to get out of the room.
It's small, but warm and safe.
Where is this? Who is she? What is she doing?
Ye Wenyu closed her eyes and then opened them again. She calmed herself down, and everything that had happened came flooding back into her mind like a tide. It turned out that she and Lin Tingfeng had broken up, and that she had returned to her mother's and stepfather's home.
She didn't have a room in this house before, but her stepfather's two children went to boarding school, so the room temporarily belongs to her.
While she was struggling with whether or not to break up with Lin Tingfeng, her mother suddenly came to find her and told her that she could give her a home, which gave her the courage to break up.
Having a way out is a very good thing.
Ye Wenyu remembered everything, realizing that her old life had ended and a new one had begun.
A wave of relief washed over her. Smiling, she reached out from under the covers to find her phone on the small desk. She picked it up to check the time, but as soon as her fingers touched the cold body of the phone, she felt a pang of fear, worried that it would be flooded with missed calls, all from Lin Tingfeng.
With a trembling heart, I picked up my phone to check, only to find it completely empty and quiet, with not a single missed call.
Feeling inexplicably confused, I felt even more disappointed.
It was truly rare for Lin Tingfeng to not make a single bothersome phone call. While she felt relieved, she also felt a little sad. It seemed that Lin Tingfeng didn't love her as much as she had imagined. She was worrying unnecessarily!
Thinking back to last night, her mother sat by her bedside. When she heard that everything was alright and the breakup was successful, her mother still looked worried, fearing that things wouldn't end so simply.
In retrospect, it seems my mother was overthinking things; the matter ended just like that.
Haha, a rich man like Lin Tingfeng, with status and position, what kind of woman can't he get? He may have been tired of her for a long time, but he has been patiently waiting for her to break up with him. After all, he said he would get a divorce but never did. He said he had no feelings for his wife, but in social situations, he and his wife appeared affectionate and loving together. These are all undeniable facts that she witnessed with her own eyes.
Now that the two have broken up, he's probably the one who's most relieved.
Ye Wenyu pondered, her face full of smiles.
It was already 10 a.m. If it were when she was a child, her mother would have called out, "The sun is already high in the sky!" Ye Wenyu thought she should get up, so she got up, put on her clothes, folded her blankets, and went out to the bathroom to wash up.
The house was quiet, with only the sound of her own footsteps. She looked around and it seemed no one was home. She went to the kitchen to look for breakfast when her phone rang. She picked it up and saw a private message from her mother: "There's red bean porridge in the rice cooker and pickled vegetables in the fridge. Eat your breakfast yourself. I'm going to buy groceries. Your Uncle Wang has gone to work."
I see.
Seeing such a rambling private message, Ye Wenyu felt warm, as if she had returned to her childhood home, a small and dilapidated house that was incredibly warm.
The surroundings were quiet and beautiful, with warm sunshine and a refreshing breeze blowing in from outside, like a mountain stream.
She laughed. She was indeed hungry, so she ladled a bowl of red bean porridge from the rice cooker. Because it had a keep-warm function, the porridge she drank was still steaming hot and warm, spreading from her throat to her stomach and then to her limbs, warming her entire body.
She found two small bowls of pickled vegetables in the refrigerator and ate porridge with them in the cramped kitchen. Standing in the golden sunlight, she squinted her eyes, dressed in her pajamas, and ate her simple yet wonderful breakfast in a very relaxed manner.
This simple life was worlds apart from the luxurious life Lin Tingfeng provided for her.
But she felt cleaner, freer, more relaxed, and more dignified than she had ever felt before.
She thought red bean porridge was the best breakfast in the world! It had a subtle sweetness and a slightly grainy texture, yet it wasn't greasy. She ate it with some pickled vegetables and drank a big bowl in one go. Still wanting more, she ladled out a small bowl from the rice cooker. Her mother's cooking was just so delicious; it tasted like her childhood, it tasted like home.
