Chapter 257 Misunderstanding

"What do you want to do?" The woman, with her sharp eyes, naturally noticed the kitchen knife in the old man's hand. Clever and quick-witted, she immediately guessed what was going on. She rushed towards the old man, seemingly very concerned for him, fearing something might happen to him. After rushing forward, she immediately took the kitchen knife from his hand and began to check his body.

“We really didn’t come here to ask you for anything, nor are we who this old man is talking about. We’ve been explaining, but the old man won’t listen to us. And he’s very agitated…” Chen Zhou explained helplessly.

Hearing Chen Zhou's explanation, the woman was still somewhat angry, but her anger was mixed with a lot of confusion and bewilderment.

"Then tell me, who exactly are you people? What are you doing in our house?" the woman continued to ask. She shielded the old man behind her, but the old man kept stammering and trying to hide the woman behind him. However, the woman shook her head at the old man and then made a few gestures with her hands. The old man actually stood obediently behind the woman.

Chen Zhou had no idea what was going on, so he immediately replied, "We came from the ninth floor and have just entered the eighth floor. We came to your house to find out about this eighth floor."

Hearing Chen Zhou's answer, the woman was even more shocked and blurted out, "Another new resident?"

"New residents?" Chen Zhou was obviously hearing this term for the first time, and immediately muttered it to himself.

“Yes, we seem to be the new residents in your sense.” The middle-aged vendor answered for Chen Zhou when he saw that Chen Zhou didn’t understand.

"So many people, are you trying to fool me?" Just then, the people from the Advanced Alliance saw Chen Zhou and the middle-aged merchant return, and immediately surrounded them. Some even asked what had happened. Instantly, all the people from the Advanced Alliance appeared in front of the woman, and her expression changed drastically as she realized that something was wrong! She immediately said angrily.

Chen Zhou and the middle-aged vendor also realized that something was wrong. The sudden appearance of so many people seemed to perfectly match what the old man had mentioned! How could they explain this?

These people seemed quite disbelieving that so many new residents had suddenly moved in.

"We really didn't lie. We all came in from the ninth floor through the teleportation portal. Although there are a few more of us..." Chen Zhou said, looking at the angry woman not far away.

"Still deceiving people even now?" the woman continued angrily, clearly no longer believing the middle-aged merchant and Chen Zhou's words.

Chen Zhou was now speechless with frustration. How could this woman suddenly distrust them? Just then, they saw the old man peek out from behind the woman again, looking at Chen Zhou and his group. When he saw so many people behind them, he immediately realized something was wrong. He instantly showed an angry expression and began to stammer again.

At this moment, Chen Zhou naturally couldn't hear what he was saying, which was stammering.

Now that the woman doesn't believe them, no matter what Chen Zhou says, she won't believe him. The middle-aged merchant and Chen Zhou immediately looked at each other, clearly at a loss for what to do. In this situation, neither of them had any solutions.

"This person doesn't trust us anymore," the middle-aged vendor said helplessly.

Chen Zhou could only nod silently. The group was about to leave the room when the woman spoke again, just as Chen Zhou was about to give a signal to the people from the Advanced Alliance to leave: "Make all those people leave. Don't scare my grandfather. I want to talk to you."

Hearing this, Chen Zhou and the middle-aged merchant both breathed a sigh of relief. This woman had indeed backed down. But now it seemed that it was true. If they really regarded them as the people she was talking about, then those people probably wouldn't treat them like anything.

The woman's attitude was quite good; she took the initiative to suggest discussing the matter with Chen Zhou and the middle-aged merchant. As for the outcome, that would depend on the conversation between Chen Zhou and the middle-aged merchant later.

The man led the man, whom she called her grandfather, to a nearby house. It was a simple house, quite large, with a courtyard in the middle and houses all around, very similar to the courtyard houses Chen Zhou had seen in his previous life.

After settling the old man in, the woman came out and walked straight toward Chen Zhou and the middle-aged merchant.

"Come with me." The woman didn't linger beside Chen Zhou and the middle-aged vendor for long; she simply brushed past them, her voice drifting over to them.

Chen Zhou and the middle-aged vendor immediately caught up with the woman and followed her into a nearby house.

The room was clearly a reception room, with only one table on it. At that moment, a simple tea set was placed on the table. After the woman came in, she immediately filled several cups with tea and handed them to the two men. Chen Zhou and the middle-aged merchant did not hesitate and sat down immediately after entering. After the woman saw that the two men had sat down, she immediately turned around and closed the door.

Then the woman walked up to the two of them.

"Speak, what do you want?" The woman's expression was unfriendly, and she didn't want to waste any more time with Chen Zhou and the middle-aged merchant, so she spoke directly.

“We don’t want anything, we just want information about this place,” Chen Zhou said.
