Chapter 263 The Conspiracy of the Heavenly Dragon Gate

Zhang Fan kept walking. His body was just like an ordinary person's; he would get tired if he walked for a long time.

Miao territory is located in the south, where humidity is high and miasma is prone to form in the mornings and evenings. Fortunately, he carried some antidote pills with him, otherwise he would have died from the miasma long ago.

As the sun was about to set, Zhang Fan quickly found an open space to rest. He cleared a spot with tree branches and gathered a lot of dry firewood to prepare for the night.

The mountains are high and the forests are dense, and there are many snakes, insects, rodents and ants at night. Sometimes even wild beasts may appear. He encountered a wolf last night.

Zhang Fan sighed. If it were before, he could wipe out the enemy with ten wolves, but now even one wolf might hurt him.

After starting a fire, Zhang Fan wiped the wild fruits he had picked up on the road on his clothes and then put them in his mouth.

Fortunately, he still had the ability to identify herbs; otherwise, if he had eaten something poisonous on the way, he might not have been able to find his destination.

Zhang Fan looked up at the moon in the sky. The moon was as big as a plate. It was the same full moon when he left Peach Blossom Village that day.

Counting the days, he has been away from home for a month.

I wonder how my sister-in-law Bai Rou'er and the others are doing. He made all the arrangements before he left. A lot of people from the Tianlong Sect died, so they should be in a period of reorganization and won't have the energy to cause trouble for the time being.

He must find a way to get back to his peak as soon as possible.

As he pondered, Zhang Fan's eyelids drooped unconsciously, and he gradually fell asleep.

Suddenly, Zhang Fan heard a rustling sound. He was always alert when he slept, so he opened his eyes abruptly. He kept his body still, but his eyes quietly looked toward the source of the sound.

It was a human figure, but I couldn't see it clearly. Encountering someone in the wild is never a good thing.

He is currently in a primeval forest, a place rarely visited by humans. The only people he might encounter are explorers, poachers, or fugitives.

Even explorers, if they were starving, might mistake him for food.

Zhang Fan tightened his grip on the curved blade, closed his eyes, and peeked through a crack, observing his opponent intently.

The other party was also observing Zhang Fan. Seeing that Zhang Fan did not react, the other party tiptoed closer to Zhang Fan.

The other party picked up a dagger; the mirror-like blade reflected a pair of fierce eyes, refracting the cold light of the moon and exuding murderous intent.

With a sudden thrust, the blade made a "whoosh" sound and a burst of sparks flew out.

The man was horrified. His dagger missed the person and struck a hard rock. Suddenly, a flash of light appeared before his eyes, and he felt a pain in his chest. Looking down, he saw that Zhang Fan's curved blade had already penetrated his body.

Just as the dagger was about to strike, Zhang Fan rolled to avoid the attack and launched a counterattack.

"Ugh!" The man coughed up blood and collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

Zhang Fan drew his curved sword and used the man's clothes to wipe away the bloodstains.

He turned the man over, pulled open his collar, and sure enough, found a tattoo.

This is a tattoo from the Tianlongmen sect; he's met three people with it in the last few days.

Now it seems that these people came specifically for him.

Zhang Fan was puzzled. If the Heavenly Dragon Sect wanted to kill him, they could have done so in Miao Valley. Why go through all the trouble of letting him leave and then sending people to hunt him down? It was completely unnecessary.

Just then, he heard the sounds of fighting coming from not far away.

Zhang Fan quickly extinguished the fire. He made some footprints to pretend he had run far away, but in reality, he found a place with a wide view and hid.

This place is relatively secluded and easy to observe, making it convenient to escape or fight if needed.

After waiting a while, the fighting stopped, and then he heard a rustling sound heading towards the fire.

Zhang Fan held his breath and secretly observed to see who it was.

A dark figure appeared by the campfire. After seeing the traces he left, the figure headed towards the fake traces Zhang Fan had made. Before Zhang Fan could see who it was, he saw another person chasing after him.

The two became entangled in a fight.

Suddenly, one of them was injured and rendered unable to fight, while the other sneered, "Tell me, where is Zhang Fan?"

Then, Zhang Fan heard a familiar voice; it was Chi Fei.

"He has recovered his spiritual energy and will wipe out your Heavenly Dragon Sect."

"Hmph, you're asking for death!" The man grinned maliciously, thrusting his dagger toward Chi Fei.

The dagger was only a hair's breadth away from Chi Fei's neck when the man suddenly felt an attack on his back. Looking down, he saw a blood-stained blade tip on his chest.

A devilish whisper came from behind: "I'm behind you."

Zhang Fan gave a gentle push, and the person fell straight down, revealing Chi Fei's face, which was both surprised and delighted.

"Zhang Fan, that's great, I've finally found you." Tears streamed down Fei Chi's face.

Her already alluring face looked pitiful, which softened Zhang Fan's heart. He asked gently, "Does your injury hurt a lot? Let me take a look."

Chi Fei wiped away her tears: "I am happy."

Zhang Fan took off Chi Fei's shirt, and by the bright moonlight, he saw a bloody hole on Chi Fei's shoulder, the skin torn off, deep enough to expose the bone.

He took out the hemostatic medicine from his bag. The medicine was effective, but it would hurt a lot when it came into contact with the wound.

"It hurts a little, just bear with it." He used to have spiritual energy, which allowed him to accelerate wound healing and prevent scarring.

But now he has no spiritual energy, so he can only treat Chi Fei with medicine and let time heal her.

Chi Fei noticed the sadness in Zhang Fan's eyes and, not wanting him to worry, gave him a tender and considerate smile: "Don't worry, I'm not afraid of pain, ouch—"

She was trembling all over from the pain, her fingers gripping the hem of her clothes so tightly that her fingernails dug a hole in it, the veins on her neck were clearly visible, and she was sweating profusely.
