Chapter 12

Ji Mingfei jogged all the way home. Leaning against the security door, she was panting heavily. The mark on her neck seemed to be on fire, constantly reminding her of everything that had happened last night.

This place is unbearable to stay in any longer!

Losing her temper, Ji Mingfei rushed back to her bedroom, pulled out her laptop, and leaned over her dressing table to submit a report to the human resources department, requesting a job transfer.

The elevator stopped on the fourth floor. The doors opened, and the words "General Affairs Department" in gold lettering gleamed on the wall directly in front of us.

Ji Mingfei pressed the light switch, and rows of incandescent light tubes above illuminated the cold and deserted office area.

As soon as Ji Mingfei entered the office, she noticed a bag on her desk that looked like Chu Yue's. It must have been accidentally left behind when Chu Yue took her to the hospital last night! This thing can't be left here; if Sun Xiaomei and Wang Chao see it, she'll have trouble explaining herself.

Ji Mingfei rummaged through drawers and found an opaque bag. She carefully put the bag inside, intending to deliver it to Chu Yue's office before anyone else arrived at work.

The door to the general manager's office was locked, so Ji Mingfei simply hung her bag on the doorknob. Anyway, there were surveillance cameras everywhere in the company, so no one should dare to steal her things.

After putting her bag away, Ji Mingfei walked to the elevator door only to find that the elevator that was supposed to stop on this floor had already gone down. Unsure who had gotten on or if it would stop on this floor, she had no choice but to retreat to the emergency exit and take the stairs down.

Every time Ji Mingfei descended a floor, he would stand in the stairwell and watch the elevator's floor number change through the glass door. The ever-increasing numbers showed no sign of stopping, finally coming to a halt on the floor with the general manager's office.

Ji Mingfei said "That was close," and swaggered out of the stairwell, pressing the elevator button for this floor. Since Chu Yue had already gone up, there was no need for her to take the stairs.

The elevator quickly returned to the fourth floor.

Ji Mingfei had just stepped out of the elevator when her phone suddenly rang. She quickly took out her phone and saw the number: President Chu.

Did you call as soon as you arrived because you saw the bag on the doorknob? She must be angry that I didn't hand it to her in person.

Ji Mingfei dared not answer her call now. He immediately turned off the sound and pretended not to hear it, his heart pounding as he walked toward his office.

When Sun Xiaomei arrived at work, she was startled to see President Chu with a cold face and Ji Mingfei crying her heart out standing face to face at the door. She froze instantly, "...Hello, President Chu!"

Chu Yue gave a blank "hmm".

Wang Chao followed closely behind, a pancake in his mouth, his foot pausing mid-air before landing heavily. He quickly swallowed the pancake, "President Chu... hiccup!"

Chu Yue frowned and said to Ji Mingfei, "Come out with me."
