Chapter 160 New Home

Li Ke walked forward in the snow, disoriented, collecting supplies as he went. Once he had completed his daily activity, he would find a cave or dig a snow cave to take shelter in.

When she didn't want to rush, she would stay in one place for a while. To avoid people, she would travel through high mountains and barren forests, places where there were no people.

By May, the remaining snow had melted away, the temperature had risen to nearly 30 degrees Celsius in just one month, rain began to fall again, and the air began to smell unpleasant once more.

Li Ke also found a large cave and released his luxurious one-bedroom apartment, waiting for the rain to stop.

After seeing Zhuang Yihao off, Li Ke also dealt with Zuo Hui. Although this guy hadn't done anything heinous yet, he had done plenty of petty evils and would likely get even worse in the future. Li Ke didn't have enough fodder to feed him.

While waiting for the rain to stop, Tanaka finally kicked the bucket. But the old man couldn't uphold his loyalty to the family and gave Li Ke several more statements, some true and some false, which Li Ke couldn't tell. But she still kept them.

The rain continued for another two weeks, the ditches and rivers outside were full, and the sun was obscured by the murky air. Li Ke waited another week until the roads were a bit easier to travel on before setting off again, intending to find a better place to stay.

The temperature was already 33 degrees Celsius. Li Ke was wearing a full-body protective suit and a gas mask, completely covered from head to toe.

Along the way, only bare, withered trees stood on the ground, without a trace of green. Although the temperature was not low, perhaps because he had just come out of the severe cold, Li Ke's body did not feel hot, but only felt that the temperature was acceptable.

The sun hangs high in the sky, like an imperfection. Occasionally, you can look up and find its outline in the haze, but sometimes even that outline is barely visible.

Li Kexian's physical condition is really good. Even without wearing a gas mask, the polluted air can't cause her any harm. But she has plenty of these things, so she does whatever makes her comfortable.

As for why she had to wrap herself up so tightly, it was because mosquitoes had appeared. Although Li Ke only found one, she still dared not let her guard down.

These little things are really poisonous and hard to kill. After walking for so long, Li Ke hasn't seen a single rat yet, but he's encountered the most annoying mosquitoes first.

The last one she saw was small, about the size of a little fingernail. In the next two months, before the temperature gets hot enough for mosquitoes to get used to it, they will start to appear in large numbers and become active.

A mosquito bite can cause a swelling that lasts for a week. If you get bitten ten times, you're lucky to survive, but if you try to endure it completely, that period of time can truly feel like you're living a life worse than death.

After walking for two days, they finally arrived at the edge of the mountains. There were quite a few houses below. Li Ke took out his binoculars to observe, but found no trace of people at the foot of the mountain. Further away, he could see scattered signs of human activity.

Li Ke descended the mountain and chose to take a detour, riding his motorcycle along a deserted road for a while before finally stopping in a deserted village in a neighboring town.

The houses below the village looked much more densely packed, but there was a section of road that was blocked by water, and there were many collapsed houses nearby.

There were only a few intact houses where Li Ke had stopped. She found a place outside the village with a wide view and a terrain that was easy to defend and difficult to attack. After leveling the ground, she opened up her small courtyard.

Li Ke planned to dig an underground castle next to the courtyard, where she would stay temporarily during the hottest period. That very evening, Li Ke began to look up some relevant architectural information on the computer.

She had everything readily available; what she needed to know was how to ensure the tunnel wouldn't collapse during excavation, and how to solve the ventilation and drainage problems after it was dug.

After getting a good understanding of the key issues that evening, Li Ke took photos and wrote down everything that needed to be remembered. The next morning, he brought out the excavator to start digging.

After working for more than a week, digging out the dimensions of the bunker, and setting up the supports and ventilation, Li Ke put his three-room bunker villa inside. Then he corrected and filled in any unsuitable parts, solving all the problems little by little.

The gloom between heaven and earth has lessened considerably. The bunker has been built, and Li Ke exercises for two hours every day in the equipment room inside, and then walks around and lingers in various rooms for a while.

The purpose was to check if there were any other problems with the bunker. The bunker was located six meters underground. In addition to the original three entrances and exits, Li Ke also wanted to install an automatic lifting exit, but this was a bit troublesome, and she was still learning how to do it.

In addition, she chose two directions to dig tunnels, which are quite far apart, and she also wanted to make multiple exits for each tunnel, so she had to learn as she went.

Fortunately, she had all kinds of materials in her space, and many of them were even better alternatives. So after learning, Li Ke tried her best to make her new home as perfect as possible.

She spends more than half of her daytime underground and the rest of her time above ground. She has placed a three-story villa on top of the bunker, and the previous small courtyard has been put away.

After the three-story villa is completed, Li Ke will also build an impregnable high wall around it, and install solar panels on the villa to provide electricity for the villa and the underground castle.

In short, things seem to be piling up, and it's almost impossible to stop, but Li Ke is really enjoying the process of building her own little home.

After the outermost wall was initially completed, Li Ke decided to go down the mountain to collect some discarded bricks and stones to reinforce his wall.

Li Ke's space also contained mountain stones and bricks, which looked quite beautiful when used to decorate the space. Many of the small creatures in the space also liked those stones very much. Li Ke didn't want to touch them, since there were dilapidated houses and broken bricks everywhere outside anyway. Li Ke decided to save money and go out to collect them.
