Picking Up a Big Brother as My Husband

Xu Moran, a young female police officer, lived an ordinary life until she accidentally picked up a man on the highway. From then on, the man clung to her like glue, and her meager salary had to cov...

Chapter Sixty-Nine: Like the Same Person

"What...what principle?" the man asked Xu Moran in a trembling voice.

"Confess and you'll be treated leniently; resist and you'll be punished severely!" Seeing that the man didn't seem like a repeat offender, Xu Moran didn't try to scare him too much.

"Officer, I was wrong, I really know I was wrong!" The man suddenly burst into tears. If it weren't for the chair, which prevented him from standing up easily, he probably would have already knelt down and begged for forgiveness.

This was truly the first time Xu Moran had ever seen such a cowardly criminal. If everyone who committed a crime had such a fragile mentality, how wonderful that would be.

Of course not. There are plenty of cunning people out there. It's just an idealized scenario; don't take it too seriously. Otherwise, you wouldn't be suited to be a police officer.

"You've got some nerve!" Xu Moran stared into the man's eyes. "You actually came to the police station to commit indecent assault!"

The man shook his head repeatedly, denying it with a look of terror on his face, "No, I didn't..."

Xu Moran narrowed her eyes and interrupted the man sharply, "What do you mean you have nothing? Witnesses: besides Grandpa Wang outside the door, there were many police officers present last night; physical evidence: there's the surveillance footage from last night. Do you still want to say you have nothing?"

After hearing Xu Moran's words, the man not only shook his head but also waved his hands, "Officer, no, no, you, I..."

He was so scared that he was incoherent; he was terrified of going to jail.

I really hate that man I met last night. How could he be so cunning? He forced him to drink something laced with drugs, and then he even forced him to turn himself in to the police.

To be honest, when the drug took effect, what he saw was not the sixty-year-old gatekeeper, but a stunningly beautiful woman with a curvaceous figure.

With such a beautiful woman before him, one can only imagine how alluring she was. Afraid she would escape, he pinned her against the wall without a word. Her lips were so red, so moist, so tempting.

He immediately wanted to kiss her...

Afterwards, once the effects of the drug wore off, the memory of those "red lips" he almost kissed nearly made him vomit up his dinner from the night before.

What kind of beautiful woman has a curvy figure?

That was an old man with a face full of wrinkles and gray hair.

What moisturizes those luscious, vibrant lips?

That was an old man's mouth covered in yellow grime and emitting a foul odor.

If he really kissed her last night, he absolutely must get his teeth cleaned, ten times in a row.

And those policemen who pulled him away in time when he was cornering the gatekeeper, Grandpa Wang, he really wanted to kowtow to them when he had the chance, saying, "My saviors, please accept my bow."

Xu Moran gestured to his colleagues in the interrogation department to give a cigarette to the man who was trembling with nervousness.

The man didn't stand on ceremony; he was extremely tense and desperately needed a cigarette to calm himself down.

The cigarette was already lit, and as soon as it was handed to him, he couldn't wait to put it in his mouth and take a big drag. It's no exaggeration to say that half a cigarette was gone in one puff.

Xu Moran watched him smoke so quickly and was quite satisfied. "Now can we talk properly?"

After quickly finishing his cigarette, the man finally calmed down. "Officer, many things aren't what they seem. I'd like to tell you little by little, is that alright?"

Xu Moran said expressionlessly, "Just keep it brief and don't omit any key points."

Over the next ten minutes, Xu Moran listened to the second story besides Zheng Heping's oral narration.

She discovered that although the protagonists and plots of the two stories were different, they shared one thing in common: the stories took place in the same bar.

No, besides the same address, there's another thing they have in common: the person who got them both arrested was the same man, and based on simple physical descriptions, the two men are at least seven or eight points similar.

He looked to be around 27 or 28 years old, tall and strong.

Whether it's Zheng Heping or the man in front of them, the key point is that he is a strong and powerful man.

No matter how vivid Xu Moran's imagination was, he felt that as a police officer, everything should be based on solid evidence.

The interrogation went surprisingly smoothly, and Xu Moran quickly left the interrogation room. As soon as she stepped out, her arm was grabbed tightly, as if the person was afraid she would run away.

Xu Moran didn't need to turn around to be certain of one thing: the person who grabbed her arm so abruptly was definitely not a colleague from the police station.

Before she could turn around, the person grabbing her arm was already speaking to her in a sharp, shrill voice, "Miss Xu, are you Miss Xu?"

With such a unique voice, Xu Moran thought she would never forget it once she heard it, not to mention that she had heard it more than once.

She inhaled, turned around, and spun around in one fluid motion, facing Zheng Heping's mother, Old Mrs. Zheng.

She pretended not to recognize Old Mrs. Zheng and asked her, "Who are you...?"

Old Mrs. Zheng is truly a woman who, despite losing her husband when Zheng Heping was still an infant and remaining a widow for many years, raised her son to adulthood and even trained him to become a government official. Her shrewdness is natural and unpretentious.

For the sake of her son Zheng Heping, she didn't mind that Xu Moran didn't recognize her. Instead, she moved her hand from Xu Moran's arm to hers.

A pair of calloused hands gripped Xu Moran's hand tightly. Her voice, though still sharp, had been noticeably softened. She spoke to Xu Moran in the gentlest tone possible, "Miss Xu, please take another look and see if you recognize me?"

The mother-in-law used a weasel to pay New Year's greetings to a chicken; she clearly had ill intentions, but she still forced a kind smile at Xu Moran.

Xu Moran shook his head. "I don't know you."

Once Mrs. Zheng was certain that Xu Moran genuinely couldn't remember who she was, she began to introduce herself, "Miss Xu, I'm Zheng Heping's mother. You really don't recognize me?"
