Chapter 11 Jealousy: "You dare to answer him and see what happens?"
Su Chen saw Qiao Yunzheng to the door, still feeling a little uneasy.
He felt he should accompany her inside and watch her take the medicine, but seeing that Qiao Yunzheng showed no intention of inviting him in, he could only confirm again: "Are you sure you can manage?"
Qiao Yunzheng gave him a reassuring smile: "This is an old problem, you know that, so don't worry, go back and take care of Ranran!"
As she spoke, she took the bag and phone from his hands and politely thanked him, saying, "Thank you for taking me here today."
Su Chen glanced at his watch and offered a compromise: "I'll have a smoke here. You go in and take your medicine first. Message me when you feel better, and I'll leave." Seemingly realizing he had overstepped his bounds, he added, "Otherwise, I won't be able to explain to Ranran."
Seeing his insistence, Qiao Yunzheng didn't say anything more, turned around, pressed her fingerprint, and went inside.
The room was pitch black. Before Qiao Yunzheng could turn on the light, the door was slammed shut by another force.
Qiao Yunzheng instinctively wanted to shout, but suddenly smelled a familiar scent.
After a moment of blankness, she belatedly realized that she had given Wen Hong the house's password during the day.
The apartment was quite old and the environment wasn't very good. Given Wen Hong's picky nature, Qiao Yunzheng didn't think he would actually move in, so after giving him the password, she put the matter out of her mind.
Su Chen, who was waiting outside, also noticed that the loud door slamming sound was unusual. He called out, "Xiao Zheng? What's wrong? Is something the problem?"
"Xiao Zheng?" Wen Hong's voice suddenly approached her ear.
Qiao Yunzheng didn't know if he had just come back from outside or what, but he was covered in a chilling aura, even colder than the wind she had brought in from outside.
"Wen Hong..." Qiao Yunzheng was forced to turn her head away, overwhelmed by his imposing aura. "Why didn't you turn on the light?"
"Hmm?" Wen Hong easily twisted her arms behind her back, pressing them against the door. "Tell me first, who is that man?"
Receiving no response from Qiao Yunzheng, the knocking became more urgent, echoing behind her with a series of "thumps" that seemed to strike her panicked heart with each knock.
Qiao Yunzheng was certain that if she delayed any longer, Su Chen would probably break down the door and come in.
“Su…”
Qiao Yunzheng tried to calm Su Chen down first, but before she could utter a sound, a single syllable had rolled out of her throat.
Wen Hong held her chin with one hand, forcing her to tilt her head back, and then lowered his head to kiss her lips.
He also swallowed those unformed syllables.
"Ugh..." Qiao Yunzheng tried her best to break free from his restraints, but the difference in strength was too great. She could only breathe with difficulty and greed, like a fish on a chopping board.
"Xiao Zheng? Open the door, Xiao Zheng..."
Su Chen was still calling anxiously from outside the door.
What he didn't know was that every "Xiao Zheng" he uttered was stimulating the nerves of the man inside who was on the verge of madness. With each cry, he put more force into it.
Confined within that aggressive embrace, Qiao Yunzheng's already strained body began to weaken.
Her head felt very dizzy and heavy, and she couldn't break free, so she simply gave up.
Feeling her slide down, Wen Hong freed one hand and easily supported her lower back, while warning her in her ear, "You dare to answer him and see what happens?"
Qiao Yunzheng finally adjusted to the darkness and vaguely saw Wen Hong's eyes magnified in front of her. They were pitch black, seemingly even darker than the thick night, yet they shone with a strange light.
Qiao Yunzheng loved his eyes. From a very young age, she liked to lean on his shoulder and gently stroke his long eyelashes.
She said, "Your eyes are the most beautiful I've ever seen."
Unlike the amorous peach blossom eyes, his eyes were slightly upturned at the corners, carrying a hint of sharpness, while his pupils were very dark and bright, which perfectly neutralized that sense of aggression.
Especially when he looked at her, Qiao Yunzheng once thought that they were the most affectionate eyes in the world.
Qiao Yunzheng thought that the alcohol had probably messed up her brain, or perhaps she had gone mad.
When Wen Hong kissed her again, she instinctively tilted her head back to meet his kiss.
Even knowing how inappropriate and absurd it was, they still followed their instincts and did it.
Wen Hong froze, like a bewildered beast. After a moment, he suddenly slowed his pace.
She had a wonderful scent that he couldn't help but be captivated by.
Just as Qiao Yunzheng was letting herself wallow in this inexplicable emotion, she suddenly seemed to hear a cell phone ringing on the other side of the door.
Unable to get a response from her, Su Chen assumed she was about to collapse and, fearing something might have happened, was calling the police.
Like a bolt of lightning striking her mind, Qiao Yunzheng's rationality returned in an instant. In a panic, she bit down hard, and soon her lips and teeth were filled with the sweet taste of blood.
Qiao Yunzheng took the opportunity to push him away forcefully, then turned around and hurriedly opened the door.
Afraid that Wen Hong would be discovered, she only opened the door a crack, revealing half of her face, and said to the anxious Su Chen outside, "Su Chen, I'm fine, you don't need to call."
Su Chen finally felt relieved when she saw that she had opened the door. She explained a few words to the staff on the other end of the phone, apologized hastily, and then hung up.
"Xiaozheng, what happened just now? You were making such a loud noise, and you didn't even respond when I knocked on the door. I thought something had happened to you..."
Qiao Yunzheng tidied her slightly messy hair and tried to maintain a calm smile: "It's nothing, I just slipped and fell because the light wasn't on. It's alright."
"Did you fall?" Su Chen looked her up and down with concern. It seemed that apart from her collar being a little crooked, there was nothing wrong with her.
"It's alright, don't worry!" Qiao Yunzheng was a little anxious, but she couldn't be too indifferent to Su Chen's kindness, so she could only say, "Thank you."
Wen Hong was kept out of Qiao Yunzheng's sight behind the door. He frowned as he listened to her talking to the man outside the door. The more he listened, the more impatient he became. He looked up and caught sight of the light switch on the other side of the wall.
Qiao Yunzheng was racking her brains trying to figure out how to get rid of Su Chen when she heard a crisp sound, and the dark room was instantly illuminated as if it were daytime.
She knew that Wen Hong was warning her.
Su Chen was only taken aback for a moment, not noticing anything amiss, and said with a smile, "Then remember to be more careful in the future... By the way, did you take your medicine? Are you feeling better?"
"I've already eaten it."
“But why does your face look even redder, and your neck too…” Su Chen looked her over and became worried again.
Alarm bells rang in Qiao Yunzheng's mind. She tugged at her collar and patiently explained, "The medicine takes twenty minutes to take effect. It's okay. It's getting late. Su Chen, you should go home first!"
"Alright," Su Chen said, finally confirming that she was alright. "Remember to call Ranran if you need anything. Of course, you can call me too."
Qiao Yunzheng's heart finally settled down after Su Chen turned out of the corridor and entered the elevator.
She closed the door and faced the restless instigator, her mood plummeting to its lowest point.
Before she could lash out, Wen Hong took a long stride and reached out to pinch her face again.
Qiao Yunzheng was furious and was thinking about whether to slap him, but Wen Hong did not make any other move.
He cautiously turned her face slightly, staring at her for a few seconds before frowning: "An allergic reaction?"
When the lights were off, he only felt her body was hot and assumed it was due to some kind of emotion. He was even happy for a moment because of this slight possibility.
Unexpectedly, she had another allergic reaction.
Her face was flushed, and a layer of fine, dense rashes appeared on her neck.
"Do you have any medicine?" Wen Hong asked as she strode into the bathroom.
Qiao Yunzheng ignored him and went to the storage cabinet in the bedroom. She took out the medicine box, found a box of cetirizine, broke off a pill, and swallowed it.
Wen Hong came in with a towel soaked in cold water. Without saying goodbye, she pressed her down to sit on the bed, then placed the towel on her neck as a wet compress, and then took another towel and pressed it on her face.
Qiao Yunzheng was still angry and avoided him.
Wen Hong patiently pressed a towel against her face, saying, "Don't move, a cold compress will make you feel better."
He was very tall, and even when he was half-squatting in front of her, he was still at eye level with her.
"You should have told me." Wen Hong pursed his lips, his eyes fixed on the red rash on her face.
When Qiao Yunzheng looked up, she saw a bright red bloodstain on Wen Hong's lower lip. In his haste, he hadn't been careful, and his lower lip was now slightly swollen.
After her anger subsided a bit, she finally spoke: "You didn't even give me a chance to speak."
Wen Hong moved her lips, but did not refute.
Wen Hong squatted there and applied a cold compress to her. After changing the towel three times, the antihistamine finally took effect. The red rash on her face and neck quickly faded, and her jade-like white skin returned to normal.
Wen Hong insisted on taking her to the hospital.
After registering at the emergency room, the doctor, after inquiring about the symptoms and treatment, glanced at Wen Hong through his thick glasses, his gaze intentionally or unintentionally drifting to his swollen lower lip, but his expression remained serious: "The treatment was quite appropriate, there's nothing wrong now. However, with her constitution, we still can't let our guard down in the future..."
Wen Hong seemed oblivious to the doctor's scrutinizing gaze, standing there quietly and listening attentively to the doctor's instructions, like a well-behaved student.
It was already past midnight when I left the hospital.
The two left the emergency room and walked side by side toward the parking lot.
Wen Hong remained silent for a long time before finally speaking: "Have you been drinking tonight?"
The taste seemed to be the sweet flavor of some kind of mixed fruit wine.
Qiao Yunzheng nodded silently: "It was an accident."
Wen Hong didn't ask any more questions, only looked at her profile, his hands in his pockets tightened and then slowly relaxed.
At this time, there were only a few cars left in the parking lot.
Qiao Yunzheng took a few steps to the front of the car and opened the back door.
The redness and swelling on Wen Hong's lips were too glaring, and she instinctively wanted to stay away from him.
Wen Hong stood still, staring at Qiao Yunzheng's back for a long time before suddenly calling out to her, "Qiao Yunzheng."
Qiao Yunzheng turned to look at him. The emergency light behind Wen Hong was so bright that she couldn't see his expression clearly. She only heard him say:
Let's get married!
