The world treats me like a blade of grass, only you see me as verdant mountains!
Her lonely helplessness, only he felt pity for her; his confusion and hesitation, only she understood him. Eve...
(61)
Lin Tingfeng saw Ye Wenyu looking at him with confusion from a distance. Her thin face, thinned by illness, was taut, and her already large eyes, now almost unusually large due to her weight loss, were staring at him.
He felt a little embarrassed, his handsome face flushed. He had always wondered if he had hidden his feelings too well, or if she was too oblivious to understand his intentions.
At the same time, he felt a deep sense of guilt; he felt like a big bad wolf deceiving a naive little rabbit.
He smiled slightly, put his hands in his pockets, and slowly walked up to Ye Wenyu, looking down at her.
Under his gaze, Ye Wenyu's pale face flushed red, like a vibrant sunset, and she lowered her head. Her fair and slender neck was as white as moonlight, with a few strands of black hair wrapped around it. Lin Tingfeng's gaze was somewhat intense.
After what seemed like an eternity, Lin Tingfeng slowly said, "You've had a tough six months, which is why you've fallen ill." His voice was slow, but his tone was full of concern.
As Ye Wenyu listened, a warm feeling washed over her. He cared about her; perhaps he was the only person in the world who still cared about her.
Lin Tingfeng continued slowly, "The doctor told me before that I needed to rest well, but I don't think a month of rest is enough."
Although he spoke slowly and deliberately, he genuinely cared about her. Most people would be anxious when they care, but speaking slowly seemed to be his style.
"But I—" Hearing this, Ye Wenyu looked up and saw his bright, obsidian-like eyes. Her face flushed red, and she immediately lowered her head, her heart pounding like a deer's. Her fingertips trembled slightly as she softly said, "My studies—"
What about her studies? At this moment, her only hope in life is her studies. As a student of Q University, it is the only thing she can be proud of in her tragic life. If she loses it, then her life will truly be dark and she will have nothing left to look back on.
Thinking of this, Ye Wenyu felt as if a raging fire was burning in her heart.
Lin Tingfeng continued slowly, "I've already asked your school and your principal for a month and a half's leave on your behalf. Only a month and a few days have passed, so you don't need to rush back." He meant that the school wouldn't make things difficult for him, and he shouldn't be nervous.
What? !
Ye Wenyu looked up in shock, puzzled as she stared at Lin Tingfeng's calm and composed face. A month and a half of leave?! When she was sick, he took it upon himself to ask the principal for a month and a half of leave on her behalf. In other words, he had already planned that once she recovered, he would take her out for a trip, spending about ten days with her.
In his presence, Ye Wenyu felt utterly foolish. He was like a chess master, having already planned out the entire game from the very first move.
Should I really go on vacation?
He's such a busy person, the president of the Lin Group, usually so busy you can't even see him. How could he have the time and energy to accompany a poor stranger on a ten-day trip?
This is hard to believe.
Ye Wenyu was completely bewildered.
What were his plans, and what was his purpose? Was it just a simple trip? No, even someone as naive and simple as Ye Wenyu knew things wouldn't be that simple.
So what is his purpose?
Ye Wenyu felt as if she were walking in a maze.
She mustered her courage, her face flushed, and stammered, "Mr. Lin, is there something you want to say to me? You can just say it directly. There's no need to waste your time and energy accompanying me out for a walk. For me, taking a month off is already a luxury."
Because of nervousness, her ten fingers were clenched tightly together, blood pooling in one spot, her fingertips turning bright red. To avoid him seeing, she quietly put her hands behind her back.
Let's lay everything out on the table and stop torturing her.
Seeing that Ye Wenyu seemed eager to return to school, Lin Tingfeng pondered that if he didn't give her a suitable reason, he might not be able to keep her.
So, after a few minutes of silence, he raised his head again, smiled, and slowly said, "I do have something to say to you, but now, now is not the time." He gazed into the distance thoughtfully, one hand touching his chin, a smile in his eyes, but also a hint of uncertainty.
Ye Wenyu was completely bewildered once again. So, he really did have something to say to her! He said now wasn't the right time; it was just the two of them now, and Auntie had already discreetly disappeared without a trace. How could it not be the right time? What exactly did he want to say to her that he insisted on taking her out to say it?
To control her nervousness, she shifted her weight from her left foot to her right foot, her back already covered in a thick layer of sweat, soaking her clothes.
Seeing Ye Wenyu's bewildered expression, Lin Tingfeng couldn't help but smile. He gazed at her and slowly said, "Don't you have anything to say to me? Hmm?" This time, he spoke heavily, as slowly as ever, especially the last "hmm" which carried a rhetorical tone, making her heart skip a beat.
Ye Wenyu froze, feeling all the blood rush to her face. Her heart pounded wildly, almost cramping. Did he know her secrets? It seemed that during her illness, she had called his name countless times, pouring out her emotions like a torrent. She had pressed her tearful face against his neck, her soaking wet body against his chest. She had heard his strong, slow heartbeat, and she had also heard his rapid heartbeat.
