Chapter 110 Encountering a Bear

The Chinese rural dogs are not large in size. Although they controlled the wild boar, it was still somewhat difficult for them to completely kill it. They had to rely on teamwork to wear down the wild boar's stamina.

The hunters only dared to finish off the wild boar when it was exhausted. Their group included some large Dogo Argentinos, but they didn't seem to be very skilled at hunting boars and didn't know how to control them very well.

Time was of the essence, so Chen Chongshan and his group only glanced at the group a few times before calling for their dogs to continue their journey in another direction.

Ah Huang remained the lead dog, having established its supreme position among the pack of hunting dogs. It enjoyed this treatment and understood the responsibilities and obligations it had to fulfill.

Although there had been several battles, Ah Huang's stamina was not greatly depleted because it had enough helpers on its side. It excitedly traversed the mountains and forests, and soon, in a quiet forest, Ah Huang smelled a distinct scent of an unfamiliar wild beast.

This was a different kind of smell, and Ah Huang even detected a hint of danger within it. But Ah Huang was a brave hunting dog, an indomitable warrior, and curiosity would drive it to continue searching for the source of this scent.

The forest grew increasingly quiet, and the hunting dogs, with their keen sense of smell, quickly located the source of the scent.

This is a fully grown black bear, the biggest boss in this hunting competition. I never expected to encounter it here.

To the hunting dogs, this was a behemoth. Even a big guy like Ah Huang looked much smaller in front of the black bear. It weighed over 300 pounds and was excitedly searching for food after finally returning to the forest.

The black bear was taken aback by the sudden appearance of the hunting dogs. It was curious about the large number of visitors that had suddenly appeared. It watched the group of dogs from a distance and did not rush to attack.

The hunting dogs, having caught their prey, were extremely excited, but they only dared to bark at the black bear from a distance. They had seen wild boars that were much bigger than this one, but even those ferocious wild boars did not exert as much pressure on them as the creature in front of them.

Ah Huang let out a low growl, calling to its companions and warning them not to rush into action. It was restless, its senses telling it that this was a formidable opponent.

Ah Huang paced back and forth, waiting for Chen Chongshan and the others to arrive. Ah Huang had a strong sense of pride, and although this guy seemed so invincible, it still wouldn't allow itself to leave like this.

Having been captured and kept in captivity at the manor for so long, the black bear had naturally seen dogs before. In fact, it was initially captured because of a chase by several dogs. It didn't want to get into a conflict with these guys, as it couldn't outrun the dogs. Being at a speed disadvantage would make the fight very difficult. Moreover, there were hunters behind the dogs, creatures that were even more troublesome than dogs.

After a few minutes of standoff with the hunting dogs, the black bear prepared to turn and leave. It sensed that the hunters in the forest were coming, and having just gained its freedom, it did not want to engage in such a dangerous battle again.

The black bear walked away with heavy steps, but the hunting dogs were not willing to give up. Ah Huang walked in front, keeping a certain distance from the black bear, and followed at a leisurely pace.

The hunting dogs stayed by its side, which made the black bear even more wary. It stopped, turned around, and looked at Ah Huang in the lead, letting out a low growl with a strong sense of threat.

Ah Huang, with its strong sense of pride, was naturally not to be outdone, baring its teeth and roaring back at the black bear.

With Ah Huang leading the way, the other hunting dogs began barking incessantly, especially the four brindle dogs, which barked the loudest. The four young and energetic dogs did not have a strong sense of danger, and they were full of confidence in such a powerful challenge.

The tiger-striped lemurs were provoking the large creature on the other side as much as possible. They had a huge numerical advantage and were absolutely confident that they could take it down like a wild boar.

The hounds' attitude completely enraged the black bear. Suddenly, it stood on its hind legs, roared, and viciously swung its paw at the hounds. The force was so great that it even created a whooshing sound, and the heavy thud after landing struck the hounds hard.

The black bear's momentum exploded to its peak in that instant, and Ah Huang's vigilance became even stronger. While restraining the excited tiger-striped dog, it kept a close eye on the big guy from a distance, looking for a breakthrough in the battle.

Chen Chongshan, Xu Jiaming, Wen Fei, and others had already arrived at the scene. The enormous black bear shocked them greatly. This was not one of those big, clumsy creatures they had seen in the zoo, nor was it the bears from the cartoon "Bald Qiang." This was a ferocious beast capable of tearing everything apart.

Chen Chongshan and his group approached the hunting dog from behind. They dared not go any further, for if the black bear went berserk, even the hunting dog would be unable to stop it.

The two Dogo Argentinos also started howling. They were excited, but since they weren't very good at hunting, they didn't realize that this was a formidable opponent.

"Chongshan, what do we do? We've actually found this black bear." Xu Jiaming squinted at the black bear and asked in a deep voice with a serious expression.

"I don't know either."

Chen Chongshan shook his head. He also had no experience fighting black bears, and this was the first time he had ever seen a black bear outside of television: "Let's wait and see if Ah Huang and the others can do anything."

"Okay." Xu Jiaming nodded, while Wen Fei reminded him from the side, "Be careful later. If it rushes towards us, run fast and try to climb the biggest tree."

“Okay. I’ll release the dogs too.” Xu Jiaming nodded, and then untied the two Dogo Argentino dogs he was holding.

The unrestrained dogs were extremely excited. They rushed out and set their sights on the black bear ahead, which was both angry and cautious.

Just as the Dogo Argentinos charged into the hounds' area, Ah Huang suddenly roared, stopping the two Dogo Argentinos in their tracks. The opponent was a powerful creature, and their reckless charge would inevitably cause injury.

Shak and Rakshasa had cooperated with Ah Huang more than once or twice, and they were well aware of the big guy's strength. Its sudden roar startled them. Although they were puzzled, they stayed where they were and did not continue to attack.

(494 requests for more chapters, almost there, haha. But I'll still post four chapters today. I'll post one for now, and the remaining three are written, but they still need some polishing. I really, really need your requests for more chapters, adding to your bookshelf, and donations. Thank you everyone!)
