Chapter 14 Li Zhenzhen

Li Zhenzhen appeared at this time. The grandmother felt that she was dying, and the aunt was unwilling to handle the funeral arrangements for the mother-in-law who had little money left.

So, Grandma Li, who had been estranged from her daughter for many years, held on to her last breath and contacted her daughter in another province.

When Li Ke was little, she asked her grandma where her mom and dad were. Her grandma always scolded her, saying, "Why do you ask so many questions? Just eat your fill and wear clothes."

Ask her beloved grandfather, and he would always brush her off with a piece of candy or a small toy.

As Li Ke grew up, she heard many rumors, such as that she was an illegitimate child whose father was unknown, and that her mother did not want her and left her to be raised by her maternal grandparents.

Or perhaps her father was a rapist, and her mother was an unmarried, promiscuous woman who became pregnant before marriage. After moving in with her uncle, her aunt would curse her mother in private, calling her a disgraceful woman who brought ruin to the family and dragged it down. She said that she and her mother were both jinxes.

Li Ke grew up amidst these scattered rumors and gossip, and gradually learned that she was an illegitimate child whose father was unknown and whose mother did not want her, and that the grandparents who raised her were actually her maternal grandparents.

Before Li Zhenzhen appeared, Li Ke had no expectations of her and only hoped that he could grow up quickly and become independent.

Li Zhenzhen is very beautiful, the kind of gentle and pretty. Li Ke was immediately struck by her beauty the moment he saw her.

Li Ke is also very beautiful, but she is only fourteen years old, and neither her grandmother nor her aunt likes her excessive beauty.

So they always gave her thick bangs and made her look ugly.

Li Ke herself knew that her family didn't like her face, so she always tried to keep her head down.

Li Ke and Li Zhenzhen look four or five parts alike, especially their big, bright eyes; the mother and daughter are practically identical.

Upon their first meeting, Li Zhenzhen hugged Li Ke tightly and said with heartache, "Good child, I'm late."

For a moment, Li Ke truly believed that she might be loved again in the future.

Li Zhenzhen and her sister-in-law disliked each other. After handling her mother's funeral, she didn't even let Li Ke pack her luggage. She just wore a new outfit that Li Ke had bought for her and got into the car that was leaving with her.

Li Ke developed a quiet nature in such an environment, and after getting into the car, he had many questions he wanted to ask Li Zhenzhen.

I want to ask her, where is she taking her? Is she really her mother? Why hasn't she had any contact with her grandparents for so many years?

But soon she didn't want to ask anything anymore, because Li Zhenzhen's attitude had clearly turned cold.

"You're coming with me to City B. From now on, call me Auntie. Don't let anyone know I'm your mother."

“I have a new family now, and you have a cousin and a younger cousin.”

"In addition, your uncle's previous wife left behind a son and a daughter."

"The Chen family is a large family with strict rules. When you get there, be obedient and don't annoy them..."

Li Ke's heart grew colder and colder. Perhaps she was just not affectionate enough and not loved by others. But at only fourteen years old, she was still hurt and wanted to be loved. She also had some unspeakable expectations of her mother.

She listened silently, and if Li Zhenzhen looked at her as if she was about to reply, she would obediently nod. Having stayed at her uncle's house for more than two years, she already knew very well how not to be disliked.

There was a loud knocking at the door. Li Ke sat up in bed and went to open it. Aunt Chen was standing at the door. When she saw her open the door, she subconsciously glanced into Li Ke's room.

Then he raised an eyebrow and said, "Ke, you've rested for a while, are you feeling any better?"

Li Ke looked at her without saying anything. Aunt Chen felt that Li Ke looked different today, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what was different.

When her eyes met Li Ke's, she suddenly couldn't bear it and looked away. Strange, this girl's eyes looked too cold now.

Clearing her throat, Aunt Chen remembered her purpose and spoke again: "Ke'er, Grandma knows you're back. I was thinking that the branches of the trees in the yard have been growing too wildly lately. If you're feeling better now, go and prune the branches. Also, the flower beds and tea trees in the garden need to be watered and tended to again. Xiao Zheng and I are going to accompany Grandpa and Grandma for a walk. Grandma said that since you're back, you shouldn't stay cooped up in the house all the time, but should come out and move around more."

Li Ke listened to Aunt Chen's words expressionlessly and replied coldly, "I know, I'll change my clothes and go downstairs to do it."

It wasn't even two o'clock yet. According to their usual routine, Grandpa and Grandma Chen should be taking a nap at this time. However, they had never been happy about Li Ke just sitting at home doing nothing. They would feel more comfortable if they could assign her more tasks.

Aunt Chen nodded. Although Li Ke still seemed obedient, she suddenly didn't dare to urge her to hurry up as usual.

Li Ke had no interest in observing what Aunt Chen was thinking. She closed the door, turned around, opened the wardrobe, found a set of long-sleeved shirt and trousers that were convenient for working, and changed out of her school uniform.

A small mirror hung inside the wardrobe door. Li Ke stared blankly at her youthful face reflected in it. It was a fair face with thick bangs that completely covered her eyebrows. There were many red pimples on both sides of her face. Apart from her beautiful big eyes, which stood out a bit, her face was actually quite frightening.

Li Ke found a clip and clipped her bangs back. Her full forehead was covered with red pimples. For a long time, Li Ke didn't dare to look up at people because of the sudden appearance of pimples on her face, and she was also afraid that others would look at her.
